Next month sees the launch of Taiko No Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack on Switch, a collection of two never-released-in-the-west Taiko no Tatsujin RPGs. Celebrating the upcoming launch, Bandai Namco has shared two new trailers.
The videos give us an insight into the stories that players will enjoy when the two games arrive next month. You can check them both out below:
TAIKO NO TATSUJIN RHYTHM ADVENTURE 1 embarks the players in a space & time mystery adventure having them play as DON-chan in a quest to save history from enemies willing to destroy it. DON-chan will ally with Ticky and Tocky to go through various moments in time, meet historical figures from the past, and face your foes in up to 4vs4 rhythmic battles.
In TAIKO NO TATSUJIN RHYTHM ADVENTURE 2 players will join Tia and Popo Kaka, in a race to retrieve the stolen necklace of the Lion’s fang from the Sorcery Society Hexaglia, in evil organization who stole in order to erase history. In this second game, you can get into up to 8 vs 8 performance battles and create teams with multiple specialties in order to face the many challenges met along the way.
Both games feature more than 250 enemies and 130 songs, and you'll be able to play them with your old drum set from Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'n' Fun! if you managed to get your hands on one. The pack launches physically and digitally on 3rd December, and both titles will also be sold separately on the eShop.
Looking forward to this one? It's always nice to see Japan-only games finally make it over to the west, right?

Looking forward to breaking out my drum controller again and giving this a go once my physical copy arrives.
Does anyone have links for the physical edition? Can't find it.
@RazumikhinPG I'm pretty sure the physical release is only in Japan/Asia so you'd need to import a copy if you want it. Play-Asia are offering free shipping on orders until November 16th for whatever that's worth.
This is gonna be fun
@baller98 Nah. Definitely most fun with one but Taiko's still perfectly playable with buttons.
@BenAV thanks!
@VinniVinni The other Taiko game on Switch has motion controls so this probably will too I'd guess. I found them to be too finicky when I tried them out though.
I preordered and received a drum controller from Bandai USA. Now I'm tempted to buy this game and Drum n' Fun on physical cartridge - they'd be a gift for my kiddos this Xmas.
But can someone tell me if you import a physical Drum n' Fun from Play Asia, what region the game would be? If my girls want to add DLC songs later, I'm afraid we would have to download from that region's Eshop because the USA E-shop DLC would not be compatible cross-region.
@BenAV maybe you could advise??
I really don't want to buy the games digitally if I can avoid it.
Releasing Japan games in the West is fine, but please do so with physical releases for those of us who care!
@BenAV If I didn't a bunch of DLCs I bought combined with my EU physical copy, Asian physical would be a nice option.
Sadly the DLC region locked (of course) so I het this new one digitally.
@Teksetter Unfortunately, the DLC is indeed region-locked I believe so your choices are to either create a Nintendo account with the same region as the cartridge and buy eShop cards for that region to get the DLC or just settle for buying it digitally instead. Drum 'n' Fun is 70% off on the US eShop at the moment until the 19th so that'd be the much cheaper option if you were to buy it now.
@BenAV
Thank you for the confirmation, even if the news isn't what I hoped.
I saw Drum n' Fun listed at 70% off in the US Eshop sale, so definitely I was tempted! The problem is, I want to gift the games and the drum to my daughters this Christmas. I don't want to spoil the surprise by downloading Drum n' Fun to my older daughter's Switch now!
Maybe if I'm sneaky I can download it, then delete it off her system, then redownload it at Xmas...
I suppose I can just get the Adventure game physically to go under the tree with the drum...
Why is that Avril Lavigne song "Complicated" playing in my brain just now??
@baller98
It works perfectly with touchscreen. Even better input timing than with buttons.
Oh man I love the CUUUUUTEE look of this game! So excited! I want it in physical. Please can we have physical in the west. Please!
@Teksetter If you purchase it then delete it then it's very unlikely they find out. The only places that would give it away are Taiko's eShop page and the re-download software page on the eShop.
The only concern with that plan would be that getting the Adventure pack physically for Christmas could be cutting it a little close. A month is probably enough time usually but I have had orders from Play-Asia that have taken about that much time or longer.
Look at him go! Delightful.
Very excited to play these with the drum controller! I’ve got a ton of use playing playing out if the original and I’m so curious to see how these rpgs work!
Does the "western release" not include North America? I checked two retailers' websites; one didn't have it listed at all and the other is selling download codes. Searching on Amazon, European imports came up.
@BenAV
Haha great - thank you for the insight! You are now an accomplice in my Xmas scheme!
Per your advice I will order the Adventure Pack right away from Play Asia and hope for arrival in time to put under the tree.
If not, I think I will handmake a little card or maybe even a fake Taiko no Tatsujin cartridge case to go with the drum. Don-chan and Ka-chan look fairly easy to draw.
