Re: Video: "This Was My Attempt To Redeem The Story Of Silent Hill 3" - Revisiting Shattered Memories With Sam Barlow

I honestly only think of shattered memories when I think of horror on the wii.

That game was amazing.

Also, I often read these articles on my phone in public places, so forcing us to watch the video without a transcript is a little frustrating, although I imagine it let's you guys put out more content, more quickly.

Thanks for reminding us of this classic horror gem!

This is a weird situation for me. I love that it's on switch and doing well. I love playing whatever I can on the switch, but. . .
I'm not sure I could enjoy this the same outside of vr. The universe is so all encompassing in vr. This is literally my go to experience for the wonders of vr, and going away from that for this game seems like a downgrade I can't personally get behind.

You honestly don't deserve to be attacked. I think most of us get it.

I bought Black/White's generation, but wasn't excited for it.

I haven't been enchanted with another game until Arceus. While I'm finally excited for true open world, it's easy in a series like this for each person to feel like the games are stale at different points.

I hope you get re-enchanted with it somewhere down the road.

Re: Talking Point: It's About Time Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night Came To Switch

Except that Alucard was slow and large in Castlevania 3. He was retconned into said gazelle.

Grant Danasty, in the same game, was an acrobat turned into a monster, and effectively aided the Belmonts without powers or a bloodline backing him.

What of Cornell, basically a werewolf who had to learn to control his powers, who gets dragged into the fight against Dracula after his adopted sister is granted as a sacrifice?

Or for that matter, Henry Oldrey, the only gun wielder in the series, who is running around saving sacrificial children while whip wielders and casters take on Dracula directly (Sneider and Fernandez, in this case).

Who can forget Eric Lecarde, the wielder of (your boy) Alucard's spear, a human waging a battle that should be above his pay grade?

What of Sonia, the unfortunately retconned proof that a woman didn't have to be a magical caster to stand up to Dracula, but could go toe to toe with him like her eventual male progeny?

All of these characters were interesting, cool, unique, and sometimes moved like badasses, just like how Alucard was interesting, cool, unique, and sometimes moved like a badass.

However, unlike the others, Alucard got to feature on the best Castlevania game, and was suddenly catapulted to stardom.

I appreciate the game, but hate how this one entry made Alucard the major fan favorite of the series.
He's interesting, but there are so many cool characters in the Castlevania universe, and if his movement and style hadn't been retconned in this game from Castlevania 3, he may have continued to be one of many cool characters.

Instead, now he's basically the only character most of my friends ever talk about when conversing about Castlevania. . .rolls eyes

Re: Mini Review: Penko Park - A Worthy Spiritual Successor To Pokémon Snap

@AstraeaV

I don't mind it when it's the same company as the original, but a sequel doesn't make sense.

Although a somewhat flawed example,it's like rare perfecting their fps design after goldeneye, but moving on to a different agent.

(It's off the top of my head, so it clearly isn't a perfect example, as I wouldn't really call perfect dark a spiritual successor, but something like that situation works for me with spiritual successors).

Re: Talking Point: What Does Your Favourite Pokémon Say About You?

My favorite starter want my first starter. My first starter was squirtle, but my fave is piplup, whom I named "Pengin," and would never, ever trade to Cartman for "shoe."

My favorite of all time is Zapdos, because his spiky plumage reminds me of Doc Brown's hair. Zapdos will always be "the Christopher Lloyd of pokemon, " to me.

My other favorites are generally the most conceptually ridiculous ones. Defeating someone with an ice cream, a bag of trash, or a chandelier always makes me laugh.
