Re: Poll: Exceptional Graphics or 60fps, Which is More Important for the NX Generation?

Kokusho

I want a clean image, with fluid movement.
1080p, 60fps, decent AA / filtering.

I don't care how technically demanding the game is, that's not what make game beautifull.

However image quality and framerate are very important.
Zelda Botw looks wonderfull, but at 20-30 fps, 720p and no AA I won't be able to appreciate to its fullest because thoses are technical issues caused by weak hardware that ruins an otherwise incredible artistic work.

Plus flickering and stuttery frame rate hurts your eyes and give headache

Re: Nintendo NX Has A Core Idea Which Doesn't Just "Follow Advancements In Technology", Claims Miyamoto

Kokusho

@SPG PS4 neo won't be that powerfull, it wouldn't be very hard for Nintendo to build a hardware that sits close to it in specs while keeping a fairly low price.
Reports are saying PS4 neo should have specs in line with AMD RX 480, which is a 200$ part (for general consumer) Do the math.

What people don't realise is how much tech as evolved thoses last years. Things are a lot faster, efficient and cheaper.

PS4 and Xbox One were already outdated when they released and they're really not that good by today's standards. And the Wii U... well... it's the stone age!

If you find the Wii U to be capable, then the NX will blow your mind, whatever it is.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Did A Solid Job at E3 2016, But That Didn't Ease Long-Term Concerns

Kokusho

We're clearly not seeing the whole picture yet.
There must be some pretty tight lips in the industry about the NX right now.
Nintendo developpement team are focused on the NX for a while now. That's why we're seeing no big game from them.

What are the trully big games of the Wii U from Nintendo ?

Pikmin 3
Super Mario 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Super Smash Bros 4 ( namco )
Zelda.

That's pretty much it, right ? They gave up on the Wii U when they realised thoses system sellers couldn't make it a succes.

All developpement switched to NX (Zelda BotW is allowed to be a huge game BECAUSE it will be released on NX, if not it would have gotten a much smaller budget).

I say wait and see. When Nintendo will be ready to show us what they've been working on for the past 2-3 years, we'll be able to judge.

Re: Poll: Did Nintendo Triumph With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at E3?

Kokusho

This new Zelda is a triumph.
We were all nervously waiting for the game, Nintendo doing a modern take on its most sacred franchise, going all out, on a subpart hardware. Previous titles were hit and misses, Skyward sword, while great (imo) was lacking on many front and felt very old school.

Could they do it ?

Well, it seems like they can ! The game feels brand new, fresh, full of new fun ideas. A real modern game from Nintendo, no hand holding, minimal clutters, a real sense of freedom. But most importantly it's still a Nintendo game, gameplay trumps everything else, this is not your generic open world-go-anywhere and-get-bored.
Everything that's here in this huge world is there for a purpose, everything interactive. Weather affect gameplay, items can be used in a lot of way. Enemies react to your different action. You're invited to try, to experiment, to discoverd new gameplay,.. to have fun !

And that's why this Zelda is a triumph

Re: E3 2016: Nintendo E3 Zelda Badge Appears to Suggest Male and Female Link

Kokusho

Looks like a women counter part to me, but it's hard to know at this point.

Whatever thoses ends up being, I REALLY love the art direction of this Zelda. I can't wait to see more but it seems like they nailed it perfectly this time.
I hope the Wii U hardware won't restrain the overall visual quality. And if it does I hope the NX version will look much better.

Re: Talking Point: Five Years of eShop Progress Doesn't Mask Nintendo's Next-Gen Challenge

Kokusho

Eshop does its job as of today. Because right know, it's job is mostly to purchase ONE game on ONE hardware every 2 month. For this purpose the interface can be as bad and slugish as it please it's only going to be infuriating for a few minutes on rare occasion.

When I loosed my 3DS and had to buy a new one and ask Nintendo SAV to transfert my game library to the new one ( an absurde process in 2016 ) I had the rather annoying task of re-downloading all my games one by one on the 3DS Eshop. It took hours...

