Random: Chris Pratt Will Also Be The Voice Of Garfield

It's official, the mario movie is in development hell and he's moved onto Garfield. @hobbitgamer @bimmy-lee were right the whole time.

Oh for crying out loud… this has got to be a joke at this point.

I feel he will somehow find a way to perfectly fit this role. I love how literally ever movie coming out next year I want to see, mario and jurassic world, both feature Chris Pratt as the main guy.

Chris Pratt can definitely pull off lazy if Parks And Rec is any indication, but idk, it'll be hard to beat Bill Murray. Those movies sucked, but his voice fit Garfield pretty much perfectly.

But the original voice of Garfield (Lorenzo Music) died 20 years ago. And besides, Chris Pratt IS a voice actor--he did a solid job with Emmet in The Lego Movie.

RIP Lorenzo Music. Can't blame Bill Murray for not wanting to do another movie. I hope Pratt can do a good impression of them both - Garfield's voice has been set for decades. [edit] lol above poster beat me to it by seconds!

@CharlieGirl Its ironic too since Hollywood loves to save money almost as much as they love making it. They could save a lot of money and produce a higher quality product by using proper voice actors and film actors in the roles in their respective fields instead of just paying the highest bid for the most expensive celebrities on the market.

I know. I have never gone to see an animated movie because so and so was doing the voice acting. Most of the time I can't even tell it's them.

He was great in the Lego Movie, but he sounded like himself. With Mario and Garfield, I don’t want to get them mixed up. Haha

@graviton Chris Pratt also played the role of Rex Dangervest, who I was convinced was played by Kurt Russell, until I saw the end credits.

I'll just say the same thing i said when he was cast for the Mario-movie: Let's wait until we see/hear how he does at the role before yelling that the sky is falling...

I think Chris will be a better Garfield than he is a Mario! Sarcastic and slightly bored he's got down. It's happy, friendly and/or upbeat in not sure of... But I haven't seen Parcs and Rec, and he looked like a total goofball in the stuff I've seen.

I woke up this morning and Chris Pratt's voice came out of my mouth.

He is like one of the top 5 male actors in terms of popularity now. I wouldn't say it is a surprise that he keeps getting new jobs.

@Dethmunk I’ve been thinking similar about the church connection- it seems to me that many religions and churches have some horrible views and practices associated. I’m not going to name names because I’m not interested in triggering anyone but some recent church related scandals have been abhorrent but without church affiliated actors being held personally responsible

Lorenzo Music is Garfield, he can never be replaced for me.

Fun fact: He also voiced Peter Venkman in the Ghostbusters cartoon. While the real Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) voiced Garfield in the live action movies.

Bill Murray did a decent job, unfortunately everything else about the live action movies were horrible.

Chris Pratt was originally considered to be Tom "Donut Lord" in the Sonic movie before they got James Marsden, they also considered Chris Evans and Paul Rudd.

We could have had an alternate universe where Chris Pratt was in the MCU, a Garfield movie, and both Mario and Sonic movies, but James Marsden had to be a spanner in the works.

I still hope Chris Pratt can be in one of the Sonic movies, he could be a good Shadow and it would be a good break from his usual roles. He could also bring a sarcastic side to his portrayal of Shadow.

I love them both, though. They're both really cool and really hot.

The next milestone for him after being in both Mario and Sonic is to appear in an anime English dub.

Some of his fellow Marvel actors voiced some roles in anime. Matt Damon and Cate Blanchett (both from Thor: Ragnarok) were both in the English dub of Ponyo; Christian Bale (soon to be in Thor: Love and Thunder) was in the English dub of Howl's Moving Castle; Tom Holland was in the British English dub of Arrietty (his very first film role too, long before he became Spider-Man); while Samuel L. Jackson produced and starred in Afro Samurai.

I like Chris Pratt as an actor, so I'm cool with him getting these roles.

@Dethmunk No, not every church. It's much easier for independent churches (it's also easier for them to be discriminatory). The bigger established churches have processes for change, but it takes a long time, because they've been going a long time. Many Christians are on a journey from biblical literalism, to a more nuanced understanding of the message.

I wonder if producers like his voice that much or if they're just hoping his name will draw a large crowd. Like other said, Lorenzo Music was the best Garfield, but finding someone like him would probably be hard.

‘Unconstructive’ to non-specifically complain about Chris Pratt. Well alrighty then. We all know exactly why you’re writing these articles anyway.

I wonder if he's going to voice Garfield more like Lorenzo Music, the original voice of Garfield, more like Bill Murray, the voice of Garfield in the live-action movies, or put his own spin on the iconic character.

Either way, I'll be first in line to see it! I've loved Garfield since I was a baby: on my first birthday, my cake had figurine of Garfield as a baseball pitcher on top of it.

I also own several pieces of Garfield memorabilia, including a Garfield plushie, which we would place on our kitchen counter whenever we ate lasagna, to make it feel like he was joining us in eating his favorite meal.

This makes more sense to me. I honestly can hear his voice as Garfield. It won't be the same "sleepy" sounding Garfield, but I think it still works.....now on Mario I think he's a bad choice.

I wonder why Frank Welker isn't voicing Garfield. Not a huge fan of CG Garfield, but his voice wasn't bad. Hopefully, Garfield's mouth won't move this time around. I was disappointed that even The Garfield Show had his mouth moving.

Well, this makes as much sense as him voicing Mario.

I like him as an actor in Guardians but he's not a voice actor. It will just be Chris Pratt playing Garfield and Mario, he's probably not going to do a voice for either movie.

This is how Hollywood has been casting voice over for movies for decades, hire an actor to bring in sales.
