Well it's something I guess.
Yikes, better be some bangers in here! I can already hear the mobs sharpening their pitchforks lol!
MY BODY IS READY!
Yessss, I really love these indie showcases. Almost as much as the bigger Directs.
Plus wasn't there a rumour that we'd be getting an indie showcase this week and a Direct next week?
About time took them long enough I hope a general is near
Silksongggg
theres a rumor that said that we get a indie showcase this week and a generall direct next week
so theres hope
@BenAV yes I think there was
Well didn't someone say that there would be two streamings this month where one would be the direct if I remember correctly? 🤔 then it's possible that a direct comes next week
Better be baldo
Yep, the rumour is basically confirmed: indies this week and regular next week
Hopefully Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Cuphead DLC is present.
@BenAV That rumour said Indie World was on the 18th, not 17th so that's a point against the rumour.
This is a great and all, but I hope Nintendo is soon ready for a full Nintendo Direct. I hope the 2 streams rumor is true.
I’ve got bothering else to do because of all the shutdowns, so I welcome the presentation.
@Grumblevolcano It'll be the 18th here so close enough.
I recently made the jump to PS so I’m no longer that anxious about Nintendo dry land
Panzer Dragoon Remake 🤞
D: Does this mean the rumors were real..? They said we'd get an Indies Direct on March 18 then an actual Direct on 26th or so... THIS IS SUFFICIENTLY ACCURATE!
Still waiting for a general Direct, but I'll definitely tune in. Can't wait!
Cool! Wonder if we will get some No more heroes news!
Also, definitely backing up the Direct rumour 🤞
6pm isn't a great time for me, but I'll be tuning in later in the evening to catch-up. I'll be wearing something sexy...
I wonder if the new game similar to Stardew Valley will be shown?
whats the difference between Indie World and Nindies Showcase?
@mariomaster96 There’s nothing scheduled after Animal Crossing so I think they have to put out a Direct next week.. but it’s been so long
@mariomaster96 Yep, that was the first thought that popped into my head. It said the general Direct was to follow on the 26th, if I remember correctly.
Come on Nintendo, REGULAR nintendo direct! (and give us Mother 3)
So the chances of a direct next week seem likely
Panzer Dragoon remake tomorrow with release date this winter.
Good, now the babies will stop whining for a few minutes about a lack of Directs.
@glorymade Indie World I think is hosted by NoE versus Nindies is hosted by NoA.
What I hope to see
Hollow Knight - Silksong trailer and release date
Layers of Fear 2 finally announced for Switch
The reveal of Playdead's (Inside & Limbo) next game.
I'm optimistic about the first two, not so much the latter. I imagine that will get a standard multiplatform reveal.
It makes sense to do an Indies World Showcase a few days before the release of a major first-party franchise (Animal Crossing). If a full Nintendo Direct was tomorrow, wouldn’t that potentially cannibalize sales from Animal Crossing? People saving their cash when “something better” shows up on the Direct? This makes sense to me. Independent games are (often) not $60. Would not be surprised with a full Direct the next few weeks after Animal Crossing releases.
Why have they announced indie world before a general direct!?! Oh nintendo, making things worse!!!
With the amount of shutdowns and delays lately, it's finally good to see something at least happening! Long live Nintendo!
Fingers crossed for CrossCode, Eastward and Pillars of Eternity II! The last one especially because the physical version appeared all over the Polish online stores and the ads are driving me mad.
Better have panzer dragoon, streets of rage 4 and windjammers 2 news including solid dates
@Grumblevolcano It will be the 18th in Japan though. Perhaps the leaker's source is Japanese?
Also how cool would it be if the command and conquer remake is announced? I was thinking it’s possible as blade runner is coming to switch and that’s Westwood too right? It’s not been announced for any of the console yet but was a big hit on consoles in the 90s 🤞🏻
there will be a main direct after Animal Crossing releases
i cant stand anyone complaining about getting an Indie direct when we still have a major title to be released in 5 days
SHANTAE
SHANTAE
SHANTAE
...please!
Oh, and I want updates on Cris Tales, World of Horror, and Baldo as well.
@TAndvig grow up kid, the main direct is around the corner
I’d prefer a true direct but I’ll take anything at the moment. Nintendo need to knock it up a gear
Hoping for an update on Sports Story (from Golf Story guys), one of my most anticipated games this year
@Miles_Edgeworth I really would love to see silksong, axiom verge 2, and ports of behemoth games and lisa the painful
@carlos82 not an indie game but ok
Nintendo once again giving the fans something they are not interested in
@TAndvig indie games are real games kid
@Grumblevolcano It's the 18th for Japan.
