Disney Art Academy may not have been a knockout announcement for those that follow the 3DS closely, but it has the potential to be a major success for the portable. Combining the solid line-up of Art Academy games with the brand power of Disney seems like a smart move that could pay off in a significant way.
The Japanese market will be key to this, as it's been a location for notable Disney / 3DS success in recent years. Ahead of the April release in the country Disney has now released an extended video showcase of the upcoming drawing game / app - you don't need to be fluent in Japanese to follow the walkthrough of features and tools that are shown off here. It's worth watching to the end, too, as it shows off Miiverse sharing, image exporting and some rather cool cover plates for the smaller New 3DS (pictured above). The middle one looks amazing.

In any case check out the video below and let us know whether Disney Art Academy is on your radar.

ok
it's not just on my radar, it's locked on and missile ready - missile with colored pencil tip. i got a 3ds and wii u for art academy. a bonus would be if you could tap infinity figures for things to draw.
I've found videos like these so much easier to follow since I learnt Japanese.
Oh no, wait...
But I will defo be getting this at some point. For me and the kids.
Getting this for me and my kids and definitely getting those cover plates. Huge Mickey Mouse fan and those look awesome.
@Jamotello : That's a fantastic idea, but considering that neither the developers of Disney Art Academy nor Nintendo have much (if anything) to gain from its implementation, it's no surprise that they didn't think to include it.
I'm not even a Disney fan, nor have I completed Pokémon Art Academy, but this looks so damn pretty that I might be tempted to get this.
I never have played an art academy game (closest thing may have been Mario Paint on the SNES) but I'm a big Disney fan so I may give this a go.
Awesome! Any Art Academy is on my radar so I'll keep my eye on this for sure!
Those middle cover plates are amazing! I think it's time I got a new 3DS!
I wish that comic strip plate fit the N3DSXL. Crazy that would only do that for the smaller version. Makes no sense.
That comic one is really good lookin'!
I totally agree, that middle New 3ds case looks amazing. I'm a big fan of vintage Mickey Mouse and that old style, so I hope that comes stateside. Cause I will get it.
you can preorder those cover plates on play-asia for $19.99 US. I order them all for myself. Although I have to pay more since I'm Canadian.
One of my most anticipated games of the year after the ND the other week- loved Pokemon Art Academy to pieces, by far my most played game on the system (400hrs +), so with this being more of the same & with a Disney theme, I'm really looking forward to this.
Liking those face plates too, especially the vintage one. Hopefully I can nab one of 'em.
Already got my pre-order in for the UK release in June but if I can, I'd happily import the NA copy in May too.
Video says it's not available in my country q.q
edit: I mean the video isn't available in my country, the game obviously will be.
Where...where is kingdom hearts at..
@RandomBlue Square Enix owns those characters, not Disney. And most Disney fans aren't familiar with Kingdom Hearts.
