Apex Legends arrives on Switch tomorrow, and we were lucky enough to sit down with the team behind the port recently.
One of the questions many fans have wanted answering related to cross-progression – an understandable request given that many people are already playing the game on other platforms, and want to continue that progress on Switch.
Sadly, although cross-play is supported, Switch owners already playing Apex Legends elsewhere will have to begin anew when it hits Nintendo's console tomorrow – unless they fancy a long wait.
When asked about cross-progression, Respawn's Chad Grenier told us:
It is planned, but I think we’re a ways out from being able to offer that. I really want it as a gamer myself, so I hear what our fans are saying and I totally agree with them. We’re doing work to try to make that happen, it’s a complex challenge of multiple accounts existing for various users that we have to resolve or merge, there are legal and contractual things to navigate with purchasing on other platforms and having those carryover and also some technical challenges. So it’s not something we can just turn on, but we are working towards having it and the team is passionate about delivering it at some point.

Alternatively: Thanks, Sony.
I'm actually happy to not connect this with my xbox live account. My son is way better than me at shooters and has gotten our level so high in the game I can't compete. Happy to start at level 1.
Sony is so stubborn about this.
Respawn, just do it for Xbox, and NS
Also why did they not detail the performance and resolution!!!!
Is it running at 30 FPS or 60 FPS
@JonnyD108 I think it runs 60 fps on ps4
https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/apex-legends-ps4-xbox-one-pc-framerate-resolution/
But it depends tho when framerate will drop
@JonnyD108 runs at 60 on PS4 it just didn't run smooth all the time. I havnt played in a while so no idea how it runs now with patches.
we can only find out tmrw about what the performance is
The lack of cross progression is the main reason why my friend, who adores this game, is not willing to play on Switch. It's not framerate or graphics, it's the cross progression issue.
I don't blame them. If I were already playing a game like this on another system, I wouldn't want to start over or go back and forth between two accounts.
@Kanbei your account level has nothing to do with your MMR.
it'll take your son's mmr, your mmr, and whatever mmr your third is - average it then use it to search.
@JonnyD108 its 60fps on base ps4, just not a stable one. PS4 pro had no issues. same for xbox one. OG has issues but X1X had none. also means PS5 and Xbox Series have zero framerate issues too.
Switch is 30fps only.
if switch is 30fps wouldnt you be at a disadvantage compared to the ps4 at 60. remember hearing about htat with fortnite due to more bullets in a second on ps4 but i could be wrong
@blindsquarel that was because in fortnite, the data the client sent was directly tied to the framerate. So the server was receiving less data from the switch client.
That won't apply to apex. Apex client is sending out the same amount of data at all times, its not tied to framerate.
Well whenever it does happen I will port my stuff from ps4 over, for now I will start over, I think I can use it like a test for other characters I want so I will have different characters on each account.
Cant wait to try it tomorrow.
I'll stick with the Xbox1 version then
