Just in case Sonic's games, movies, merch, and official blue curry weren't quite enough for you, it's now been revealed that he's getting a card game, too.
Currently in the works at Steamforged Games, a UK company that creates and sells a variety of card and board games based on popular video game franchises, the new Sonic card game is called... Well, 'Sonic The Card Game'. Fitting.
Not much has been revealed aboutt it just yet, but it sounds like it'll be a unique way to have fun with playing cards:
"Sonic’s the name, and speed is the game—literally! Join the beloved blue blur in a competitive card racing game where you’ll collect power-ups and rings to win.
It’s fast family fun you’ll race through again and again."
Steamforged's site has all manner of games based on franchises like Dark Souls, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil and more if you fancy taking a look. According to a new blog post, the Sonic game will also be joined by a new Sea of Thieves project this year.
Does it sound like this could be your thing? Hopefully we'll learn more about it soon enough!

Sounds interesting, I'll definitely keep an eye out for more news on this, out of curiosity if nothing else.
Woomie could be epic or could be super bad. We'll see
"I'll use my Elisa card! Her defensive stats are very low but she has a powerful cringe ability like no other."
Seems like the usual brand tie-in to me. These usually last like a month and exist so kids can collect their printed png files. Remember when Jojo, MHA, minions, spongebob, FNAF, and even SMASH MELEE tried to start a card game? Nobody remembers them. Seems to be a thing where a card company wanted some attention so they asked SEGA for the flavor of the month "Thing next to the pokemon card aisle in target" section
I think it will not be remembered 2 or 3 years from now, but this kind of release is one of those things that nobody loses with that I guess...
<insert Sonic Shuffle reference>
This is offensive to people with degenerative neuromuscular disorders.
Steamforged make some really nice games, I used to play Guild Ball competitively and both Horizon and Dark Souls were really good quality and played really well.
I havnt played any of their card games but if they put as much care and thought into the sonic franchise it could be a decent game.
@Jayenkai I always wondered what Sonic Shuffle was like and how it compared to Mario Party! I didn't have the money for it when there was so many other Dreamcast games I wanted more.
If it ain't Uno, I ain't playing it.
And I thought he would've joined the MTG universe.
@HotGoomba what about Exploding Kittens?
I enjoy board games, but I've found Steamforge games to complicated to bring to the table most of the time. I'll probably be skipping Monster Hunter too, but who knows...
Lots of Sonic announcements, except for the one thing that made him a household name. 🤷🏾♂️
“Sonic used Speed Blast: Place 5 Speed Tokens on the opponent’s Speed Demon, draw 2 Speed Cards from the Speed Pile and place this card in Speed Mode. Shuffle the Speed Pile afterwards.”
Sounds awesome, can't wait to try it! ^^
What a strange world we live in when we need to specify cards are physical (and I know, there are many card video games). Hopefully we will never need to specify that food is physical.
I already have the Sonic X tcg, so.
Will definitely give it a look. There had better be a Storm the Albatross card.
@PBandSmelly It sounds to me like it will be a standard card game rather than a TCG/CCG. If that's true and they can get it up in various retail and online stores (at the very least "Barnes and Noble") next to all the standard decks, "Uno" variants, "Phase 10," etc., then there's a decent chance it could have some sustained success.
Wonder what Le rules will be?
Ya so I'm going to collect them (People are going to go for that bat tho)
Sure, why not if it is 1 time buy game I'm all for it.