@KBuckley27 not true. If they announce good indies or show info on silksong and axiom Verge 2 I'm in
@Mother_Fan how original. Cough cough play the fan translation
@quinnyboy58 Forgot about that. I loved Golf Story,
Yay... Indie Direct ! 😀
Hopefully there is at least 1 indie game i have interest about.
Oh FFS.
Good thing that rumour was out there about 2 Directs this month, but seriously, eShop has 12 indie games every single week, we need the meat and potatoes, not the parsley on the side.

Not What i was hoping for but ill take it!
I predicted this last week 😁
Panzer Dragoon will almost definitely release this week, so I'm excited.
I've had more fun with indies on Switch than first party games, so I'm very happy about this.
Fine by me, I love indie games. I'm still hoping for Cadence of Hyrule DLC
@jswhitfield8 It will be next thursday according to rumors
@PickledKong64 Nah, they are on level of mobile games.
This is good - BUUUTTTT No Direct this far into the year is getting a wee bit weird.
@glorymade Be triggered if you want, but majority of Indie games are crap, that is just facts. Do the math if you want.
Hoping for some cool indies to fill in the gaps before the big releases post Animal Crossing.
@Ralizah Hold the Shantae for the general Direct! And the Smash reveal!
@glorymade do MegaPixel studios not qualify as an indie developer? Forever Entertainment publish lots of indie games
Yeah finally! Indie games are always a breath of fresh air.
We need more games like Tricky Tower, Snipperclippers, Tower of Babel... Switch is made for local multi!
I don't count this. Nintendo has no games to show to make a general Nintendo Direct; this tells me.
W00t always some gems in indie world! Pretty hyped! I’m sure the usual negative nelsons will complain but I am quite happy for this news! Would love a release date for indivisible.
@TAndvig have you ever played an indie kid? Lol you're actually making me laugh haha. Go back to playing fortnite and roblox kid
@TAndvig what indie game is on the level of mobile? Please tell me kid
Normal Directs are usually in a few weeks after Indie Directs.
Please physical of Panzer Dragoon, but just give us a proper Driect
Couldn't care less about this, I want the real Direct!
@DreamerDC
Speak for yourself two of my favorite games from last year were Ape Out and Katana Zero, both in an Indie Direct of 2019
@Eddyson @OorWullie @BenAV I prefer considering it as deconfirmation and being pleasantly surprised if a general Direct is announced next week than considering it confirmation and find out no general Direct comes next week.
@rjejr Microsoft is continuing to be impressive on the sharing info about the future front. A massive amount of new details came in about Series X earlier today.
Hopefully this isn't like last time and we actually get a real direct afterwards. I just want to know what to plan for this year games wise, because right now my slate of games i'm picking up is super slim for any system.
Maybe its already been said up in the messages, but this could be a good sign. Remember, the rumor recently was 2 Directs (an Indie showcase and regular Direct) by the end of the month. This is the first of those two rumors being confirmed. So...this gives me hope that a regular Direct will follow next within the next couple of weeks...hopefully next week...because the sooner the better! I want some solid info on XC:DE dang nabbit! That's the only pre-order I have left (as AC will be out in a few days, and My Hero Academia: One's Justice 2 collector's edition has already been picked up).
@Rpg-lover I agree about Baldo, I was just reminded about it yesterday when I happen to come across a trailer on youtube and wondered what happened to it.
@Sebatrox FTL?
Woooo–bloody–hoooo! I love the Indie Showcases. Hopefully that means we’ll get the proper Direct next week, too!
@gigoloaunt7 I spoke to Subset games last week about FTL. They told me they had 'nothing to announce', but were 'aware of the interest in FTL on Switch'.
Skater XL release date please! Lets get some news about Session coming to switch too! And THPS reboot??? All praise the skate gods!
I'm cool with this.
Mostly been playing indie games on my Switch so far.
@Grumblevolcano "A massive amount of new details came in about Series X earlier today."
