Re: Video: Explore Dragon Quest XI S With The Series' Creator And Download A Demo Now

@Judal27 Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that an improvement will be visible by using a modern TV. I can only speak from my own experiences, that the Switch looks much more pixelated on older devices, as on new. I am an absolute technology newbie. I was told by a professional, that new devices use hardware upscaling for lower resolutions. Somebody with more tech-affinity can certainly explain that better.

@Judal27 May I ask if you play on a monitor or TV? I’ve also experienced a very pixelated look while the camera was zoomed out (especially the heroe’s face, couldn’t recognize it anymore) while having the Switch hooked on my 22” Iiyama monitor, only supporting 1080p without any kind of hardware upscaling. On my Panasonic 40” 4K (with hardware upscaling) the game looks way better. Blurry, still, yes, but the pixelation is reduced.

Looks and plays great on Switch. But having invested more than 150 hours in the PS4 original, I’m not sure if I should double dip - also, since I mostly play my Switch at home/docked.

Why even arguing over different taste? To each their own. Even though I don’t play a lot in portable mode, it’s nice that people get the opportunity to play that great game on the go. More options = always better.

Re: The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt Gets An October Release Date On Switch

Lando_

I agree. I also love my PS4, but this year felt empty. There have been releases of some interesting niche JRPGs lately, but due to Sony’s weird new censorship policies, I don’t want to support them. I’m only hyped for that Granblue Fantasy RPG from Platinum Games. Still hoping for a Switch port though.

Re: The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt Gets An October Release Date On Switch

Lando_

Yes, it doesn’t look as good as on PS4 and One, obviously, but nevertheless: I’m impressed and will definitely get it on Switch if the framerate will be solid too. I also own the game on PS4 Pro, but couldn’t finish it. It may sound weird, but I find trophies/achievements to be extremely distracting. I’ve spent lots of hours into hunting down subquests instead of enjoying the main story, just because of the trophies. That won’t happen on Switch.

Re: Nihon Falcom Lacks The Ability To Release More Games On Switch, Says President

I also think that it is a poor excuse, to say, that their fanbase is on PlayStation. Anime games in general seem to be for a niche audience on PlayStation. On Switch, they seem to be more popular, comparing sales of games like Dragon Quest Builders 2 or Bloodstained, for instance. Oh, and especially regarding Sony's new anime censorship thing, there will surely be more PlayStation anime fans moving over to Switch.

Re: Demo Kill la Kill: IF Or Buy The Full Game Later This Month

I've played the Demo on PS4 today and by the simplistic look of the game, I'm not too worried about issues (framedrops) on Switch. The 60 fps run smoothly on PS4 but a stable 30 will be okay too, I guess. Maybe the loading times and resolution may get a hit on Switch, resulting in a overall slightly more 'jaggyish' visual quality. Regarding the simple artstyle though I'm also not too worried about that.

I'm more surprised about seeing so much fanservice on Sony's console. Panty shots, sexy outfits, breasts bouncing... I should be happy since I prefer my waifus uncensored , but I'm also a little bit p*ssed about Sony's inconsistency on that whole censorship policies topic. It's hard to trust them anymore cause there is no guideline if or what they are going to censor in a game or not. Don't know if I'm going to get the PS4 or Switch version, to be honest. On Switch, I could rest assured that nothing is censored though...

Re: Demo Kill la Kill: IF Or Buy The Full Game Later This Month

Lando_

@Ralizah Yes, Dragon Quest Builders 1 runs perfectly fine on Switch, I agree. But I've played the Demo of Dragon Quest Builders 2 on PS4 and Switch, and I've been extremely disappointed regarding the Switch's performance in comparison. It struggles to maintain 30 fps while the first Dragon Quest Builders runs at 60. Yes, the resolution of the second one is sharper (might be 1080p), but I'd have preferred a lower resolution for smoother gameplay again.

Re: Demo Kill la Kill: IF Or Buy The Full Game Later This Month

Lando_

@Ralizah Nah, I'm happy with the graphics/performance my Xbox One X can deliver. I also own a PS4 Pro for the exclusives.

I'd also be happy if a Switch game/port could reach a steady 30 fps, but it's not the case with Dragon Quest Builders 2 and Bloodstained; sadly. I've also had lots of bad framedrops playing games like Ys 8, Gal Gun 2, Fate/Extella Link and Nights of Azure. Otherwise I'd give portability more often a go than graphics.

I really hope, the rumors of a "Switch Mini" with improved specs are true.

Re: Demo Kill la Kill: IF Or Buy The Full Game Later This Month

Lando_

@Zyph I had the same thought. Has some Bloodstained vibes.

