Re: Pre-Orders Now Open For These Officially Licensed Wireless GameCube Controllers For Switch

Kwehst

I just don’t know if I can do it another generation. The pro controller feels good in my hand, and I have an 8bitdo snes controller that just feels “right”. Why can’t I learn to just fight with those controllers, not keep cherishing the GameCube controller like it is the only option?

Pleeeease let me break the cycle this time around and play with the pro controller, I beg of you smash gods!!!!

Re: Sony Will Step Away From The Handheld Games Business In 2019, Leaving It All To Nintendo

Kwehst

I got both my PSP and Vita day one. They held so much potential in my eyes... “oh the PSP is like a ps1.5!” Oh good! Maybe I can relive the glory of the ps1 era again yay! Sadly it just became my ps1 emulator machine....

Vita was going to be my ps2.5! No, was basically the bearer for my final fantasy 1-9/dissidia museum. If only it had proper R2 and L2 buttons I would’ve even used it for remote play. Alas

Oh well. I will still miss Sony’s attempts at the handheld market, but Nintendo will always be king on that front.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Direct To Be Rescheduled For Thursday 13th September

Kwehst

@Balta666
Yes I know, but I wanted the analogy to work. Which is why I didn’t use typhoon as well. It was very understandable why they postponed the Direct because of the earthquake. Very sad and devastating.

I will watch the Direct no matter how bad the hurricane gets, even if it’s on my phone through data.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Will Have Extra Requirements To Take On Gyms

Kwehst

You guys keep on hating this game. I’m looking at it as more of a nostalgic jaunt.

This game poetically does 2 important things for the future of this franchise. It brings in the Pokémon Go crowd to the core franchise, and it gives the veteran player base a reminder of what makes us love Pokémon to begin with.

I have faith that the let’s go games will only make the main game coming out next year even better. Get the handholding out of the way now, and blow us away with gen 8.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Is Unveiled For Switch, Every Previous Character Returns

Kwehst

No, I don’t see the pessimism surrounding Smash. I can get people being upset over lack of other games in the Direct, but even still, they will have more focused Directs throughout the year.

What pleases me about this iteration is the culmination of the entire roster that has been building since I begged my dad to buy me the n64 version decades ago. Playing Brawl, I felt a little disappointed that I couldn’t play Pichu or young Link. Playing Wii U, I was stripped of my beloved ice climbers and Pokémon trainer. That lingering disappointment had muddled my enthusiasm for each new installment, UNTIL NOW.

FINALLY, I can have literally ALL my favorites duke it out in one single game. Pure bliss for me.

Oh, and the Smash team made my wife super happy to be able to play as Daisy. Well done.

Re: White House Meeting With Industry Execs Focuses On Violence In Video Games

Kwehst

A kid has one heck of a time going into a store and buying cigarettes/alcohol. You need ID proving you are 18/21 plus. If we put that much emphasis on enforcing the ratings of games to make sure kids don’t play violent games, then that would solve this silly finger pointing at the video game industry.

And also, parents should be held accountable if their kids are in possession of mature games. If we are REALLY going to get serious about this mess, treat the ratings like cigarettes and alcohol.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Confirms He's Working On Super Smash Bros. Switch

Kwehst

I won’t even care if it’s just an updated port of the Wii U version, as long as one of the updates are to be able to turn off stage hazards. So many beautiful levels that I don’t play because none of my friends and family want nabbit to be an excuse why someone lost.

Or better yet, bring Corneria back.

Re: Breath of the Wild Developers Discuss the Zelda Timeline

Kwehst

@MikeWill I think the consensus is that since the Kokiri were able to transform into koroks for Wind Waker, it’s not impossible for them to do the same for botw, especially since there is at least 10,000 years difference between it and any other potential game.

In the end though, I highly doubt Nintendo cared about timeline placement. There are just too many nods to all of the timelines. Trying to pinpoint where botw goes within it is truly futile.

Re: Random: Cleaner At German Video Game Age Ratings Firm Almost Mistook Nintendo Labo For Trash

Kwehst

@Rubbercookie I get your point about amiibo being like dlc; however, normally if I want dlc I go to the online shop and purchase the dlc. With amiibo I have to (or mainly HAD to when it was all the craze) go scavenge around, competing with other collector-crazed individuals and be disappointed that I could’nt find one, or be tempted to purchase them for way more than they are worth from scalpers. To me, Nintendo took dlc and made it a hassle to obtain. That’s fine and all if they would just give me an option to purchase dlc without them, or put an in-game way to obtain the items (which I know some games do).

My point is that with this whole cardboard thing, I’m not forced to get this stuff and can still enjoy my love for Nintendo. Which to me is an amazing step forward.

Re: Random: Cleaner At German Video Game Age Ratings Firm Almost Mistook Nintendo Labo For Trash

Kwehst

This cardboard thing gives me terrible memories of Nintendo’s penchant for wacky ideas that are so far fetched (Dux ftw) and gimmicky that I get worried that this idea could be forced into the games I do care about.

