This week, Nintendo shadow-dropped a Mini Direct presentation. In it, the company confirmed some release dates, revealed some brand new games and rolled out updates for existing ones. There were a few other goodies like a game demo for Bravely Default II and the confirmation an ARMS character was coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
A lot of the new game announcements and release dates take us all the way up to June this year. There are titles like Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide and Mr. Driller: DrillLand to anticipate. If you're still trying to take in everything that was announced, Nintendo has now shared the following graphic. Enjoy!
Keep in mind, some of these games like Good Job!, Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy are already out - and so are updates for titles like Ring Fit Adventure. If you missed the Direct, check out our wrap-up.
What was your highlight of this week's Mini Direct? Leave a comment below.

Xcom2. Will double dip.
This is really only the first half of the year too...I wonder what the second half will look like?
Not really excited about anything here, I’m loving Animal Crossing but I don’t celebrate the Easter holiday, might pick up Xenoblade Chronicles one day
I'll buy all the games that are fully on the cartridge.
I'm still a little disappointed with the Direct Mini, although I liked what they have shown (except Pokemon). The problem is that we still don't know what to expect from Nintendo after XC DE this year, so we know as much as before this Direct (apart from the release date for XC DE, which has been leaked already anyway)
Great, but in reality it’s a loooot of ports and dlc. Still cannot wait for those ports to arrive
I can't wait to get more info on Burnout: Paradise!
There's not too much that excites me in this lineup if I'm being honest but my Xenoblade Chronicles, a few other niche games I have preordered and my massive backlog is already more than enough to keep me occupied.
King's Bounty 2 looked excellent. Along with Burnout, Bravely Default II, Ninjala, the ports of Bioshock and Boderlands. Also, XCOM 2 looks slick. My body is ready for the next few months.
Animal Crossing will keep me busy for a while, but Xenoblade, Catherine and Bravely Default II are going to be great!
Borderlands Collection can’t come fast enough.
Only ARMS Online tournament caught my attention.
51 Worldwide games was look interesting too.
Ports and DLC, yippee!
Not worth the six month direct wait but it was a mini I guess. Still would like to know what Nintendo are working on!
Burnout for me. Possibly Bioshock if the SD card can handle it.
On my second playthrough of Panzer Dragoon, it's great fun. Really looking forward to the 51 clubhouse games as well. I do kind of wish I could just buy Bioshock 1 by itself though
Literally not a single new title from Nintendo. The third party ports may be strong (IDK they aren't my kind of games), but Nintendo is still a barren wasteland post AC. Good thing it was Animal Crossing they put their wager on keeping us occupied through the long dry spell and not something like Mario Golf.
Kings Bounty 2 was a nice surprise, looks like a mix of Dragon Age and Age of Wonders, definitely will give that a try. Xenoblade Chronicles and Bravely Default 2 are must haves. People would definitely be less disappointed in this direct if half the games hadn't leaked beforehand
Good job is a load of fun. The way I see it Animal Crossing and Burnout paradise, and possibly Bioshock and 51 WWgames are more than enough to tie me over until the next big hitters come. BoTW2 I’m looking at you baby. In fact probably just witcher3 would be able to tie me over/ such a good game, completely hooked.
Aaaaand, pretty much nothing for me.
Nintendo Switch has games.
Only thing I wanted out of this Direct was either a third-party name for Smash, or a Kingdom Hearts HD Remix port announcement. The Direct Mini had neither, although I have to say that as far as first-party fighters go an ARMS rep is a MUCH better choice than whatever Byleth is supposed to be.
@Aurumonado
And all games that aren't will get the message that Switch players are not interested in third-party support, thus screwing whatever support we have.
This problem, goes without saying, is then multiplied tenfold with indies.
Many good titles threre. Definitely sure I will get four of them day one:
That 51 games looks pretty great...it really needs to release now though..our family is going mental locked up together..lol
The best of the direct though was definitely Xenoblade Chronicles..loved the sequel but couldn't get into the first one on the 3ds..was too fiddly.
I'll pick Burnout Paradise for sure! What the hell
Other ports that I'm interested would be Bioshock and Star Wars Racer 🤔
Bravely Default and Xenoblade are looking good too though I'm not sure if I'll pick them right away
Other than that, I'm interested in the new Harmonix game (Fuser)
@WesEds I don't celebrate Easter either, in fact I am not religious in the slightest. That won't stop me from collecting eggs in a video game with anthropomorphic animals.
this one lacks the proper DLC logos
i made a better one look:

The last week of May is looking to have plenty of major game releases, I wonder if the Battle for Bikini Bottom remake will still come out near the end of May.
BURNOUT PARADISE
I wish Pikmin was on that info graphic...
very weak line up but this is for the next three months so hopefully we still get another Direct in June that sets out the rest of the year, I'm starting to think there will not be a big holiday game because of this virus effecting everything
Apart from Trials of Mana and the Animal Crossing update, everything in the Direct was either shadow drop (March 26th), release next day (March 27th) or after May 28th. Very rough 2 months ahead.
