Update: We've had some more details on the Switch port of Alien: Isolation, which is due for release thanks to publisher Feral Interactive. It has been confirmed that the Switch edition will boast "gyroscopic aiming and HD rumble to immerse players in its terrifying world wherever they play". We've also had a new trailer (shown above), but it's light on gameplay.
Original Story: Sega and Creative Assembly's classic survival horror title Alien: Isolation is Switch-bound, it has been revealed.
The game was confirmed during a quick-fire sizzle reel towards the end of today's E3 Nintendo Direct. While little in the way of fanfare has been made, this is a pretty sizeable release for Nintendo fans; originally launched in 2014 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC, the game remains a tense and superbly-structured take on the classic sci-fi horror movie series.
Unlike other video game takes on the Alien universe – which tend to focus on 1986's action-heavy Aliens when it comes to inspiration – Isolation borrows heavily from Ridley Scott's 1979 original, stripping the player of weaponry and placing greater emphasis on survival and stealth.

This was a nice surprise too. Got it on the cheap, but still haven’t played it. Excited Switch is getting it.
I mean....I guess?
I am. Played it on the PC back in the day but nevere had the chance to finish it. This time there will be no excuse.
Disney's Alien Isolation: Castle of Illusion
I have this game for the ps3 ( not ps4 like said in the article), but never played becouse I had other games at the time ( basically Xenoblade Chronicles ☓). I will play it on the Switch as soon as I can.
Cool combo with RE5 and RE6. One console for everything, the Switch
Had this on PC, it is absolutely brilliant, really tense. I think I may even “double dip” as they say.
I know this one has been out for a long time on other platforms, but this is so cool to play it portable. Switch is killing it with games.
Just pretend that you are Samus and the Alien is Ridley for those disappointed about no Metroid news. I jest of course...
Best game to use the Alien IP since Alien vs. Predator by Capcom for the arcades.
Good game. Play with headphones on a big TV - is what the last few movies should have been.
But got it for $8 on PS4 sale. Good enough
Is this the bad one? I’m serious I wasn’t old enough to watch aliens when it came out so I missed that cultural boat. So don’t have the games.
This is a great game. One of the tensest and most frightening I’ve ever played.
Best thing I can say is I genuinely struggled to play it!
@Ryu_Niiyama
bad one? are you kidding is the best alien game out there, the only one to transport the intense and feeling from the first film in a videogame , i really enjoed a lot on the ps3
I've been on the verge of buying this so many times, if handheld is decent then this might be the time. Christ knows what people will think of me when I squea on the bus!!l
Great addition. The Switch is replacing my gamecube as the ultimate horror console. Add the creepy gamecube boot up sound and Eternal Darkness and I'm done.
@Ryu_Niiyama The game is more akin to the first Ridley Scott Alien movie. If you haven’t seen that then you have a new old film to put on your watch list. An absolute classic of suspense.
@Ryu_Niiyama I thought it was the bad one at first too. Too bad we live in a time where people have to ridicule you rather than simply correct you. 😝
So, what I'm reading here is Labo VR support would put the over the top?
@aresius Calm down sparky. That is why I both asked a question and gave context to the reason for my question that it seems like you didn’t bother to read before smashing your keyboard.
"Tripple A Man" - This will be one for me, however I will wait for more details, some gameplay footage and preview/review before I pre order.
@rjejr I gave up on humanity’s ability to communicate with empathy and manners long ago. No one know how to speak without a knee jerk reaction and for that matter what about a game requires such a tone to be the first response. All I know is some aliens game caused the internet to flame on in rage a few years back and I wasn’t sure if this was it. Wanted to know if this reveal was good news or bad since I have no context. I’ve lost interest at this point now though.
Edit: looks like civility won the day after all.
@Ryu_Niiyama
Sorry if my previous comment looked mean, It was not intended to be like that, I was just too excited about the direct
@Ryu_Niiyama the bad game you are thinking was alien colonial marines an fps game and yes it was a scandal, this one instead it a rare pearl a survival al horror with a single invulnerable alien with not scripted adative IA and a great story and gameplay
@aresius ok, that is fair and I accept your olive branch. I get it. I’m still screaming over Zelda. I’m assuming this aliens game is a good one so I shall watch some videos of it and put it on my list.
Haven't play an Alien game since the Super NES so this would be a treat to me to get back into the franchise.
@Ryu_Niiyama
What do you mean by ‘bad one’? If you mean game, no, that was Aliens Colonial Marines which got cancelled. Though Alien Trilogy on PS1 and Saturn was pretty ropy too.
If you mean film, well, they’re all bad apart from the first two which are brilliant. This is based on the first one, and it’s great.
Rather have a sequel or a psvr add-on.
Glad It’s come around to Switch, it’s been sitting in my Steam list for ages, will definitely be getting this!
Literally can not wait for this. Will likely have the DLC included as well so worth the double dip!
And this is another port I will buy.
My PC couldn't run this one (same as with Witcher 3), so I am really excited for all those previous gen ports coming to the Switch. May even take a chance with those hated RE 5&6.
Were Colonial Marines failed Isolation succeeded.
Another old ass game
A most unexpected title! Had this on PS3, deffinately the most unnerving and stressful game I ever played, could not finish it. It has the most amazing AI for the Xeno, worth reading about elsewhere.