If, for the NX, Nintendo wants its Eshop to be a regular, often used, place to buy games, it needs to seriously work on its speed and UI.
Otherwise I like the aesthetique, the cute animation and stuff, it's very Nintendo, friendly, and that's how it should be. Just faster, more organized and less... 2006...

Re: Nintendo of Europe Unveils Over 40 Discounts for eShop 5 Year Anniversary Sale

Kokusho

@AlanJones84 @Chunky_Droid @Freeon-Leon
Okay you guys are funny little nitpickers, but my point still stand.

Most of the discount are on Virtual Console / remake (yes I count Nes Remix as VC, sue me) or on small cheap game, with a 1-2 € discount (not a very interesting deal, if you didn't buy the thing before, you won't either with this).
There's a few interesting one, mainly Fast Racing Neo (which I have and don't find that great) and Child of Ligh and Trine 2 Thoses have nice discount and are the kind of game, one might have wait for a discount to buy. Unfortunatly Child of Light and Trine have already been massively discount on other plateform multiple time before.

For a 5 years anniversary of the EShop, I would have love some more Eshop exclusives title to be discount. Some big games, with significant discount from Nintendo or Third party, the 3DS has a huge back catalogue of great games waiting to be bought, even by someone like me who have most of the game he really wants.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Makes a Double Impact on the UK Charts

Kokusho

@arnoldlayne83 Oh sure, but I'm not talking about objective facts here. I'm talking about the software value of the PS4 lately. Of the 3 games listed as "big PS4 release" 2 of them are multi plateform in a genre most people having the choice would rather play on a PC than a console.

To me thoses 2 games are not valuable on PS4, Uncharted 4 is however, and a multplateform game like an Assassin Creed, Fifa or whatever that is more suited to console than a FPS would also be more valuable than DOOM and Overwatch, 2 multiplayer competitive Shooters, which is garbage on console imo.

Also let's see how much Overwatch sells on PC vs Console. I would be surprise if it sells more on console.

Re: Talking Point: The 3DS Faces the Challenge of Taking Nintendo Through 2016

Kokusho

I've just lost my new 3DS XL a few weeks ago and had then to ask myself:
"Do I buy a new one ? What are the known incoming games I want to play ? "

I'm in Europe, so I'm still eagerly waiting for Fire Emblem Fates, that alone would have most likely been reason enough, but still, I really liked Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate so I want to give a try at the next one which looks even better.
I'm also a die hard fan of the ace attorney series, and even if it pains me greatly to know that we won't ever see the Great Ace Attorney game in the West I'm still pumped for AA6.
Then there's Bravely Second, that I was playing before lossing my handeld and I want to finish it.
And Finally there's Smash 4. I don't like it that much but it's still a Smash game on the go, its still God-Tier mobile gaming.

So, in reality, even factoring that I'm not a huge pokemon guy, the 3DS still have a lot of appeal to me for this upcoming year, given how much it already had all thoses previous year that' ssaying a lot about this wonderfull little piece of hardware.

Re: Poll: Are You Ready to Download More of Your Retail Games From the eShop?

Kokusho

@Rei
If tomorrow Nintendo stop the Eshop (I'm still waiting for Steam to shutdown after people said such thing long time ago, at this rate I'll be long dead before it happens)

Well, I'll STILL have all my game on my 3DS.

And If by a sad twist of fate I then loose my 3DS and all its data. Well I can still pirates thoses games, I won't feel any guilt because I've already bought them.

So yeah, with a lot of "if" it may be an issu.

But what "if" you loose your physical tiny cartridge, it slips from your bag/pocket/3DSslot or anything really, never to be found again. Not quite as big an "if" as thoses previously mentionned.

Well, your game is gone. Woosh, farewell.

So you're fearing thoses improbables "if" of the digital field while ignoring the obvious one of the physical realm.
You see ? That's irrationnal.

And once again, I might add, as of today with Nintendo's digital state, you MIGHT have a point (I don't think we'll ever loose our eShop purchases at this point but we don't now yet so...).
But with their new unified account system, accros all devices I don't see a point where the service will stop, and if it does in the very far future, you will be able to play your game in some form.

Games are not a physical thing, games are not rare, there's an infinite number of copies of any given games.

