Last week, perhaps one of the most unexpected announcements of the Nintendo Direct Mini was Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics. Switch eShop pre-orders went live right after the presentation for $39.99 USD, but there was no mention of a physical release at the time.
Nintendo of America has now shared a picture of the game box art on Twitter, seemingly confirming a hard copy is on the way.
51 tabletop classics from around the world are coming together on #NintendoSwitch! Check out some of your favorites and discover and learn new ones when #ClubhouseGames: 51 Worldwide Classics releases on 6/5.
As revealed in the title, this follow-up to the original Nintendo DS game contains 51 tabletop classics. Some of these include Mancala, Slot Cars, Sliding Puzzle and Texas Hold 'em. There'll also be local and online play for up to four players, making it the perfect party game.
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics arrives on 5th June and will require 2 GB of free space if you decide to purchase the digital version.

This collection is perfect for me because I like games and don't have friends.*
*This is not literally true but close enough.
Oh thank goodness! I would've bought digital, but physical is so much better
I am definitely getting it.
Wasn't this already open for preorders at Gamestop, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. just after the direct mini aired?
I feel like that would be proof enough that a physical version was coming, but then again they do sell Fortnite "physical versions" that only come with a digital code...
I enjoy a good "casual" game now & then (I'm currently really enjoying Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and even pull out Go Vacation from time to time), and this looks like it'll be the next one to join my collection.
Looks like it has the standard high level of polish (at least graphically) as other first party Nintendo releases, so I'm pretty excited.
Still curious when Brain Training is coming to the US though (I was sure it'd be dated during the Direct, but it's still absent).
@Toy_Link To my knowledge, the Nintendo PR and original Mini announcement only referenced the eShop version. This seems to be the first time Nintendo has officially acknowledged it. I guess it's nice to know if you're a physical collector.
This is one that I would have probably preferred as a digital exclusive at a lower price point. I'm somewhat interested but probably not interested enough for the price.
>but there was no mention of a physical release at the time.
Not verbally, but it was confirmed visually during the Direct itself.
During Directs, when they get to the end of a video trailer for the game, they will typically show a slide that has the game logo in the middle and release date in the red section below. Above the game logo (so, top-middle of the screen), Nintendo will put a "Nintendo eShop" logo for digital-only releases. Games that get physical releases will be blank above. The release-date slide for Clubhouse Games does not have the "Nintendo eShop" logo, while games like Ninjala (which undoubtedly will be digital-only) do have the logo. This is not something new, it's something Nintendo has done for all of their Switch Directs.
This was never a secret. Physical pre-orders were available shortly after the Direct was released.
I am tempted to import the US version though as it mains the "Clubhouse Games" branding as opposed to the Australian release, which is branded in accordance with the painfully generic European title of "51 Worldwide Classics" (WHY?!!!!), even though the DS/DSi entries were released under the "Clubhouse Games" branding in Australia (back when our releases corresponded to the US versions as opposed to Europe).
I can't fathom why they are releasing it with such a generic title in Europe, which would only serve to harm its success as many may understandably mistake it for a generic shovelware release.
Yaaay....!!! 😃😃😃
I will add to my shopping list.
Might get this if it's not too expensive.
Yes, I’ve already preordered the physical from Best Buy, you’re late to the story, NintendoLife.
@RR529 I’m personally hoping for a new “Wii Sports” Nintendo/Switch Sports? That seems perfect for the Switch as a casual sports and family game.
I read that as Suda 51...
I really enjoyed this on the DS.
I will probably be getting this.
Enjoyed the original DS version and I was completely surprised when they revealed the switch one. I'll definitely be getting it but hopefully can get it around £25-£30. Managed to get the DS one pretty cheap all those years ago.
Pre-ordered back on March 27th from Best Buy. As it stands this is the most exciting game we know about this year post Xenoblade Chronicles for Switch. Sad but true statement, I know.
Tempted to import the US version as well to get the real title and not the subtitle-titled European version.
@RR529 Go Vacation is such a great game. Wish Nintendo could make a Wii/Mii/Switch Sports with the same kind of explorable world as Go Vacation.
I feel this could had easily been a pack-in game for the Switch Lite. Imagine how much more the Switch Lite would sell with this bundle with it. Nintendo would be sleeping in a wave of cash had that happen.
Still digital for me, this is one of those which will get quick plays pretty much all the time so I'd rather just have it ready
Cool for all those who like digital. I assumed it was going to be a physical release but I plan on picking this up digitally anyway.
If anyone’s curious about the changes in the game list between the DS game and this one:
Brand new: Mancala, Hare and Hounds, traditional connect 4, Richi mahjong, Golf, Nine Men’s Morris, Air Hockey, War, Carrom, Yacht Dice, Tayoyaki, Hex, Spider Solitaire, Shooting Gallery, Slot Cars, Hit and Blow, Pig’s Tail, Fishing, Toy Tennis, Toy Soccer, Toy Baseball, Toy Boxing, Toy Curling, Battletanks, Team Tanks, Sliding Puzzle, 6 Ball Puzzle
Returning: Hanafuda, Backgammon, Reversi, Checkers, President, Dominoes, Spit, Blackjack, Chess, Shogi, Mini Shogi, Ludo, Sevens, Darts, Texas Hold Em, Chinese Checkers, Pool, Connect 5, Matching, Bowling, Dots and Boxes, Mahjong Solitaire, Uno, Solitaire
Cut: Old Maid, Bullcrap, Pig, Hearts, Rummy, Seven Bridge, Nap, Spades, Contract Bridge, Battleship, Field Tactics, Soda Shake, Hangman, Balance Board, Takeover, Escape
I think this is one I would prefer to have digital. Would be handy to be able to just boot it up for the odd quick game without having to change cartridge. I will be going digital for this.
@blockfight Same here. Also it's only a 2GB download according to the eShop.
This would be the PERFECT game for us right now. Was definitely a highlight within the direct!
defo want it! will add to my watchlist for a sale. I am doing this for a lot of games as sales come along so often and I already have a backlog of games!
Physical makes this game a must-buy now
I have 2 questions:
If we can have hanafuda and blackjack on a Nintendo system, why not the Yakuza games?
... and why was this game, a blue ocean, non-gamer-oriented title, not released at launch in 2017?
Digital for me, but glad there will be a physical release for those who want it.
I want a physical copy, but probably will go digital because this is actually something I will play a lot. I foresee a lot of lost hours to games like solitaire, hearts and a few other favorites.
Man this also makes me miss the original Hoyle Games from Sierra...
This is one of the few instances where I would prefer to buy it digitally, just because of the nature of the game itself. I'm really excited for this long overdue sequel.
Ordered it already. This is a great family game that I'm sure will get lots of play over the course of the year. Especially if the pandemic lasts into june and beyond
Hmm... I have something like this for the 3DS. It's OK, but I found it to be a case of quantity over quality. I think it would have been better if there were less games, but have them better developed. I wonder if this will be the same way?
