The only Final Fantasy that I 100% completed; I doubt I'll play through it 100% again, but I am happy that Sony's premiere FF has FINALLY been ported to a Nintendo system after years of Nintendo's FF games being ported to every electronic device under the sun.
This is gonna be in the top three best sellers for weeks, if not number one, I guarantee it.
... For that amount of money, seems like it would be more worth it to just buy a RetroN. I have a RetroN 2 and I'd upgrade to the latest model before I'd buy this.
This game is a lovechild between Chrono Trigger and Phantasy Star and plays just as well as either. Fully enjoyable, fast paced, and the most polished Zeboyd game I've played. It's hooked me longer than Octopath, and I actually love that game.
@SKTTR The only issue I have with the KEMCO RPGs is the somewhat questionable translations. It seems like after so long they could get a good translation team together. Other than that, every single one of those bad boys are sittin' on my 2DS lol
@Rafke
I hate to do it, but I kind of agree. I still loved Yooka-Laylee, but it fell short in a number of places. I don't think it was wasted effort, but I do think they bit off more than they could chew. They got all the talent they needed, just not the huge pockets of Nintendo or Microsoft to dig into this time.
We're getting to the point now where our Wishlists are overtaking our actual collections here in Switch territory so... It's gonna start taking something really fantastic, really interesting, or somethin' that just grabs us for one reason or another to invest interest, or more importantly money, into it. I myself am like... Five games behind on what I want to play, as I haven't picked up Hyrule Warriors yet. This game in it's early stages looks too generic and too soulless for me, inspiration be danged. It's getting crowded in here now, you guys. Gonna have to really step it up.
I'm not really into the graphical style... Also, it looks like it pays homage to a lot of 80s cartoon set pieces, but does very little in actually being anything else. Hard pass.
@BigKing @Rhaoulos It's in (or used to be) Rare's licensing agreement that they could still develop games for Nintendo handhelds. That' how we got Diddy Kong Racing on the DS... So I wonder where that leaves Nintendo's little hybrid console?
... I understand that it's already on Wal*Mart's budget shelves for PS4 and XBOX One, and I would also prefer a physical game card. But the NA price is as much as a new Pokémon game and many of us have no problem buying two different versions of the same game, let alone another $40 when the enhanced versions come out. Now I know the extra features included in an upgraded Pokémon title are hardly comparable to patches and performance upgrades to optimize a game for release on a console, but come on, man; The team wanted to get it right and I think $40 is a decent price to pay, especially if it's turned out to be THE top version of the game.
My only complaint is that Nintendo haven't really advertised it, and that they didn't launch it at midnight.
I've been waiting for this game for a couple of years (dare I say 15 or so) for this game, so I'm happy to pay the 'Switch tax' on this one.
If Rockstar wanna try Red Dead Redemption + Undead Nightmare and GTA V or Bethesda wanna try Fallout 3 and New Vegas (is 4 possible?), I'll gladly give them my money. Again.
With SOO many great games coming out in the particularly bloated holiday season, it's always a nightmare to obtain AND play every game I want with my loaded work schedule. I was super excited to play this game, but after seeing the performance... It's just gonna be a soft pass for now. If it's patched, maybe it can find a place on my shelf later. Unless the patch is soon though, it'll be much later.
@OorWullie I dunno, I agree with most of what you said, but the user experience on the Wii U is still superior. Signing in to separate profiles feels more secure, Miiverse was very interactive and personal, and the Wii U even threw up some confetti in the Plaza when I started it up on my birthday. The Switch is sleeker and trimmed, sure, but it feels cold in comparison to the Wii U. That being said, I have no doubt that most of this will be remedied after the launch of the official online service.
@Hrimfaksi Your concerns are legit. Third parties have done Nintendo dirty like that in the past.
I'm pumped, though, 'cause I never got a chance to play it. I don't have an XBOX One or a PS4, or a gaming PC, so there have been a few great games I missed out on. I'm not one of those Switch owners that unrealistically wants every multiplatform game to be ported to Switch either, but I am excited when games are announced. So there is a market there, and a chance worth taking, but I guess we'll have to see how much of a market there actually is. I'll be buying it, either way.
I saved up and bought my NES all by myself as a five year old in 1989, and when the blue light from World 1-1 hit my face for the first time, it was love at first sight.
Well, I JUST got a Switch on Friday, and I spent yesterday afternoon playing Pan-Pan.
Also played Yoshi's Woolly World with my youngest sibling, and played some of the Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga remake.
Also slowly trying to finish Super Ghouls'n Ghost on the SNES Classic... Don't think I'll ever be able to do it without suspend points lol
@Al_Godoy Well, I'm glad you're alright. I have several friends who have family in the affected areas. Don't stress out too much tho; I'm sure you'll get your SNES.
Nice gesture with the donation, too!
I went to my local Wal Mart at 10:00 pm, just to be safe. Hung around Electronics for an hour and forty-five minutes while some dudes streamed games on a few of the laptops. There were about ten people there; We all got numbers, and got a SNES at midnight. I even left my card at home, had to go get it and come back, and I was still able to get one. They had about 30 in stock, and people showing up after launch were able to get it. I'm sure they're sold out now, but it was easily obtainable.
A lot better than when I camped out in 40° all night for the Wii lol
Didn't they ever try the 'analog' controls on Mario 64 DS? Why would anyone want 'touch screen buttons' for a game like Mario Galaxy, Halo, or God Of War?
It's also weird to see WWW and VC-R people together... Some of us just stuck to one site or the other... ~ Come on, people now... Smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now... ~
I'm still waiting for Pro Wrestling and Mayhem in Monsterland... Not to mention the countless other games we've already beaten to death and will probably never get... Wow, that sounds bitter... Excuse me, I'm just not feeling well lol
Big Hell's yeah on the FFIV: The After Years, but since I have most of the first four at least twice, I doubt I'll DL any of them... I dunno, I'm probably lying

Being someone who has never played EarthBound, I continually waited for news of this game to come to VC... Sigh I'm not buying that the music is the only hold-up, but I'm also pretty sure they'll let it stand as the excuse... Oh well... Stop it Nintendo... I defend you time and time again, but first you tell me I'm getting Pikmin for Wii only to find out it's the original Pikmin with "new Wii controls?" Last year you release the new Wii Animal Crossing to a rabid fan-base, only to find out it's a Wii version of Wild World? And now this? Ugh... /end vent
I wonder if the already available catalogue of games still possibly available (All those games we always whine about) will be used to eke out the remaining service days of the VC, meanwhile Nintendo releases something else for us to buy?
Total surprise. Even tho it's only one game, this is a good start for 2009! The Dream Land series isn't my favorite of Kirby's, but this is an instant download for me
Even if SMRPG isn't the best game on the VC, I will agree it's the best RELEASE; It had everyone up in arms one way or the other. Don't know if my Top Ten would include two shooters... But considering everything that was released in 08, that's probably a fair list
Oho! Perhaps I'll actually download a VC game this week! ...Still waiting for Pro Wrestling tho. And let's be different and throw Monster Party, Little Nemo, and Legacy of the Wizard in there, too n_n ... And don't even get me starte don the SNES wishlist (coughSoulBlazertrilogycough) lol
Good VC update IMO, so in the words of Cartman, "Quit yer bitchin'"
