Earlier this week, Bandai Namco announced its third DLC pack for its open-world action RPG Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
While this game obviously isn't available on the Switch, Bandai Namco's Latin America Instagram page has got the attention of the Nintendo community by including a Switch logo at the end of DBZ: Kakarot's latest trailer for Trunks: The Warrior of Hope.
It's since been pulled - with the official Bandai Namco Instagram stating it was a mistake. Of course, the internet never forgets:
Interestingly, the same trailer also shows a logo for an Xbox Series X|S release - another version of the game that hasn't been officially announced.
Bandai Namco has shown quite a lot of support for the Switch and Dragon Ball FighterZ is still one of the best third-party ports available on Nintendo's hybrid hardware. Both it and Kakarot also happen to run on Unreal Engine 4.
Although nothing is confirmed, would you like to see Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot come to the Switch? What do you make of the above? Was it an honest mistake, or something more? Share your thoughts down below.

Don't waste your time on this. It's pretty good, but after Frieza the game is just...oh lord. Major quality drop. Jump Force again.
Question: "Would you like to see Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot come to the Switch?"
Is this rhetorical? Would I like a game to appear on a console I own? No? 🤨
I was gonna make a shenron joke but it's already made in the title, thanks Liam :/
Bandai Namco: It was a mistake.
Everyone else: Uh-huh.
Bull f***ing Sh**.
But OK.
I really want this ported to the switch, I really hope it happen, they said it was a mistake but It seems like a cover up, And the Xbox one just makes me think even more that its more real bc A Xbox ver seems more likely to happen. funny thing to today I was just thinking how cool it would be for it to be ported over to the switch LOL.
And if it turns out to be real why didn't they just say that? just wasting time but whatever. (Ya I could get this game on the ps4 but I want to play it on the switch)
@Snatcher not likely but it could be a contractional issue, they can't announce until X condition is fulfilled or something like that.
@PBandSmelly so basically like the anime but the affect is way more pronounced?
@GrandScribe
The cutscenes and gameplay take a huge dip, as if that portion of the game was made by a different dev team. Imagine if you had UI vs Jiren animation quality drop down to DBS episode 4 and 5 levels of quality in seconds
It'll come to Switch eventually, Bandai Namco said it was a mistake cause it got leak earlier when Nintendo obviously doesn't want them to reveal about it yet. Trust me if the game runs on Unreal Engine 4, Switch could handle it just fine. This game will be in the same boat as what Jump Force was last year, Namco will just give Switch owner the definitive edition when all the DLC are finalize.
Kakarot keeps getting leaked. Honestly, I love DBZ, but I don't know if I want to play an RPG.
I’d totally hope on it if it made it to Switch.
@PBandSmelly That sounds like a train wreck
@GrandScribe
It really is, but Namco has been rushing anime tie-ins since the dawn of time so really this isn't a surprise. If you want an anime tie-in made by genuine fans with amazing animations, look to Arcsys with DragonBall Fighterz
This game looks amazing but watching playthroughs has made me realize it could get kinda grindy. I guess the game tries to stay true to the anime's charging-up-power-until-next-episode rhythm somehow..
@PBandSmelly can you provide some gameplay and cutscene examples?
meh, my friend and I are massive fans and he said this is subpar. I keep it in my Steam wishlist, but I'd prefer to keep playing a good game, like FighterZ.
Major Dragon Ball fan, as in since 1995 and having spent lots of money on the franchise. Still, I can say with confidence that nothing of value was lost. It'a mediocre game and Fighterz, Xenoverse 2 and even the card game are much better experiences, all already available on Switch.
@GrandScribe
Cell Saga and Buu Saga are awesome though! Mystic Gohan, Vegeto, ss3, Gotenks, Teen Gohan, Super Buu
@GrandScribe Going by the anime, I enjoyed the Cell arc way more than the Frieza arc. The Cell arc constantly had things going. Frieza on the other hand just took forever... like really forever... and Goku was fighting him literally forever... F O R E V E R...
i read the title wrong and interpreted "the switch logo was a mistake" the same way as "anime was a mistake"
@Wilforce I have no idea about Kakarot tbh, but I think RPG would be the perfect genre for it. Did you play Legacy of Goku 2 on GBA? Still the best DBZ game I ever played... You know what would be really cool imo? An RPG to the original DragonBall, where you're Kid Goku, start from the very start, and train him, meet Bulma, Oolong, Krillin, Roshi, Yamcha and the others, explore the world on foot and later with whatever the flying clouds name is in English. Fight the RR Army. And Devil Piccolo. Meet Yajirobe, Karin and Kami. But you're playing the whole game as Kid Goku, level him up, maybe optional extra training, progress the story, follow the entire manga/anime. Remember in the anime when Kid Goku used Kamehameha and it was really small and cute? This could be his ultimate in this game!! :3 Also ...I mean, we really had enough DBZ games meanwhile, right? Maybe... change a bit for once? Not asking for GT, because that was meh... but the original DB was kinda sweet and who remembers anything of it, really?