Thanks. Myself and about 3 other people are reading about it over on "sister site" Pure Xbox.
https://www.purexbox.com/
But just like Nintneod had to advertise Switch so much more after Wii U's failure, MS HAS to talk up XSX after what could be considered an equivalent failure for X1. Sure, X1 outsold Wii U, double, or likely triple, but unlike Nintneod MS does see itself as a Sony competitor, and PS4 sales are double to triple X1.
And personally I think MS shot itself in the foot, yes yet again, w/ it's "No XSX exclusives for the first year" comment. PS5 might not have any exclusives "at launch" either, but 1 full year? Day 1 buyers will buy regardless, but what about 3 months, 6 months, 9 months? Who's buying 1 then when their X1 plays all the same games? Switch had the dual release Zelda (less said about 1 2 Switch the better) at launch but Mario Odyssey 8 months later surely, that sold some consoles. (Full disclosure I bought the $380 bundle.)
So yeah, MS hitting the road, knocking on doors, getting the word out, which is good, but I think they need to more than Sony does. Though Sony needs to respond now, or soon, and not just keep talking up TLOOU2 and Ghosts. People wanna now. Like a Direct.
@PickledKong64 how mature.
@TAndvig Hate to burst your bubble (no I don't) but the majority of AAA games are crap, too. But someday you'll grow out of the childish and obviously mistaken and misguided belief that AAA games are real and indie games aren't, and when you do I'm sure you're mom will be so proud as she watches you move out of her basement.
@carlos82 "Panzer Dragoon is a series of video games by Sega, created first by its internal Team Andromeda and later, the Smilebit development team."
is Sega considered independent?
unless u mean an indie dev studio and publisher are behind the remake?
but wouldn't the property still be considered major not indie?
@TAndvig On the level of mobile games? Are you mad? Okay, so indies aren’t YOUR thing, but many of us pour more hours into indie games than we do the big AAA’s. Stop being such a little b!tc#.
@Mother_Fan i happen to agree with him though, where @Tandvig is completely wrong and immaturely spewing his weak opinion about indie games
@The_Pixel_King thanks for the update mate, glad to know there is interest about it!
I bet they’re waiting until after ACNH is released.
Sports Story Sport Story Sports Story Sports Story. Axiom Verge 2 Axiom verge 2 Axiom Verge 2. Come on baby!
@JokerCK My body is Reggie
some proper numpty's in this thread! indie games can be magnificent, of course there are bad one but that goes the same with normal direct games too.
Awesome! Here's hoping for Fire Pro Wrestling again!
I haven't heard anything from The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe except for a 2020 release. I'd love it if the game made an appearance tomorrow, show off some video, maybe a bit less vague release date like "summer 2020."
@glorymade I'm well aware of Panzer Dragoons history having bought the original at launch but today this is simply being developed on licence by a very small developer and publisher. I wouldn't call it a major franchise these days, I don't even know if its getting a physical release at what point is a game not classed as an indie title, I genuinely don't know
@glorymade just flicked through a couple of old videos and Streets of Rage 4 was in the last indie video, is there much difference between that and this. The main reason I suggest this is due to the developer still insisting its releasing this Winter and this seems to be the last opportunity, though I could well see it happening in next weeks rumoured full direct
@TAndvig
I have some great indie games such as Portal Knights, Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles, Overcooked 2, Earthlock, etc.
They don't even look like cheap mobile games.
They look like B or A grade games.
Exciting! Hoping for an indie game along the lines of San Francisco Rush; collectathon x racing x adventure/exploring x tricks x points
I’ve been voicing my want for something like that here for awhile. It’s been enough to make me want to actually start trying to learn to code so I can make my own! Anyway, yeah, good times ahead.
What @AFernandes03 said, at least I hope.
There's GOTTA be something worth the news drought.
SUPERHOT 2 as a timed exclusive, perhaps? Or maybe... guys, is there a notable indie that's still non-Nintendo-exclusive?
Oh man, all I want from this direct is a release date for Baldo... that game looks amazing!
Here’s my Indie Showcase wishlist. If even one or two of these came to fruition, I’d be over the moon!
Carrion
Disco Elysium
FTL: Faster Than Light
Grindstone
Hades
Outer Wilds
Papers, Please
Spelunky 2
The Unfinished Swan
Wattam
The Witness
Zero Ranger
Hoping we see more of that SUPERMASH game...
Interested in that if it’s not too expensive...
Hollow Knight: Silk Song shadow dropping tomorrow, that is my prediction.
Windjammers 2 release date pleeeease!
