As someone who enjoys watching old TV idents, pages from CEEFAX, and other clips from 80s-early 2000s TV, this sounds right up my alley. Nice to have something with zero pressure and minimal interactivity sometimes.
Been playing BALL x PIT on Game Pass, but it’s so addictive I can see this being one of those titles I snag on other platforms. Especially portable ones…
Expecting my copy of Pokémon Legends Z-A to finally arrive today (got my order in a little too late for release day), so there’ll definitely be some of that in the mix this weekend.
I got to try out a real Virtual Boy a few years ago and thought it was pretty cool. Played a good bit of V-Tetris without trouble.
This whole thing is ridiculous, but… I’m looking forward to being able to play that Tetris game again, and trying out more of the Virtual Boy library. Already got the necessary NSO subscription. The accessory wasn’t as pricey as I thought it might be. Day one for me.
I picked up the STEALTH travel case, which was released a couple of months before Switch 2. Firm shell. Storage for 12 game carts. It has a couple of foam adapters that are held in place with velcro, for storing the smaller original Switch and Lite models.
Cheap, but good. I’m pleased with it so far. Kept my Switch 2 well protected when I took it to a meetup last week.
I’ve ordered one. The GL and GR buttons sold me on it. After playing with other controllers that have them I’m convinced customisable back buttons/paddles should be a standard feature. Set them to behave as the stick buttons. More comfortable to use.
Should be freely included. It just looks like a dry tour of the console with mini games thrown in to demonstrate its features. Probably fine for its purpose, but if I was shown this next to Astro’s Playroom with no prior knowledge and asked which one was a paid game and which was a free tutorial, I’d think Astro was the paid one.
Will be nice to play Wind Waker again, although I do wish we'd gotten a port of the HD version instead. Also good to see the GCN Pokémon games coming later.
I'm crossing my fingers for Eternal Darkness and Skies of Arcadia Legends to make an appearance too.
I did not even catch them mentioning this was paid software in the Direct. Honestly thought this was going to be a free digital bundle, like Aperture Desk Job or Astro’s Playroom. Neat idea having a game showcasing Switch 2 features, but it doesn’t seem to have half the charm of its freely included counterparts.
Glad to get some attention on Intrepid Izzy! Thanks for including my suggestion.
There is a lot here I haven’t even heard of, let alone played. Seeing a few titles that have me intrigued. Always nice to see some love for the games that so easily get overlooked.
Skies of Arcadia will always be one of my top choices. Both Sonic Adventure titles were ported to XBLA, with DX and Battle features available as DLC. I figured SoA would eventually get similar treatment, with Legends DLC. Disappointed we never got it, and the game still hasn’t been seen since GameCube.
I played an early demo of this when the devs came to a local gaming event last year. Loved the look and concept back then, and looking forward to seeing the finished game.
Got back into Tears of the Kingdom recently, so mostly been playing that. I’m trying to get some games off my backlog, and still haven’t finished TOTK since release!
Gotta disagree with the soundtrack not fitting. It’s an odd choice for this type of game, sure, but go look at the music video for Valensia’s “Gaia”. It’s surreal and fantastical and Air Twister feels like playing through an interactive version of that. Whether or not that was the intent, I think the audio and visuals pair well.
I tried the demo of Dave the Diver for a bit, got hooked on the simple but addicting gameplay loop, and bought it almost immediately.
Finished the main story last night and still playing, wrapping up those little unfinished bits. A fun and charming game from start to finish. Gonna grab it on Steam soon. Hope it comes to other consoles.
Finished Cocoon tonight after checking it out on Game Pass. A beautiful and unique puzzle game. The mechanics of the orbs are a lot of fun, and it’s so satisfying when a puzzle clicks.
It’s £24.99 on the Xbox store. I can understand a small price increase to account for the porting work involved, but £15 more? Seems a bit much, especially as it’s not even remastered. Still, good to see RDR coming to other platforms.
Good move. If they’re not going to outright ban projects that use AI (which I’m sure would’ve caused some drama) then forcing creators to be transparent about it is the way to go.
If a project I find interesting uses AI, knowing how and to what extent it’s being used would affect my decision to back it.
I’m looking forward to this one. Tried the Steam demo and it’s good fun. Colourful, chaotic, and lots of mess.
My only gripe with it is that the inverted controls setting didn’t work in the demo. Hopefully that’s fixed by launch. I want to pick Gori up on release day, but I’ll be waiting to see if that’s addressed first.
They should’ve added the Master System versions. I was ready to jump on this DLC day one, until I saw it was going to have only the Game Gear versions. It’s almost always Game Gear whenever 8-bit Sonic gets ported. I can’t recall SMS Sonic getting a new release outside of them coming to Wii eShop.
Huh. I guess I’m “nowhere near completing it” yet. But I’m pretty sure I’m close.
Or… Maybe not. I’ve got a lot of main quest stuff done, so I could probably finish it any day now. But I’ve still got a good amount of side quest stuff to do, gear to upgrade, caves to explore. You know. Everything that is somehow more important than saving Hyrule.
I gave Fortnite a try when it first came to Switch, but at the time it wasn't really my kind of thing. Returned to the game during C3, S2 to play with a friend who was streaming the Zero Build mode and had a lot of fun. I've played every season and bought every Battle Pass since then.
Even though I've not taken a long break from the game since getting into it, big updates can take a bit of getting used to with all the new weapons, mechanics, and changes to POIs they bring. The UE5 update almost felt like a brand new game. I can only imagine what it must feel like to return after several months and seeing how much has changed.
Even after Frontiers (which I loved) I remain cautiously optimistic about new Sonic games. I'd be worried about this playing like the Classic Sonic stages in Forces. Or worse, Sonic 4.
Trailer looks promising though. Will be watching out for this one.
NPUK groups are great ways to meet fellow Nintendo fans and make friends. I got involved with my local group's online community a few months before the Switch launched (back when they were all still under the "StreetPass" name), going to my first mini-meet just a couple of days after the console's release.
I've met a lot of amazing people through that community, the gaming cafe that opened a couple of months later (sadly closed last October, but now operating as an events business running conventions and smaller events), and the online communities that grew out of the 2020 lockdowns.
Definitely worth having a look for NPUK communities in your area, or see if you can start one if you don't have a local group already.
Congrats on 10 years. Here's to the next 10 and more!