Edit: Found it! Look at it! It's so cute... x3

As much as I love DBZ, I can’t go through the same story in the game for the 30th time.
This seems like a nice game, but having more DLC for Fighterz would be the way to go for me.
Played this on PC and... it's meh at best.
For all people wanting this on Switch, we already got 3 solid Dragon Ball games on it, especially when counting in FighterZ.
Literally noone believes you bandai, you do this every time... wait for the deluxe version with the dlc to drop and then drop it on switch at full price...
The updated trailer still shows the Xbox Series logos even though it wasn't officially announced. Only the Switch logo is gone.
But regardless if the game is coming to Switch or not, including that logo was obviously a mistake. Bandai Namco is 100% stating the truth.
Trunks isn't a name of a character. It's what you wear in the swimming pool.
How do you even ***** something like that up
@PeakUnagi it was a mistake to reveal it at this time
@Altina the Cell arc had a lot of good things going for it, Cell was a terrific villain but for me its where a lot of the tension started dying and that muted the pleasure for me.
@Balta666 That's most definitely what they meant, even if they didn't say it haha.
@Jackpaza0508 Most Dragon Ball names are puns. Trunks' family members are typically named after clothing. Meanwhile, the Saiyans are named after vegetables. You have the prince of all Vegetables, Vegeta, the guy in the carrot orange gi who goes by Goku, named Kakarot, a really tall, sometimes broccoli green haired guy named Broly. The series has strange names, it has since the manga started in the 1980's.
@Knuckles Ah that makes sense why he's called trunks. Well played Dragon Ball
Oh yeah sure, your PR department made a mistake by putting a switch logo on your trailer. I worked with stuff like that, you dont put a logo on it only if you get it from higher ups. It means they leaked someting earlier than it was meant.
@Altina Thanks for the insight. I've played a couple of the GBA games, but they never really clicked with me. DBZ Kakarot is the type of game I would've loved as a kid. It's your classic JRPG with lengthy, strategic battles. My issue is that I've kind of outgrown classic JRPGs with a few exceptions. My favorite JRPG of recent is the Bravely Default series because it takes everything I loved about FFV and puts it all into one game with new characters. Though I'm not entirely sold on the new one, I plan to pick it up later this year - would've been a launch day purchase for me if they had a Collector's Edition in the US.
Currently Xenoverse 2 is my favorite DB game. It's everything I like about Monster Hunter mashed with Dragonball.
@PBandSmelly I request elaboration
That's just lazy on their part. Do they not watch their own trailers before releasing them?
@Altina GT is actually quite similar to the first Dragon Ball series, which is part of the reason why it's reception was mixed since many fans started since DBZ. It also didn't help that weird opening rap in the English version but then again that was a problem just in the United States. Also fans tend to crap on things that aren't considered canon regardless of quality.
Personally I think that it is heavily underrated, since it has a much better story than Super, character development and the same endearing personality that Goku used to have originally. It also has what I consider a perfect ending and transformations that make sense and aren't just pallet swaps.
That and Bardock's episode are two things that Toei did much better than Toriyama.
@Wilforce Oh... Well, if Kakarot will ever come to Switch I will get that. I was interested in that, but I moved from PS4 Pro to Switch. I like DragonBall(Z) and JRPG is my most favorite genre anyway.
But... I don't think you can "grow out of JRPGs" because it's such a big and versatile genre... The only thing that can happen is that your interests went somewhere else, but there are so many different types of JRPGs... Some are tactical, some are more Novels, some are turnbased, some are realtime, some are more about the story, some more about the action, some have mechs or guns, you can do so much with that genre... And for example, Final Fantasy 15 and 7 Remake aren't that popular with some people because they're too westernized. Well, indeed SquareEnix is a company that's interested in the international market and sadly you notice that while playing their games... But, basically that just adds a bit more diversity to that already pretty diverse genre, right? Really, I don't see how you can grow out of JRPGs. Sorry.
I didn't like Xenoverse that much, sadly. It was... too much action. That was kinda stressful to me.