@The_Pixel_King
Nice to see that someone knows Zero Ranger here.
@rjejr Crazy how the biggest Sony news this year so far is Horizon Zero Dawn losing its PS4 exclusivity.
@BenAV Yeah... Hopefully.
Shovel Knight Dig release date! Please!
@Hobbesyall
Why not having and playing both? I can't understand why people need to focus on only one console. :/
It has been a dry year for Nintendo Switch gamers, can't disagree with that, but we've still got more than another half of 2020 to go.
It doesn't seem like many would agree, but i'm almost more excited for upcoming indie games. I love indie games and you never know what crazy idea might be the next big thing.
"#NotMyDirect" - the fandom right now.😆
But speaking seriously, nothing not to welcome. Indivisible release date, perchance? Or even tangible port plans for Billie Bust Up? And I'm resuming the crossed finger stance for The World Next Door sequel in particular, too.
@Lando_ that’s my case I’m not getting rid of my Switch ! But I originally thought we would have less dry periods
I guess its possible: Indies tomorrow, bigger stuff at the end of the month. Keep in mind that the first half of the year is always slow at Nintendo's, and after that the stuff gets released. Especially in the last few months of the year. Besides, they have Animal crossing to get them through the first half. Not my game, but there you go.
That being said I wouldn't be surprised if Switch is on the way out and Switch 2 is coming closer. A significant more powerful device. After all I hear the Switch has gone down a bit in popularity, just a bit. And they have to counter the upcoming rival consoles. Of course those will be much more powerful still.
That might be one of the reasons why it has become sooo quite. But of course all the money and people are on Zelda and Metroid, and Zelda might be saved for a (possible) E3 Direct. Or a different Direct since E3 is cancelled.
@mariomaster96 yes turns out that rumour was at least 50% correct! Let’s hope it’s 100%!
Cool for indie devs, with E3 getting cancelled they need all the advertising they can get. I’m personally not excited, but hopefully that rumor was true and we get a big direct next week. I find it hard to believe since to my knowledge we’ve never gotten a big direct that late in a month, but who knows.
This essentially confirms the rumors and that a regular direct will be out next week.
"Hollow Knight: Silksong is available, RIGHT NOW".
Not the Direct I want but it is the Direct I need. Announcing more games coming is never a bad thing.
I’ve really started to enjoy these almost as much as the actual Directs. I’m excited!
HOLLOW KNIGHT SILKSONG IS MY MOST ANTICIPATED GAME OF 2020.
Here's what I am hoping for:
Blasphemous dlc release-date and trailer (I finished this lovely game this weekend and heard there's free dlc coming).
Hollow knight Silksong release-date
Ori and the will of the wisps anounced for Switch. You know they said it wouldn't happen, but I am sure it will happen someday. It might be to soon though.
If slime rancher shows up, I'll be happy. That and Subnautica are the only 2 indie games that I desperately want on switch.
Finally, something resembling a direct. And during my lunch break too! Hopefully that's a trend that keeps up at the very least.
@EVIL-C no one was acting like a baby asking for a Direct. We haven’t had one in 6 months.
Has anyone moaned about how this isn’t a general direct yet?
Joking aside, this should be interesting since there are some awesome indie games in the nebulous future. Silksong, skatebird, deltarune, sludge life etc
@JSDude1 Not from what I read. You can tell yourself anything you like.
@Entrr_username how?
@HeroOfCybertron i know, been waiting for it ever since the first announcement and it all of a sudden went silent. No update, no word about it. So I'm really hoping for some update about it whether it will still be releasing? Or cancelled?.
@PickledKong64 hardly anyone cares about Indie games and nobody was asking for another indie world since we had one just 3 months ago and it sucked
I'm ready for whatever announcements may come.
@KBuckley27 indie games are not only a massive part of the switch experience, they are one of the reasons it’s so successful. Don’t be a dunce
@Crockin Ok maybe not actually confirmed but I'm basing it off of this rumor
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/03/rumour_two_nintendo_presentations_expected_to_air_before_the_end_of_march
@KBuckley27 Well you're replying to an article about indie games, so someone cares
A new SteamWorld game from Image & Form please!!
While I would love the Ori sequel on Switch, I’m not holding my breath. One day maybe, but highly doubtful this close to launch. Besides, I heard it ran poorly on the base XB1 and XBSAD. Yes, Ori supposedly was being fixed by a day one patch, but that’s not exactly looking good for a Switch port this soon, if at all.
