Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Uses Dynamic Resolution Scaling To Maintain Performance

Jamotello

from EZA, the wife of one of the guys in their podcast (jones) said his wife was watching him play - or was playing, i forget. he was pointing out to her where the frame drops were and she didn't notice a thing. i think a lot of this is perception. when you know what to look for and look for it, you'll see it. if not, then nothing. it's like learning to taste wine jsut so you'll hate the wine you've enjoyed before because it's got the wrong this or that to it.

@CircuitWrangler3 i do agree with zelda's role as you mentioned. that's one of the jobs of a system seller after all. it was never a technical showcase as it doesn't use the showcase hardware feature of neither the wii u, nor switch. but for a small team at shin'en to vastly improve it's game for it's switch hd remake/port, then nintendo only mildly improve it's own with all their resource and access, shows that shin'en clearly went above and beyond.

damn straight it's a 9. i'd give it a dime, really. i haven't played zelda yet because of it. just... one... more... championship... i think between this and shovel knight, my rage quit quota for the month has already been met.

boiling bolt and post-human war look interesting. striker's looks to be a good choice for multiplayer. pankapu is a stylish platformer and that space is a tough one. it's going to need something to distinguish itself.

anandtech article about the switch power consumption:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/11181/a-look-at-nintendo-switch-power-consumption/2

a quote: the Switch apparently can’t pull enough energy from standard 5V-output power banks to meaningfully recharge its battery while gaming. So with a 5V power bank, if your Switch is fully depleted, you’ll need to stay attached to the bank the entire time you’re playing, or take a break and let the bank recharge the Switch while it’s sleeping. In the case of the latter, the recharge rate should only be a bit lower than if you had used the AC adapter.

Re: Feature: We Grade the Various Nintendo Switch Launch Complaints from the Web

i asked a certain hipster in the live chat for the switch launch if the memory cards were hot swappable, and he said yes. i tried it and no, they aren't. the system turns off when you remove the memory card.

the joycons slide in and out just fine on the switch, and the grip, but not with the straps. they have no positive reassuring click with the straps, and it feels like they're being broken as it requires force to get them out.

i think the first problem ca be fixed with some system software witchcraft. the second one, lube is not recommended as that gunks up over time.

Re: FAST RMX Developer is Already Working on an Update for the Switch Launch Title

Jamotello

i have legend of zelda but i haven't played it yet. fast racing rmx is the only game i've played so far on my switch. it's a luv/hate thing with rage quits and championship podiums. i haven't even played shovel knight yet on it.

i wonder what shin'en will do next? they went from sci-fi, twin stick, mario galaxy-influenced shooter; to sci-fi hovercar racing; loaded with action in both titles. sci-fi futurism is their thing, with heavy syd mead influence, it seems. can't go wrong there.

good move putting 'repost' in the tweets now when they're retweets of earlier new items. thanks for that.

btw i participated in the ubisoft open beta for ghost recon wildlands. in the survey afterwards, they ask if i've heard of the nintendo switch and my answer was 'yes and have already pre-ordered'. take that as you will for the status of anything ghost recon on switch for the future. it's a neat game from what i played.