For their next trick... Make it Labo VR compatible!
@Ryu_Niiyama I finally had a chance to look it up, Aliens: Colonial Marines is the one. Close enough if you ask me.
I've played this game 3 times, once on PC and twice on PS4. It's absolutely worth it.
I love this game. It was the first game I got for PS4 and I have it on PC as well.
I have this on PS4 and it's honestly one of the best games I've ever played. PLAY WITH HEADPHONES. IN THE DARK.
... And prepare to scream like a little girl.
I recently played this on my PS4. It’s great, the first game in nearly two decades to make me feel tense, and that was without headphones! I felt it dragged on a bit too much at the end, but that’s probably because I have limited play time these days with two young daughters so I need my gaming enjoyment to be as efficient as possible. I could imagine playing this in handheld mode in bed with headphones would be a great way to experience this.
@electrolite77 Hey, for its time and platform(s) Alien Trilogy was pretty good! It may be dated now, but it was decent in its day and nothing close to the disaster that is Aliens: Colonial Marines.
I am a wimp. I don't play horror games. But for this, I will make an exception. Love the (first) couple of films. (I even go against the grain and think Prometheus was great)
It's a great horror game and the HD rumble should work great, not sure it'll benefit too much from gyro aiming as it's not really that type of game. A nice little surprise for Switch
Would of rather of had a re-make of Alien v Predator. So much fun being the Predator.
@GrailUK I agree Prometheus wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.
@Ryu_Niiyama No, this is a 10/10 game and considered by many to be the best game movie adaptation ever. You are thinking of Aliens:Colonial Marines
@rjejr nobody ridiculed them lol, just acted slightly surprised by the question which is fair
Wait a minute, Feral stopped porting of GRiD instead of making port of Alien ?!?
Some day ago i was thinking about this game how awesome this would be on Switch, my first game on ps4, it gave me a lot of stress but i was proud finishing it, and its my top 3 best game. And then the news yesterday, I was so exited
This game can be had on the other consoles for around $10-14 (like when I got it for PS4 years ago), so I'm expecting this to be a hard sell at $59.99 like I'm sure it will be on Switch.
Never played it before, so Switch version it is for me
It's a shame this is Eshop only and not physical, but ah well!
That's how you port. Take notes Capcom
TAKE MY SANITY (and money) all of it
@rjejr thank you! I knew one of them caused gnashing of teeth.
I have on Steam, due to the vr implementation, still haven't played it yet because it was more or less unplayable in VR.
Thanks to modders it's almost there, so I'm waiting for that and not double dipping on a game I've owned for 4(?) years but not played due to the dev releasing it unplayable and haven't bothered to fix it.. Thanks SEGA
One of the first games to actually make me jump lol my body is Reggie for this in handheld, at night, lights off with a good set of headphones. They should market this as the "prepare to throw" edition. Gonna be lots of $400 frisbies after this is released haha
Just noticed that my phone corrected " my body is ready" to " my body is Reggie" ROFL, I think I've used that term one too many times
@Wavey84 for me it's the audio quality that absolutely must be untouched. Sound is EVERYTHING with this game.
i was on the fence about this but gyro controls might just tip the scale. can't believe this game's incorporating gryo but RE4 did not.
One of the best survival-horror games ever made!
If I remember rightly this was cross platform. There was a full fat version on PS4/Xbox One/PC where the Alien had the fancy dynamic artificial intelligence.
And then there was a PS3/Xbox 360 version where it didn't.
Which one is this based off?
Oh hell yes. I have been wanting to play this one for so long, but never thought it would come to Nintendo Switch. This makes me happier than an alien in a human's belly.
Love the article title.
"Game coming to system that supports that system's features."
Thanks for taking the time to support the features for the platform upon which your game is releasing......i guess?
Gyro aiming and HD Rumble? Day one buy.
@Edu23XWiiU I'm with you on that one!!
If you haven't played this and like horror games, buy this game day 1. This is the best horror game since the glory days of Silent Hill.
Was excited when I thought it was a FPS. Not into stealth survival horror.
Will you have to hold it still to not be detected by the alien?
I am very interested in this I hope it turns out as a good Port I have never played it before sounds right up my alley.
@Ryu_Niiyama You're welcome.
@PorllM "nobody ridiculed them lol"
I don't know, maybe you're right, but I read this to start post #14 and I read it as ridicule. Could just be me though, always looking for the worst in people.
"bad one? are you kidding"
@Ryu_Niiyama no, this is the good one! A really good game after an excellent movie.
Didn't this originally get poor reviews?
Edit: It received a 6/10 on gamespot. That is not something to get excited over. Strong pass.
@RevrsblSedgewick
i noticed just now your question, i had the ps3 version and for what i recall, the IA was the same: not scripted and adaptive to what you do, but with difference between the different difficulty level maybe you saw a play with easy mode o normal mode, there are huge difference at hard and nightmare), the only difference between old and new gen was the resolution and better light/dark effect (but still good on the ps3/xbox too i remember i was impressed at the time with the graphic on the ps3) .Beside i read just now on the internet the game was started to be developed on the old gen(ps3/xbox360) and than just ported on the new gen(ps4/xbox one), so i will not be worried about the port, switch is superior to the old gen they will improve a little bit the resolution and not cut to the IA for sure.