Maybe cut them a little slack eh? The biggest nintendo game of the year just came out, and any other AAA titles (if any were planned for this year) , are likely delayed due to the pandemic. We are super lucky that anything is coming out on time this year.
@Zeldawakening botw 2? or the rumors for paper mario or metroid? at least I hope
i need to get a sd card, my poor switch can't carry all these games on only 32 gb
@mariomaster96 We will most likely get a MAIN Direct in June with the 2nd half of the year's games I would rather them wait and tell us when they are ready than rush out info and have to delay games and then we are back at square 1.
@sheriff don’t hold your breath for something bigger than animal crossing. I did think paper mario was highly likely, but idk now. I’m sure everything is delayed.
@Aurumonado How do you do that with all the games with patches, day one updates and dlc?
Hope to see more first party titles in June. Really noticing a lack of AA Nintendo games. Things like Mario sports, Pikmin, Kirby, etc. Like many, I was under the assumption that consolidating the console and handheld divisions would result in more titles. Perhaps, Switch development is that much more resource intensive.
@nessisonett Somebody smarter and more talented than me needs to white out all the ports and DLC - not red Ghostbusters circles, just whiteout - leaving only the new games that haven't released yet - Animal Crossing already released and is really only in there for DLC.
I'll allow Mana b/c I played the demo and it looks NOTHING like the original. So close to a new game. XC got HDd.
Bravely Default II for me, maybe Trials of Mana or Xenoblade Chronicles if I have leftover money next month.
Vigor seems really interesting🤔. Pretty cool gameplay loop with the scavaging and upgrading the shelter👍🏻. Also Third person Looter Shooters is missing on Switch💪🏻
Can’t wait until Metroid prime 4 is on this and hopefully MP Trilogy
Has there been an update on when Outer Worlds is coming out? It initially was set for March, then delayed due to COVID-19, and still no announcement on when it's coming. Wonder if it will just be a "shadow drop."
Also, according to Amazon, Journey to the Savage Planet is coming to the Switch in June, yet nothing was mentioned about it during the last direct. Will it be announced in the next Direct?
Finally, would love a release date for the Switch version of Doom Eternal.
@jwfurness Animal Crossing New Horizons is breaking records during a pandemic for Nintendo. They are doing just fine with first party titles according to revenue numbers.
I'm one of those weirdos who wanted a Nintendo console that was supported by third party developers, so I'm pleased with all the ports. I'd just like to see more from Rockstar beyond L.A. Noire.
@Zeldawakening Me too! I don’t know if you watched the Direct, but they said that the ARMS character in Smash would be announced this June. That makes me think they will still have a major Direct in the absence of E3
I can't wait for the new Clubhouse Games. There's some other games there that are probably going to be fun too, but, Clubhouse Games is the game I've been wanting for at least a decade. Aside from 2d Mario, I think these different kinds of games that Nintendo make are what makes that company so special. I see people complaining about not getting another big 3d adventure game, and I keep thinking haven't we gotten that already in a million different skins? That stuff is fine, but, I'm tired of the same old genres.
I'm thinking new 3D Mario for this year bring revealed with the E3 direct.
Xenoblade Chronicles on Day one. I'll be taking the day off!
I'll be taking the Bravely Default II demo for a ride later.
Still waiting on reviews, but Good Job! looks like a fun, quirky title.
BioShock Collection is coming!
All in all, I'm quite pleased.
A lot to like here, especially for JRPG fans. Next few months will add even more to the backlog. 😁
@quinnyboy58 in a way, stocking so much third party stuff in a single mini direct rather than a full direct is interesting since stuff loike 2k collection was very much full direct grade imo?
I could be proven wrong but that means that's a LOT of third party stuff that won't have to be shown once a full direct land. Which makes me wonder if when we DO get a full direct if we shouldn't expect a fair amount of first party surprises despite current perception of a slow year.
@Zorox88 honestly for a mini direct it had enough major third party announcement in the 2k Collection stuff alone yet so little first party stuff that i'm REALLY curious about the -next- Direct.
Because honestly it almost kind of feel like they're making sure the next one will have plenty of space for first party announcements?
@KBuckley27 affecting
Nintendo fans "they need to release info and games in a direct now!!!!! I'm begging you...I'll take anything"
Nintendo drops direct....
Nintendo fans try to sound honest while lying to themselves and others. "it's alright I had a big backlog anyways."
Only Bioshock for me, and maybe Bravely Default 2. I still think Bravely Third would've been a dope title.
Aside from those, I'll get DOOM Eternal and The Outer Worlds, but those don't have a date yet, unfortunately. I wonder if we'll ever get a Switch version of a AAA game day and date with the other versions, since DOOM Eternal was supposed to be the first game to do that; with next-gen on the horizon, though, it's getting less and less likely to happen at all.