Re: Alarmo Receives A Software Update, Here Are The Patch Notes
Huh. The Animal Crossing theme looked fine to me. Switched to Kirby after the last update, but will have to check this out.

Re: ICYMI: If You Want To Play Virtual Boy Classics, You'll Need To Buy One Of Nintendo's Accessories
This was a highlight of the Direct for the pure unexpectedness of the Virtual Boy getting added to NSO, of all things.
It’s actually not as pricey as I thought it’d be (£66.99 in UK). I was waiting to see it be closer to £100.
Got my order in. It’s absolutely daft, but I got to try out a real VB a few years ago and I love the chance to play some of those games again.
Re: Nintendo Alarmo Is Getting A Kirby-Themed Update
I’ve been using the Animal Crossing theme. The Roost’s music is nice to wake up to. Will definitely check out the Kirby theme when it’s available.
Re: Random: Hideo Kojima Remembers That Time He Used Unwanted Teddy Bear Tech To Make A GBA Vampire Game
Maybe if they’d had unwanted garlic breath detecting tech Kojima could’ve introduced the other feature he wanted.

Re: Video: Do You Even Need A Pro Controller For The Switch 2?
@jfp Glad to pass a helpful tip on! It really is so much better. I’d be all for getting rid of stick buttons and replacing them with back buttons.
Re: Video: Do You Even Need A Pro Controller For The Switch 2?
@Ooyah JUMP mapped to stick click?! 😱
Does that system have back buttons? I’ve mapped stick buttons to those on Steam Deck as well. Don’t know if Rog Ally has something similar.

@Hoshiko Nice to see someone else spotted this. It’s a fun detail.
Re: Poll: Did You Get A Switch 2 Purchase Invite From Nintendo Yet? (Europe)
I think I didn't quite meet the criteria, so no invite for me. Got a preorder secured elsewhere though.
Re: UK Switch 2 Fans, Don't Bother Going To GAME Stores For Your Pre-Order
They use one of the worst delivery services in the UK too. Suspected preorders would be delivery only, so skipped GAME.
Re: Talking Point: Zelda: Wind Waker Is On Switch 2 - Do You Still Want A WW:HD Port?
I’m glad to see it playable on Switch in some form, but I still really want a port of Wind Waker HD.

Re: 15 Best Sidequests In Switch Games
Wait until Yakuza Kiwami 2 comes to Nintendo and you find the "Be My Baby" substory. Under Suspicion has nothing on that.
The series has so many bizzare side quests, it's easy to forget the drama of the main story.
Re: Nintendo Life's Switch Summer Survey 2024
Dammit, I answered one of the questions wrong. Could’ve used an option to correct!
Also been made a liar by that last one. I’ve licked a cartridge twice. I didn’t like it. I’m just stupid enough to try it again. 😂
Re: Skies Of Arcadia-Inspired JRPG 'Sky Oceans: Wings For Hire' Lands New Gameplay Trailer
Still want a port/remaster/remake of SoA, but I’ll be keeping an eye on this.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 24th)
Picked up Pocket Card Jockey and Penny’s Big Breakaway immediately after the Direct.
Loved PCJ on 3DS, and played Ride On! while I had an Apple Arcade trial. Great to see this version come to Switch. Hooked again!

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's GBA Library With Two RPG Classics Next Week
Time for me to get back on NSO then. Been excited for Golden Sun to come to Switch since they were announced. Amazing games.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 11th)
Wrapping up post game stuff with Dave the Diver in between sessions with Air Twister (PS5 for the latter, but gonna get Switch too for portability).

Re: Poll: Which Dormant Nintendo Franchise Would You Most Like To See Return?
I would LOVE to see Eternal Darkness come back. Remaster Sanity’s Requiem and pop out a sequel.
Golden Sun needs to return as well. Excited for the GBA games to come to NSO Expansion, but I want to see more from the series.
Re: Sega President Teases Possible Sonic "Reboots And Remakes"
