It has been revealed that Flyhigh Works will be publishing a port of mobile rhythm game Cytus on Nintendo Switch, albeit under the new name of Cytus Alpha (or 'Cytus α').
The news comes from this week's issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu, with early scans revealing the information slightly before its official publication. Cytus Alpha is a full remake of the original game and has reportedly been described as a complete evolution from that smartphone edition.
No further details on this Switch port have been shared just yet, but Cytus was originally developed by Rayark - the studio behind other Switch rhythm titles VOEZ and Deemo. We really enjoyed both of these games, giving them an 8/10 and 9/10 respectively in our reviews, so we have high hopes for another mobile rhythm game coming to Switch from the same developer.

Hopefully we'll hear a little more about this one over the next days when Famitsu is properly released but, until then, why not let us know if you're intrigued by the idea of this game coming to Switch with a comment below.

Oh, thank The Maker!!
I'd be interested! I just downloaded the demo for Deemo over the weekend, and have enjoyed it. I love that it can all be played touchscreen in tablet mode; hopefully this new title incorporates that. But give me some time, Rayark, I still need to buy Deemo
Deemo and VOEZ are both excellent games so count me in.
Cytus is probably my favorite out of Rayark's rhythm game trio. Excellent subtle storytelling and a wider variety of music genres. Might end up double dipping on this, despite already pumping in hundreds of hours into the original.
I wanna know if this "remake" will be based on Cytus II or even better.
It's nice that we're getting more rhythm/music games but I'm more excited for Taiko no Tatsujin
I find it charming how Japanese developers typically aren't as used to doing visual design with the Roman alphabet, so quite often they pick some fonts that are a bit weird.
Here, my impression is they want it to looks stylish, but also soft and dreamy. And it achieves the last two, but on the level of looking like an 11-year-old girl's diary.
Can I get a new Bust-A-Groove instead, please? Who owns the rights? I loved the gameplay and most of the songs.
I do enjoy playing Deemo and VOEZ from time to time. I'll keep an eye on this one for my list. Loving the flow of rhythm games the Switch been getting.
@Pod the devs are Taiwanese.
@kepsux
Ah, my bad.
But I supose the same applies to mandarin speakers/writers, even if they do learn roman letters much earlier than the japanese for phonetic reasons.
Not my type but looks good.
Yay
@Eef I hope we get a Project Mirai game on the Switch someday, or preferably a Project Diva game.
@Eef They're pretty fun. I started with Project Mirai DX on 3DS, then played f and F 2nd on Vita, as well as on PS3.
I've also got the PS4 ones, but so far, the best is F 2nd because you can get custom edits to play and that one is the most recent one on PS3 ("recent"), although the PS4 games are nice because they run at 60 fps. The PS4 games don't allow custom songs because the PS4 does not let you put mp4 files on it.
@Eef I forgot to mention that although Project Diva Future Tone on PS4 doesn't allow for custom song edits, the game offers 230+ songs.
The base game is more of a demo with 2 songs, then the other songs are sold in 2 expansion packs for $30 each, or both for $55, I think. That way, you don't have to buy the full game and can choose how much content you want at a time. So you should check out the base game/demo on the PS store. It's free to download and if you like it, you can either get one song pack of about 100 songs for $30, or buy both packs at a slight discount.
There are also a few actual DLC songs from "Extra Encore Packs", but those might seem more expensive compared to the main song packs because you get a few songs and some modules for $8. There is also a "season pass" of sorts that is just a bundle of those DLCs, and if you get that, you also get a bunch of PSN avatars, so those are pretty nice to consider because they seem to be exclusive to the season pass.
@Eef lol nah, I just really like Future Tone and find is strange that I don't hear more people talk about one of Sony's best exclusives, seeing as how it's such an excellent rhythm game both content-wise and gameplay-wise. I can't imagine a port of FT on the Switch, but I really do hope we get some sort of Miku game throughout the Switch's life. It would be nice to have on the go, although I imagine that I'd end up killing my Joycons, haha.
The more Rayark releases one-and-done ports of their games, the more space I free up on my phone.
@GodOfPie Maybe that Future Tone is very arcadey rather than a steady unlock (like PMDX) or a scenario (like PDX), or that it's a free base platform/demo with the meat of the game as DLC (so less noticeable as a "full package"), or...no platinum? Still, even with all the NA trophies, I'm steadily getting scores on all charts. Hope there's another Mirai, though, as I love the (somehow less uncanny) visuals, alternate vocals (most making it to FT), the GUMI songs!, and the line-based charts, over the DIVA chunks.
[And I'm reminded of the two-songs-and-photo-mode DLC that's far overpriced for my taste, and that I missed out when it was erroneously free by some quirk.]
@Eef Nice! Have fun and make sure to not stay up every night playing and sleep.
These games are great and I hope they incorporate controller use like with the others! I bought the pro controller just for these games. I heard technika has similar gameplay to cytus.