16 there I already own, have preordered or plan to get
@Juga awesome, thanks for that
Catherine Full Body was easily the highlight third party wise
Definitely triple dipping on that
This might be a sign they actually took feedback from one of their consumer surveys for once and will bring SMT games and Persona content (I'd kill for an Eternal Punishment PSP localization) over in the future
Also stoked as hell for Warhammer 40K, XCOM 2, Borderlands (even if I own them all on PC) and Burnout Paradise
The big thing for me was the reveal ARMS would be in Smash, even if I kind of got spoiled online because I missed the Direct. Other than that, I'm getting the Pokemon DLC, Ninjala, and I'll keep and eye on Mr.Driller, Shinsekai Into the Depths, and Good Job.
Good Job in particular looked really fun and polished. Will probably grab it after seeing a few reviews, main concern is just the content level for $20.
My big highlight would be Saints Row I guess. but it barely counts
Trials of mana and the wonderful 101 remastered are the only games i have to look forward to this year, so far. The direct mini was rather meh for me.
Not to mention the stuff announced for Japan. Looking forward to shiren!
I’ll be putting down on 19 of these plus 2 from the Japanese direct. Be it DLC or buying games. Switch has been doing fine by me.
Xenoblade chronicles de, bravely default 2, and trials of mana are the three games I'm most excited for
I was pleasantly surprised with all of the quality games that were shown in that Nintendo Direct. It was definitely a fun video to watch.
@Wazeddie22 - as I was watching the direct I was hoping, available now, for the 51 world games........hopefully by June we won't need it as much but still looks like some fun
A new Mr Driller game sounds fun.
@Dpullam quality? theres nothing new ports and remakes 3 new games
@Harmonie Good Job and Worldwide Games are actually both Nintendo titles that were newly announced... Though they aren't the big titles that we were perhaps hoping for.
@NintendoPok And I haven't actually played alot of those ports. Getting to play them on my favorite game console is a huge plus. Perhaps you don't see ports of games as quality, but being ports doesn't make them bad. They are still good games, which more people should get to play. Is that such a bad thing? Nintendo never claimed this Nintendo Direct was going to blow minds with new announcements of first party games. I am happy with what we got, and I am excited to play some of them, ports or new releases.
This is a bunch of ports and dlc
@Harmonie
They're publishing Good Job and announced 51 Classics
@jwfurness
I totally agree with your comment. Years ago nintendo were knocking out titles left, right and centre on a monthly basis for multiple consoles?! Now with one main console they should be doing better than this.
However with the current situation I do understand that was possibly the going to be a larger showcase than the one broadcast.
Looking forward to Burnout, Clubhouse Games and my copy of Animal Crossing which is stuck in the post system somewhere in the uk.
And so the great Nintendo drought continues!
Never played Borderlands or Bioshock since I've been strictly a Nintendo gamer, so really looking forward to those. And Xenoblade of course.
@Gerbwmu 'hopefully by June we won't need it as much' Yep,that right there..but sadly I think this is going to go on for a lot longer. But yeah gotta admit I thought it was going to be a 'released today' too.
I really do like what was shown in the Direct - but at the same time, it baffles me that they didn't announce even a single new first party game or even a Wii U port - several of which a lot of us still want.
Xenoblade is Monolith, Pokemon is Game Freak. Aside from Animal Crossing updates (which I am 100% in favor of) what is Nintendo working on for the rest of the year's releases?
Could Nintendo have overdone it with the first three years and now found itself running out of plans?
I'll double dip on both Bioshock and Borderlands. Admittedly, I've been hoping for Borderlands 2 and the pre sequel on switch since 2018, those games would be so nice to play on the go. Really hyped for Xenoblade and Bravely Default the most. Keeping my fingers crossed for BD2 to release by the end of August at the latest.
@Dethmunk Yeah I don't get this port whining. Not everyone who picked up a Switch is some Very Serious Gamer™ who owns every single console and a PC and has played every single big title on every system for the past however many years. There will be a lot of lapsed gamers getting back into it, new gamers, people who couldn't play them before because life got in the way but portability gives them time to, and kids who will have never played them, and now with the added bonus that you can play them anywhere.
@Dpullam i understand you didnt get to play but most people did continue to support rehashes is what is killing the game industry except FFVII remake thats a whole new game. seriously dude
@WiltonRoots most people played these already the people who didnt get to play probably never played videogames until now did people have a bad childhood?
@NintendoPok I understand that. If it bothers you that much, vote with your wallet. I am pleased to have more options on how to play good games, ports or new experiences. Simply because my life pattern has changed. Trust me, I get why a huge influx of ports is a bad mark on the industry, but as far as I am concerned, it doesn't affect me due to my limited opportunities to play games regardless. Besides, as far as I can tell, and I pay very close attention to the game industry, it is thriving. Getting bigger, and bigger. I can guarantee ports aren't causing the game industry as a whole to go down the gutter. There are still an incredible variety of new games being released.
@NintendoPok Could you please define “most people”. Who are “most people”? You got actual figures to back up your statement? Maybe some people have lives and don’t sit staring at screens playing games all day. Worth considering.
EDIT: Looks at the dude's post history, obnoxious troll with horrifically bad social skills, probably only has human contact via voice chat, don't bother responding.
