This game is STILL on my books as a titan Switch seller. I stopped playing the original SMM roughly the same time the Switch came out, and I stored my Wii U in a box. I watch Twitch streamers play SMM almost all the time though, so I still participate in the game in essence.

This game will actually kill the Wii U for the most part. I ironically have just purchased Paper Mario Color Splash and have started playing the Wii U again! It will likely be my last Wii U experience for a long time (somewhat sadly).

Super Mario Maker 2 has a great chance of at least making it to number 4. I personally hope it clenches number 1, but I understand it’s not for everybody. One can dream.

This reminds me of getting the option to play instruments in Final Fantasy XIV. Before you actually get the ability, you have to agree to terms that basically say you can only play Final Fantasy music. I think the community has decided that it’s okay to play what ever you want, as long as you don’t record it and post it on social media.

There definitely will be rules about this in the next decade. Things like Super Mario World hacks...the creators aren’t selling the games, but the streamers who play them get donations and subs from people BECAUSE they are playing them. I’m curious (and nervous) about how the law will deal with things like this.

@Antraxx777 that’s a very good point. I’d be very surprised with all that was shown during the reveal if we don’t have the capability to make levels more vertical.

I hope we get more space to create. I want to create a vertical level so bad. I had to use pipes to simulate going higher and higher, but it still takes the element out of what I was trying to accomplish.

Even if it means shortening the grid to make the vertical ability happen, I’m okay with it.

It’s less about the difficulty for me. What’s most important is the music. Yoshi’s Island has the most AMAZING soundtrack. Decades later, I STILL hum the tunes...and I haven’t even played it in years!!!!!

It’s exactly why I love final fantasy games...the music creates the immersion for me.

FFXIV. That will be my answer until SMM2 comes out in June...... I can barely hold the geeky joy in. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Don’t doubt the authenticity of Google’s endeavor. It’s not all doom and gloom. These companies put RISK out there for us consumers to buy into. Curved monitors, 3Dtvs, foldable screens....why hate on these ideas? Let them come out, see if it is worth an investment, and let your money do the talking.

I for one am all for this concept to take hold. I currently have a 10mbps download and .5mbps upload. This will be crap for me. But you know what? 10 years ago my phone couldn’t even easily connect to the internet. 10 years before that I was signing onto AOL 6.0 and fighting my sister for the phone line. In another 10 years, our infrastructure could be much better. Don’t wish for this concept to fail....that benefits nobody.

I was going to skip buying NSMBU Deluxe since I have the Wii U version, but $40 is pretty enticing....hmmmmmm.............

@wiggleronacid The best part about Final Fantasy is that it doesn’t matter where you start. I do highly recommend VII, just don’t let the outdated graphics bum you out. It’s an amazing game. I also highly recommend IX (my favorite).

If you wanted snes style Final Fantasy, most people would say VI is the best (even of the whole series), but you can’t go wrong with IV either.

I started with squirtle and will ALWAYS choose water first, for better or worse. I just really want a great secondary type. Water/normal let’s do it! 😂

Oh, and I’d love to be able to turn off gens in my 100 mans. Sometimes I just feel like playing smb3 and world. Being able to turn off the others would make my skipping a whole lot less tiresome.

An overworld! Even if it’s the generic overworld themes from their respective games! I’d like to build some levels and submit them as a whole.

@EvrgrnCmln That does make sense. My expectations were set too high. The longer I let the thought of the new games stir, the more I’m interested in them. There’s still time for them to show us really cool features that will probably tip me in the hype direction. It’s still at its base a new gen Pokémon game I can play on my tv. That’s pretty darn cool.

I was a little disappointed. I was expecting an overhaul, but it seems more of the same but with better graphics. When the battle scene was shown, I was hoping to see a really true revamp...I don’t know. It didn’t look bad, it’s just that random encounters with (more than likely) your Pokémon knowing 4 moves and will have to forget one each time it learns another. I just want more depth.

Maybe I’m just being early with my criticism. Maybe with more info I will be blown away. As I stands right now though, Super Mario Maker 2 is shaping up to be my 2019 GOTY.

Anthem is selling well because you get to basically be Iron Man. I played the buggy beta and it was still very very fun.

Will that fun correlate to being able to play it for a long time? Is it worth $60? I can’t answer those questions right now, but the one thing I can say is....starts eating a Whopper I am Iron Man. 😎

Super Mario Maker 2 was the absolute winner in that Direct. Link’s Awakening was a great surprise, but I’ve been craving a new Maker really bad...and they crammed so much into this one, so it wins by a LARGE margin.

Also, can’t complain about final fantasy vii and ix. RPG goodness!!!

I still think it was wrong for Cloud to be chosen as the FF representation. He’s the first FF character to NOT appear on a Nintendo console.

I love that he is in it and ffvii is probably my second favorite (love ix too much), but it really should’ve either been Cecil or Terra.

I was going to start playing prime trilogy on my Wii U with the horrid Wiimote. I couldn’t get the sensor bar far enough to let me play easily. Put it on Switch and I will buy it day one. I’ve put off those games for way too long.

You want to blame something then blame the 3DS, not Charizard’s immaturity lol.

If they couldn’t put Ice Climbers in because of technical limitations, then switching between 3 characters with a Pokemon trainer hanging out in the background might have been too much for poor little 3DS. I’m glad there was a way for people to play smash 4 in handheld, but man did it affect the Wii U version.....

That flickering on the right side in Mario 3 was absolutely in the original NES game. Every copy I’ve ever played had that glitch line.

You might be remembering the super Mario all stars version on the snes.

Haters can hate all they want. I don’t play this game for hours at a time. I play it mainly after my long day is ending and I’m getting ready to fall asleep.

In this blissful moment between adult life and dreamland, I get to relive a childhood of playing Pokémon red/yellow, pure and simple. Nostalgia at its finest.

It’s ridiculous that we as a society are okay with shooters, blood and gore, war, violence in any form. But when you see sexualized content THAT is where we draw the line.