@Sabroni Yes, they would. Also did Square Enix with Dragon Quest Builders 2. Compared to the PS4 demo it plays like crap on Switch.

I hope, Nintendo will come up with a more powerful unit soon. Personally I chose graphics/performance over portability every day.

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored English Language Release On Switch

Lando_

I understand why Sony has censored this game. But I still am against any kind of censorship. It brings people to outrage, that's all. Also, there are so many rating systems like ESRB and USK these days, that developers can leave them the evaluation work.

The game isn't my "cup of tea" though. I love anime style games like Persona 5, Trails and Tales of, Fire Emblem, but when fanservice reaches a level that I cannot play without being ashamed of myself... No, thank you.

Re: New Trailer For Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries Of Fujisawa Reveals The Key Cast

Lando_

@YozenFroghurt Yes, exactly. I didn’t even know, there are discounted Vita games in the PS Store. Gonna take a look later, thanks for the info.

On the other hand: Every console has its flaws. Nintendo also isn’t without its cons; like bad online service, hiding game save backups behind a paywall, Nintendo exclusive games seldom get a discount, hardware is really expensive (a loose dock for 79-89 Euros is a bit harsh), poor eShop quality control (lots of shovelware), console feels cheap (I take care of my hardware, but my Switch already has scratches), poor battery life, and a lot of lazy ported third party games like the mentioned Nights of Azure 2, Attack on Titan, Atelier Lydie & Suelle, My Time at Portia, Ys 8, and many more. At the end, it all comes down to personal preferences.

Re: New Trailer For Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries Of Fujisawa Reveals The Key Cast

Lando_

Yes, that’s right. There has always been censorship in games, but not in a quantity we are experiencing today with Sony going crazy about it. The only three big cases I can remember when censorship of erotic content kicked in were: Bravely Default (some sexy costumes were made more kids friendly), Fire Emblem and Tokyo Mirage Session. All from Nintendo. I also called them out in the past for making those dumb decisions. As for now, the same goes for Sony. While Nintendo is changing for the better, Sony gets worse. Don’t get me wrong, I love PlayStation, but I simply can’t keep my eyes closed when there are bad things going on like: Failing to support the Vita, only 2 games per month for PS Plus members instead of 4, a ridiculously bad PlayStation Mini, censorship, forcing Japanese developers to communicate in English... Considering all those things, not only the censorship topic, it’s hard to support a company.

Re: New Trailer For Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries Of Fujisawa Reveals The Key Cast

Lando_

@Morrow I agree with everything you wrote. It’s a bad time to be a PlayStation fan, especially if you prefer Anime based games.

@YozenFroghurt I don’t want to „bash“ Sony, mate. I even preferred playing games on my PS4 Pro than on Switch for better performance and loading times. There were lots of bad ports on Nintendo’s console, so the PS4 was the best way to play for me. Nights of Azure 2 and Attack on Titan 2, for instance, run extremely bad on Switch - especially in handheld mode. Hell, even the effin’ Vita has better performance in those games! Sony’s new attitude towards censorship gives me no other choice but to accept worse performance for an uncensored experience. I simply don’t want to support them if they keep on censoring things.

Re: New Trailer For Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries Of Fujisawa Reveals The Key Cast

@Custom1991

It is still a confusing topic, because Sony hasn’t set up guidelines or any kind of rules, regarding what they are censoring in a game or not.

It started with Senran Kagura ReNewal; here they removed the „intimacy mode“ because of the possibility to sexually harass and touch underage looking characters like Mirai. Censoring modes like this was absolutely understandable in my opinion. But then they applied censorship on Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet and even Devil May Cry 5 was modified only on PS4. It wasn’t about avoiding erotic thoughts on underaged characters anymore, because there are only adults showing skin in the games mentioned above.

Sony explained, that they want to „protect the children“ with their new censorship guidelines. Lots of gaming YouTubers and journalists had to laugh because of that terrible explanation. Why are they censoring boobs and not fatalities in Mortal Kombat XI if they are „thinking about the children“?

Regarding Sony’s confusing attitude against fanservicy games or virtual nudity in general, I became very cautious when choosing which console version to play. If you type in „Sony Censorship“ in Google and chose „News“, you’ll find a lot of specific articles about Sony’s new policy activities.

Re: New Trailer For Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries Of Fujisawa Reveals The Key Cast

@Custom1991 I’m not only making fun of censored visual novels on PS4, I’m mocking Sony’s new censorship policy in general. I prefer playing games on my PS4 Pro, when they release on multiple platforms, because of better visuals, performance or loading times - since I don’t use my Switch in portable mode often. But: I’d always prefer a downgraded version of a game that is uncensored than the technically superior one with Sony’s SJW poop intact. What they’re doing with their censorship spree is just ridiculous.