Then I remember that this is just another outlet for them to let consumers have fun with. I’m not forced to participate like with the Wiimote, or be locked out of added fun because of my lack of amiibos. I couldn’t be happier that this isn’t forced on me. Bravo Nintendo! Carry on

Re: Soapbox: Is Super Mario Odyssey the Best Mario Game Ever?

Kwehst

Super Mario Bros 3 is by far the best Mario game (TO ME). It’s so complete. It’s one of the only games that I will beat 100%, see the “the end” screen and immediately play again.

Next would be Mario 64, because it pushed the limits of what consoles could do at that time. Oh, and nostalgia fogs my view. Odyssey is much much much better than Mario 64, but AT THE TIME when Mario 64 came out, with the crazy cool 3 pronged controller and seeing that spinning 3D “N”, I honestly can’t see how any Mario game from that point on can compare for me. It’s truly not fair at all. I still get giddy thinking about the first time I turned my N64 on...

Mario Osyssey is a wonderful love letter to the entire series as a whole, but it didn’t have a core focus. I still love it but to me it’s not 10/10. It’s maybe 9.5/10.

Oh. Also, Super Mario World is amazing too, it just always felt incomplete to me. Maybe it just felt too short, perhaps?

Mario Galaxy gamewise is good, but the wiimote ruins the whole thing for me. Can’t get into them sadly.

Re: Nintendo's Damon Baker Hints At An Even Bigger Year For Switch in 2018

Kwehst

New or ported Smash Bros (collection of all previous in one???), Super Mario Maker with waaaay more extras, and Skyward Sword hd because my tv makes the Wii version look like a muddy mess. Oh, and reveal more about the Pokémon Switch game! Oh? This is an article about 3rd party? Eh, all that too then.

Do all this and I will be just as impressed.

Re: 8Bitdo Firmware Update Fixes Controller Power Issues

Kwehst

My all time FAVORITE controller. I use it to play botw mostly so far, but I’ve been playing steam games on my pc and just LOVE IT. I literally carry it back and forth to use it for everything that I possibly can.

My only complaint, which sounds like it might’ve perhaps been fixed, is the vibration. I tried it on spla2n, but swimming in ink made the controller sound like it was going to start losing some screws.

8Bitdo rules!!!

Re: Breath of the Wild Developers Discuss the Zelda Timeline

Kwehst

@AlternateButtons
The “wild assumptions” line I used was meant to be my obviously poor attempt at some humor. I never mean offense when I post. The Zelda team can come out and say that botw is actually set in the mushroom kingdom for all I care. As long as the game is great (which it is), I won’t care in the end. So again, I apologize for coming off as the know-it-all for Zelda timeline placements.

Re: Breath of the Wild Developers Discuss the Zelda Timeline

Kwehst

@AlternateButtons
First off, the whole vibe screams nes Zelda to me, which in my very own opinion makes me feel like the downfall timeline is the one the developers intended it to be placed.

I’ve been reading a timeline placement theory page since botw came out, and in the hundreds of pages I have read from people trying to find the correct timeline, the game unfortunately reeks of all three.

Yes, the child timeline’s biggest connection is the Zelda speech referencing twilight. But nobody can explain the Zora tablets and how Ruto was mentioned as a sage even though she wouldn’t have been one in the child timeline.

I’m sorry my original post shot down the child timeline with poorly chosen words. To ME, the downfall timeline makes the most sense.

Re: Poll: Surprise! A New Zelda Is In Development, But What Do You Want From It?

Kwehst

Don’t make weapons break (or at least have them last longer or let me repair them).

Have themed DUNGEONS, regardless of item lock. Just friggin dungeons, man.

Some sort of hookshot/grapple. I need to feel like batman.

An extra armor slot for gloves. Make gloves that make it easier to climb in the rain.

Nintendo, do all that and you will get my money. Ah, who the heck am I kidding? You’ll get my money regardless...

Re: Video: See How Well DOOM Holds Up on Switch Compared to Xbox One

Kwehst

I always cringed when 3rd party support the likes of COD came to the wii. It was ALWAYS a hot mess compared to the competition.

But THIS...Wow! This is a superb version! And it’s PORTABLE! I’m very proud to own a Switch, so much so that if I were to buy Doom, it would be for it, not for my ps4/pc.

Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Mario Game?

Kwehst

I can never easily choose between smb3 and world for 2d. Smb3 usually gets my vote because it feels like a complete game, where in world I get the feeling it wasn’t completely hashed out.

Now with 3d, 64 EASILY gets my vote. When I think of my most cherished gaming nostalgic memories, the feels usually go in the order of pokemon red, Mario 64, then final fantasy vii. These 3 games defined me as a gamer.