Re: Poll: Are You Ready to Download More of Your Retail Games From the eShop?

Kokusho

@daveh30
It may be true for specialized retailers but what about general distribution (I won't give you retailers exemple I'm not in the US).
A general retailer doesn't need to make big profit on every item they sell they only need to have the product in order to get people into the store.
With Nintendo selling more and more non game physical goods (amiibo and such) there' still an incentive to sell Nintendo product without trying to make a profit on software. In the end, the more middle man there is the worse it is for consumers.

Let's imagine a moment that video games retailers don't sell physical software anymore. Will they still exist?
What would they sell? Consoles? Accessories? Goodies? Could they sell download keys? Far easier to manage you could even have a system during cashing where you get your discount. Now what's incentive as a consumers would I have to go in such a store? Maybe there could be a lot more demonstration stand to try games and consoles before buying them.

As of right now I don't care about retailers stores anymore. I already now what games are out or not. I don't need to pre-order anything. If I need a physical game I buy it cheaper on Internet and is delivered right the day it comes out. If I need any accessories I can find online or in any general store.

Vidéo game retailers needs to change with the time or else they'll die. They're already dying while still selling a more and more video games. How 's that for a shitty business model?!

Give me a place where I can try video games with strangers, have fun in local multiplayer games, try upcoming game in advance, buy goodies consoles and accessories.
Dump the whole pre order business because you won't need it if you don't have to manage stocks and inventories with digital games. By getting rid of all thoses bad business practice and embracing the all digital you actually could have a decent profit margins on new video games sales while having the same prices as online.
Here's an idea. How about retailers could help you download games on your system when you buy in their store. That way even if you have abaf connection at home you could still buy digital games.

Im pretty sure that In the digital world there's still a place for video games retailers. It's just not the same and I'm pretty sure it would be a better place than what it currently is (which is super duper bad if you didn't already know)

Re: Poll: Are You Ready to Download More of Your Retail Games From the eShop?

Kokusho

There's only two rational argument against digital only.

1 - You can't have a good enough Internet connection. Lows data cap, abysmal download rate, no public free Wi-Fi anywhere. You're basically screwed. I feel like very few gamer are actually in this situation but what do I know.

2 - The online service sucks. If you can't lend your digital game to a friend, if your games are tied to a device, if it require constant Internet connection, if download speeds are super slow, etc... Etc...

And that's it... Everything thing else is irrational fears or the desire to collect physical stuff, which are fine but still irrational

Re: Poll: Are You Ready to Download More of Your Retail Games From the eShop?

Kokusho

@Trinexx
So you're carrying your little bag with your 3ds and multiple cartridge inside of it. Do

you feel more secured than carrying with you a 3ds with all your digital library inside of it?

Because from what I can see, if you happen to loose your bag, in one case you definitely lose everything and in the other you can manage to get your games back by asking Nintendo.

Which one is the safest in reality?

And above all we're talking about the extra super duper bad nnid of today. Tomorrow we won't be locked to one physical device anymore.

Re: Poll: Are You Ready to Download More of Your Retail Games From the eShop?

Kokusho

Convienance above all else.
From this poll it seems like most people are still only buying digital when they don't have a choice.
For me it's actually the opposite.

All my 3DS games are digital (except for my very first which was fire emblem awakening and it basically never leave the cartridge slot) I have all my game with me all the time it's great it's convenient I like it.

For Wii U it's different. First the Wii U storage is ridiculous, and I don't want to have an external DD, the Wii U and all its stuff take enough room already. So most if not all of my games are physical. But because I don't often carry my Wii U with me and I don't have many game it's ok.

As for my PC games... well I don't remember the last time I bough a physical version of a PC game

So yeah, give me an all digital plateform with great online deal and I would actually be greatfull.

I would love Nintendo to be the one with enough balls to pull the trigger. Microsoft went and tried but they failed to explain why it's better that way so they had to back off.

Full digital will happen in video game, it's only logical, video game are digital goods, no amount of pretty collector box and artbook will change that. The PC market do it since forever, the mobile market is built on it from day 1, it makes their owner a fortune and their customers very happy.
Why wouldn't we want something like this ?
