Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is out next month and we can't wait to get our hands on it here at Nintendo Life, and the news that our plucky hero is being joined by Wonder Girl makes the wait even harder.

Lizardcube art director Ben Fiquet revealed the news regarding this fresh playable character via the PlayStation Blog:

Over the past few months we've showcased the various half-animal, playable characters, along with the popular Retro feature. But we haven't yet revealed the new human hero design, and speculation has been rampant.

There's a simple explanation for keeping the character's identity a secret: we wanted it to be a surprise. But now it's time for the grand unveiling.

Along with Wonder Boy in his classic form, you can now play as the totally awesome, totally radical Wonder Girl!

Wonder Girl is also playable in the 8-bit retro version of the original game which ships along with this remake. Sweet! Fiquet also shows off some of the character designs for Wonder Boy and his transformations:
