Respawn Entertainment's battle royale Apex Legends made its debut on the Nintendo Switch last week and now a week later, the developer has rolled out a new update for all versions of the game.
For the Switch version, in particular, this addresses "several" Switch bugs, but does not go into detail about what exactly these fixes are. Plenty of other bugs have also apparently been ironed out. Here are the full patch notes, courtesy of the official Respawn Twitter account:
Apex Legends Version 1.07 (15th March, 2021):
New @playapex patch just went live:
- Fixed Heat Shield audio bug and a rare exploit
- Heat Shields removed from crafting pool
- Fixed some bugs with Loba's tactical
- Fixed issues with several event skins missing textures
- Several Switch fixes
Soldier on, Legends
Ooh, also: fixed the bugged sound on Bangalore’s heirloom!
Hopefully, in some future updates, port specialist Panic Button can also make an effort to address some of the performance issues. For more information about the Switch version, check out our full review.

Downloaded the update tonight, haven't played yet to notice anything. Ended up playing Apex tonight on my PC since I was on it this evening playing some games.
I like the Switch port overall, image quality, draw distance and controls are all pretty good. The only real downer is that it doesn't stick too well to 30fps, that should be the major point to fix
Next order: Fix horrible handheld Gyro aim??
@RasandeRose don’t think they could fix the FPS issue. That’s hardware limitations
@ARhollow
I think they can. Its not like theyre going from 30 to 60 fps, then it would be halted by the hardware. They can always gain a 5 fps or so here and there were it regular drops by optimizations.
@ARhollow Nah, that can be fixed with enough optimizations and profiling-tweaking for different situations. It's hard to know exactly where FPS drops may be before releasing a game like this, internal testing can only take you so far. But if I know Panic Button right, they will keep tweaking this until it works great.
@Imerion doubt that. If they could get this game to run 60 FPS they would’ve already done so before the game launched. This is why the game got such poor reviews. Switch players are in a big disadvantage over console/pc players because of that. The resolution is already low. 30 FPS is as good as it gets. It’s still impressive that they got the game on the switch in the first place.
Update released and I don't notice much of anything. Guess that means that to see a noted change I will need the Switch Pro I read about on this site... I also wonder if Apex on Switch will be like Cyberpunk on PS, give it 4 months or so and no one will be talking about it to the levels they are now as 1/2 the player base will move on.
No way I’m playing competitive shooter on switch. Other platforms has huge advantages.
Glad to see they'll work on the Switch version more and more. I really hated the days where devs would release half-done versions of games on Wii/Wii U and never updated them. At the very least, we can expect things to smooth out over time with Apex on Switch. It's not perfect, but I'm having fun with it.
I have yet to go back to this, but I am hoping that playing undocked is better than before. A little too early for those expectations, but I was so disoriented at launch.
@ARhollow
lol, you haven't noticed that developers these days fixes up their games after release by patching them? And I don't think anyone mentioned it going to 60fps, it was mentioned fixing the frame drops.
@RasandeRose my original reply was about the 30 FPS lock. I never mentioned the dips. Hardware limitations prevents this game from being 60 FPS. No amount of patches will fix that. Now fixing the dips at 30 FPS of course can be worked out by patches.
Really disappointed with how bad this looks.
To here are only two.things that really annoy me about apex on Switch. The voice chat doesn't work at all. Every word gets interrupted two or three times. It's broken!
And as for Cross Play, the switch crashes every few games 🤷🏻♂️ aside from that, it's pretty decent.
@ARhollow Ah, sorry, I wasn't clear. I don't believe they'll get it to 60 FPS either. That is not an option unless you rewrite the whole game for the Switch hardware. What I believe is that we'll get stable 30 FPS and perhaps less resolution drops. Which I personally feel is good enough, and good gyro aim easily compensates for 30 vs 60 FPS when playing online, advantage-wise. (Worked wonders in Fortnite!)
@ARhollow
Well, thats confusing cause your first reply in this thread was to my comment about frame drops
@JSG87
Thats games today.
It feels stupid today to even get games at release. Most times, I wait at least a couple of weeks so major glitches are fixed.
Good on them to continue the support. There's a interesting endless cycle on here. Many want virtually as many games on Switch as possible. Understandably since the Switch is dope and the more the merrier, right? However, when a game comes then the general attitude 'switches' to pissing and moaning about how inferior it is to its PS4/XboxOne/PC/PS5!!/XBSX!! counterparts.
I can't wait to see what happens to the Tony Hawk port. We wanted it so badly. Now its coming and people seem very happy about it. But when it finally gets here I'm sure it will be torn apart how it doesn't compare as well to all those systems mentioned above.
@Ganner
Well, some "Switch-owners" seems to have bought the system only to complain about it. We have now been informed for 4 years that the portable Switch is not as powerful as PS4. But lets complain about it for another 4 years with every third party game release...
@Galaxyman88 you can choose to only play vs switch players. They honestly did a great job on this port. I only use crossplay when playing with friends.
This game hyped me up, then let me down slowly.
A disappointment.
@Ganner I was playing Apex on PC last night because I was playing a couple of PC games last night. As someone who has been playing Apex for a year and a half on PC, I actually like the Switch port, it's nice to be able to play away from my PC.
I do keep cross-play on, and haven't had any trouble playing with other cross-play players.
@ARhollow "my original reply was about the 30 FPS lock."
The comment you replied to didn't mention anything about a 30 fps lock. All it says is: "(…) it doesn't stick too well to 30fps (…)"
fantastic game if you play on another console/platform and learn the ins/outs of the mechanics and gameplay - the switch port is a work in progress, I'm sure it'll be more playable as more patches come along, I've seen low end PC graphics cards run Apex much better as seasons went by, so I'm sure stability will come to the switch in due time - grateful they even bothered putting money and resources into bringing it to switch
Can’t stop playing this game. Love it!!!!
I've tried it for a couple of matches but uninstalled it because of "shaky" gyro aiming and awful voice chat. I have other means to play it and it doesn't look like I'll be travelling anywhere soon.
Graphics are not a problem for me, because I've played it with low graphics settings on my previous laptop - it looked exactly the same
Does the switch have an excuse like but you can play it portable, well yes because you can literally play games on the go. The real struggle for me with apex is that when you get in a gun fight it kind of struggles but it still holds up nicely from what I played just a few crashes here and there but it still works fine.
