I'm a Nintendo fanboy, so I'm biased, but before the switch came out, several developers were saying that "the new Nintendo system was really cool" and had them excited. If the developers are excited for a system, I believe it has real potential. People want to make games for it, and thus, it'll be the place to play the games people want to make.
So I thought it had strong potential. . . also, I didn't realize just how many systems PS4 had sold (fan boy).
It's true. Every time someone is like, "such and such game ruins friendships, " I respond, "Hang on. Have you played dokapon kingdom? Ooooh, you're in for a treat. "
1st: let me skip the co power animations. Sonia's takes forever.
2nd: I think I would've preferred one of the original games bundled with the post apocalypse one for a change of pace. That was such a neat transition for the series (before that, it felt like the new selling point of each game was "an even bigger tank!")
When I saw that bowser sung "Peaches," I thought that was hilarious.
When I found out that it wasn't the song by the presidents of the United States, (millions of peaches, peaches for me. . .), I was no longer particularly enthused.
I'm biased due to my expectations, but I wasn't impressed with bowser's peaches.
That only works so well, because companies often don't understand why their stuff isn't being purchased.
This kind of stuff often gets chocked up to, "The west isn't interested in this game style," not "The contributing factor here is that we failed to include an English dub."
It's like how netflix cancels most shows after one season, starts to lose money, and decides that the solution is to put in stricter restrictions on account sharing.
Personally, jumping to said conclusion seems like a stretch since pokemon tends not to headline new systems, but I think their thinking falls along the lines of, "If pokemon company isn't putting out a new game this fall, it's so they have an incredible game to help sell the new system in the coming year."
But again, Pokemon doesn't tend to be the headliner of new nintendo systems.
The main clothing options were so limited, so my guess is that "clearly" the reason is for immediate additional school uniforms (which everyone jumped up and down and high fived for upon reveal).
Are those percentages for real? Are they based on all time or recent controller trends?
Perhaps i'm jaded because I've owned a switch from the beginning, but 5 of the 7 pairs of joycons I own have at least one controller with drift. It could also be that many of those are older models(?). I suppose, the white oled ones I got with the oled model continue to do just fine.
I don't want to figure out how to get in contact with nintendo for repairs, as beauracracy is usually more hassle than it's worth, so I just buy new. I can afford to. But I have so little faith in their controllers currently that I won't buy a switchlite ever.
The truth is, one used to be able to trust nintendo products to last, but that was also true of so many other things back in the day.
Anyway, if they're producing better joycons now, and I've just had bad experiences, I can chock that up to statistical anomaly, bit I understand the frustration.
Still, I love nintendo forever.
Edit:
Lol, now I'm getting drift on the white oled joycons.

Re: Time Between Switch's Announcement And Launch Was A "Special Case", Says Nintendo
@Spider-Kev
Thank you!
I was spelling Reilly this way for ages, but never seemed to see it spelled that way, and I couldn't figure out why I always did.
I finally stopped using that spelling maybe a year ago, but now I totally get where I got it from.
I think the last time I saw his name was the mid 90s.
Anyways, thanks for letting me know!

I saw your image, and I have to say, Ben Riley was my favorite "spiderman."
The Scarlet Spider was awesome. Great costume!
Re: Poll: What's Your Game Plan For Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?
It's always the same with me and games like this.
Be it Zelder scrolls, elder scrolls, or fallout, my plan is always the same.
1. Ask the question, "Hey, what's that over there!?"
2. Run over there.
3. Never finish the story.

Re: Soapbox: 15 Years Ago, The Action Replay Ruined Pokémon For Me
Back on pokemon blue, I used whichever cheating device was available to replay the game several times with different starters.
One time I started with a clefairy, once a hitmonchan, and definitely once a dratini.
THAT was a lot of fun.
I wish pokemon had modes like that these days (or a completely random starter mode)

But I don't exactly have anything dumb/witty for that set.

Re: Video: We Test Dokapon Kingdom Connect's Friendship-Ending Multiplayer
Oh man, Baroque. That was probably the second rogue like I ever played, and that was crazy.
I liked it, but I always had to tell everybody who asked about it, "the game is brilliant. But, it isn't for you."
I think that game was made for maybe 5 people. It definitely wasn't main steam accessible.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp?
@Dazman
I can't look it up, currently, but it's in options.
Whatever the option is, it's labeled with letters, like "option a, or version c," or something.
It still doesn't deactivate the co power animation, but it does make the rest easier to deal with.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp?
@Dazman
There's a way to skip battle animations.
I personally have it skipping the ai animations, but keep mine.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp?
It's a great as ever, but I wish for 2 things:
1st: let me skip the co power animations. Sonia's takes forever.
2nd: I think I would've preferred one of the original games bundled with the post apocalypse one for a change of pace. That was such a neat transition for the series (before that, it felt like the new selling point of each game was "an even bigger tank!")

Re: Random: It's Okay Everyone, Kirby Doesn't Digest His Enemies
This actually disappoints me a little. I liked that he devoured everything in his path.
Although I always assumed they were instantaneously consumed and that he didn't need to digest them in his bubblegum-like stomach acid.
(That stomach acid thing isn't canon, I just envision it that way).

To be honest, I've never gotten into gyro controls, so this isn't a killer for me, but thank you for the update!
I can't wait for more remnant.
Rem 2 just released a new trailer with the dog included (no idea if it's still "Very Good Boy"). It's pretty awww-inspiring.

Wonderful, but can you tell us if the game actually runs well on switch now?
Have you guys ever checked back with it?

I have no idea. But I can probably let you know on Tuesday, if you'd like.
Re: Nintendo Download: 16th March (North America)
I am so excited to finally, FINALLY have Remnant From the Ashes on switch.
It's been my favorite game in the last 5 years!
(Also, I'm super excited for Remnant 2 in general, as it's been announced to release on something this year).
But until I'm back on my pc playing Remnant 2, I'll be waging war against the root in From the Ashes one more time in handheld!
Edit: I know the game isn't 5 years old, I'm just saying that looking back over the last 5 years, this is the one I've sunk the most time in
Re: Bowser Defends $70 Zelda Pricing, Nintendo Still "Very Bullish" About Switch

You're absolutely right, but after reading your comment, I can totally see me saying, "Yes Mr. Nintendo, tally me banana."
Which is unfortunately stuck in my head now.
Also, in this day and age, is that song inappropriate for poorly representing the English, grammatical mannerisms of another culture?

(I can't decide if I should edit my post or not. I don't want to leave your post down here with no concurrent data/post to back it up.)
Re: Random: Reggie Burns E3 With Miiverse Comparison
I still can't believe that nobody in the big 3 wants to be a part of it.
A chance for all the systems to strut their stiff always seemed more fun to me then random nintendo directs.
There was a magic to the mass group announcement where everyone was excited for quite a while after from all the announcements and reveals.
No system ever felt left out in the cold and announcements were huge.
Announcements these days never feel huge.

You know, in programming we have a saying.
There are 2 kinds of languages: languages everyone complains about and languages nobody uses.
I don't own Xbox or Playstation, so of course I complain about Nintendo. They're great, but they're not perfect.
Tangentially, back to whining about Playstation, can you believe Playstation and the lawsuit against Microsoft's acquisition of Blizzard/Activision?