There are a lot of Metroidvania games I see in the works, I’d love to see them on Switch. I can never get enough of a good Metroidvania game.
I’d love announcements on the following, in no particular order.
Forgone
Flynn Son of the Crimson
Inmost
Minoria
Rune Fencer Illyia
Shantae
Looking forward to it. I wonder if there will be another stealth drop at the end.
Still hoping for Invisible Inc. on Switch, but most of all I'd love to see more off Sports Story and maybe get a release date.
I had no idea there was only one time zone in Europe but I guess you learn something new every day.
Well, there was a rumour saying there’d be one of these before the next direct...
@Grumblevolcano HZD may have been the biggest Sony gaming news any year, fanbois gonna fanboi. 😝
Personally my biggest PS news this year is almost every single PS4 game being delayed. FF7R, TLOU2, Marvel's Avengers, Iron Man PSVR. Plus there were others. But, compared to Switch, the PS4 has some big games upcoming.
"Indie World"?
What happened to "Nindies Showcase"?
Indie World implies the existence of a Super Indie World
@rjejr I'm glad HZD is coming to PC, Nintendo's still somehow the only console creator that takes gyro controls seriously. The Dualshock 4 has a gyroscope yet it barely gets used for anything, pretty sure only the PC and Switch versions of DOOM Eternal allows motion aiming for example.
@KBuckley27 not everything, just most of it. There is usually one or two hidden “jewels” in these Indy presentations (though not always). I always look for those and ignore the rest.
Remember, last Indie Direct showed us Cadence of Hyrule.
@KBuckley27 it was alright but this indie world will be awesome if they have Hollow Knight Silksong, Ori, Cuphead DLC and other surprises. Hopefully we get ports like Lisa, the Behemoth games and Environmental Station Alpha. Also it makes 0 sense to have a direct be4 ani al crossing release
I have no expectations for indies. So... maybe I will be surprised?
There have been some indies I have really liked. I put hundreds of hours into Stardew Valley and Minecraft was an indie back when I first played it. Wargroove is great too. Indies can be really cool.
But I just have no idea what to expect. And frankly a lot of indies blur together too. How many times have we seen "retro-inspired metroidvania"s and "retro-style platformers"?
Frankly, generally speaking, I don't want indie clones of retro games, I'd rather have the retro games that I have nostalgia for.
@KBuckley27
A weird thing to post in among loads of comments from fans who clearly are interested
@RPGamer @PickledKong64 Highly certain this @Tandvig is a troll, he has indie games in his games section. Either way, comments like "go back to Fortnite/Roblox" (super original by the way) doesn't make you any better.
@KBuckley27 "Hardly anyone cares about indie games," says this while commenting on an article about them and has indie games listed in their games sections. Oh, and you gave most of them low scores. You're someone and you clearly cared enough to do all this.
I realize some Indie games (Wargroove, Shovel Knight, Undertale, etc.) have earned a big following and are great games regardless of the publisher's size. But let's be honest: the truly deserving Indie titles on the eShop probably account for less than 1 percent. The eShop's menu is absolutely jammed with complete garbage that the Nintendo of yesteryear would wisely never have allowed on their platforms. Combined with the eShop's less than ideal menus, it's a huge detriment to the entire catalog because deserving titles...including some of those very Indies...get pushed "below the fold" and out of sight by all the crap flooding in week after week. I imagine that it's extremely difficult for any Indie company to break even let alone profit in a situation like that.
So yeah, I can't exactly say that I'm excited for another "Nindies" showcase. Every console by every manufacturer has had their fair share of stinkers over the decades, but Switch has taken "Quantity Over Quality" to a ridiculous level, and all to try vainly to cover up those months-long voids between first-party and major third-party releases.
Im hyped about weird stuff that probably won't get talked about here: Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Minecraft Dungeons, and Shovel Knight Dig immediately come to mind. Oh yeah, and Genshin Impact, that looks dope.
Ori and the will of the wisps announcement for switch (probably won't happen for at least a year) and a release date for Silksong. That's all i want
@Grumblevolcano I recently started DOOM 2016 again on ps4 and the lack of gyro aiming is so jarring now. The Switch version plays better by far. I don't understand why its not an option as standard on any platform,if the controllers can support it
@HeroOfCybertron baldo was finally talked about. Hope you watched the direct?
