Re: Rumour: Latest Switch 2 Theory Suggests Release Date Might Be Right Around The Corner

Jimez

I know Nintendo did it before with Switch, but I'm not totally convinced it'll happen again.

15th May is the date a new store opens. Likely issues may occur, such as tills going down or a delay in opening. Launching a new console that day might not be the wisest idea.

With the shipments, maybe Nintendo are trying to avoid the Trump tariffs that hit April, so getting them in before things hit isn't bad idea.

Re: Niantic Sells Pokémon GO And Entire Gaming Division For $3.5 Billion

Jimez

Hoping that things stay roughly as they are with PoGo and Pikmin. I'm sure Nintendo, Game Freak, Pokémon Company etc will be watching carefully.

I mean, if Scopely start monetizing as they do on their other games or start locking features behind a pay wall (such as you can get unlimited stop spins for £4.99) then people (like myself) will just uninstall

Re: 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends In "Early April" 2024

Jimez

That sucks. Least there's time to get some final Mario Kart 7 matches in. And (for now at least) Streetpass remains active.

But then, keeping servers up for an ever decreasing player base must me expensive and eventually something has to give.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Players UK - A Decade Of The UK's Biggest Nintendo Fan Community

Jimez

I'm a member of Nintendo South Wales group. I joined initially when it was split into two Streetpass groups. One was Cardiff, the other was Swansea. Over time, both groups merged and became what was then Streetpass South Wales before becoming what it is now, Nintendo South Wales.

I've made some friends in the group over the years, have gone to some standout events including the North Vs South Wales event in Aberystwyth and the most recent NPUK Mario Kart/Splatoon Championships in Birmingham.

I still regularly attend South Wales events, and will continue to do so as long as they are run.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online N64 Service With GoldenEye 007

Jimez

Without using the NSO N64 controller, the controls are pretty bad. Fair enough, you can jiggle it around a bit. But, you'll have to jiggle it back before playing other titles.

Nintendo seems to always find a way to make things difficult.

Ah well, there's always the Xbox version with better controls

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?

Jimez

Too many farming and JRPG games on show. Great for people who love these types of games, but it's certainly not for everyone.

For me, I'm happy to see Kirby Adventure Wii come to Switch. And nice to get confirmation that Pikmin 4 is coming next year same as Zelda.

NSO. Again, a lot of Mario Party. However, GoldenEye was a highlight. Glad to see the licencing situation is sorted. And from what I can tell, online play looks exclusive to Switch.

Re: Metroid Series Tops Wii U eShop's "Best Sellers" List Following Dread Reveal

Jimez

It's nigh on impossible to find a physical copy of either Zero Mission or Fusion for a reasonable price. CEX sold out of physical copies online, same goes for Samus Returns.

Fortunately, i've got my Fusion cart somewhere in a drawer. And have Samus Returns digitally on my 3DS, now just need to either find a cart of Zero Mission or get a digital copy via WiiU

If anything, this should be a clear indication that older titles are still in demand. Bring more past titles to Switch Nintendo, please.

Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Hits Switch This July Alongside Themed Joy-Con

Jimez

Yeah, this one is a pass. Skyward Sword (for me, and from looking at the comments quite a few others) is one of the worst 3D Zelda games available. Taking the motion controls out of the picture for a moment, level designs are not the best either. Way too much backtracking to make it even remotely enjoyable (for me anyway)

And it's nice they've added motion-less controls, but Nintendo are aware of the drift right?. Using the right stick for the sword movements, it's a nice idea but i can only imagine it wearing out quick.

Re: Nintendo Executive Blocked Remake Of GoldenEye 007, Says Former Rare Dev

Jimez

@AnnoyingFrenzy I think Nintendo/Rare owned the original source code for GoldenEye, Microsoft own Rare and the Bond License was(at the time) owned by Activision. So, in order to get this game released, you need permissions off all sources

When Rare was bought by Microsoft, all Nintendo IP's went back to Nintendo (Rare were working on DK Racing and recently just finished Starfox Adventures) and all Rare IP's stayed with Rare. So for the likes of Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark etc which released on the N64, Rare could re-release them onto the Xbox no issues.

Re: Nintendo To Face Another Class Action Lawsuit For Switch "Joy-Con Drift"

Jimez

Nintendo used to be about Quality, up until the Switch i experienced no issues with the 1st party controls. But, the Joy cons have caused me issues as well as many others. And, at £60-£70 per set, it's an expensive purchase so you'd expect quality. Nintendo will fix them, for a fee in some areas (usually at £30 per joycon) and there's no guarantee that they won't drift again.

Seriously, Nintendo need to address this issue and source parts which won't cause these issues.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying The Cloud Version Of Hitman 3 On Nintendo Switch?

Jimez

Cloud gaming isn't a great option. The likes of Google Stadia sound good on paper, but if they decide to shut the servers down you've lost access to the games you may or may not have purchased.

I decided to get Hitman 3 on another format, managed to transfer my progress across with my unlocks earned. And, at least if the internet went offline for a bit, i can still play.

Re: Switch Owners "Most Likely" To Own A Rival Console, 2020 Study Shows

Jimez

I used to be Nintendo only until the Wii, then bought an Xbox 360. Ever since, I've owned a Nintendo console alongside either an Xbox or PlayStation. For me, I can't just own a Nintendo machine. There are games I'd have missed out on (Last of Us, Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2).

At the moment, I own a Switch and a PlayStation 5. The Switch was perfect for playing on the go, but the pandemic hit.

Re: Video: The Switch Is A Wii U Port Machine, And That's A Good Thing

Jimez

The WiiU was a great machine, it's a shame it didn't sell as well as it should have. People were confused and thought it was an add-on to the Wii, so didn't think about picking one up.

I for one like that games like Pikmin 3 are coming onto Switch, it gives a new lease of life to games which didn't sell as well as Nintendo would have liked. However, i'm not a fan of these "deluxe" versions being sold for full price. Some of these "deluxe" versions come with all the DLC (Hyrule Warriors, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros U). Others like DK Tropical Freeze do not.

If these remasters were £10 cheaper, it would be better.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Majora's Mask At 20 - The Enduring Appeal Of Nintendo's Strangest Game

Jimez

And this was made on a bet, which makes it more unique and special.

Love the original, and have played the 3DS remake a couple of times. The improvements they made certainly make it easier for new players to understand how this game works. The ability of using masks to be able to open new areas or complete side quests was a good experience. Loved this game, it's certainly in my top 10 of all time.
