i'm of the camp as many other nintendo fans. i think the games are too expensive for what they offer; i think the console is too expensive for no game bundled; i think they should've gone with tegra x2; i think they should've made a bigger battery; i think this complaint, and that complaint. then in the end, i'm still buying everything.

i think a grasshopper x platinum game is going to need some SERIOUS oversight. in other words, adult supervision. western clients don't seem to bring out their best. it's when they get contracts from their fellow japanese that they produce their classics.

@NintyNate i was watching the first impressions of the switch from easy allies. i may have misheard it but he was giving the impression that you could go offline multiplayer with multiple switches. no split screen tho'.

depending on the accuracy of the camera, they could've made a 'lie to me' game with facial recognition assisting in detecting truth or lies.

@DanteSolablood yeah and the batteries can't be augmented externally like an iphone battery case since it won't fit in the cradle anymore. i am guessing warranty voiding aftermarket battery upgrades will be incoming soon enough.

i was thinking that in the future, a switch xl might come out, but maybe they might think smaller. a foldable switch mini maybe?

they really think of nintendo as the retro console, i think.

a stand would be ideal if it also folded over as a protective shell that was also easily removed or somehow has clearance for docking. the snugness or looseness of that dock really limits possibilities for protective accessories. a case that doubles as a stand would be a best case scenario i think.

@DiscoGentleman the guy did get vindicated afterwards, but he was still going off a script instead of by ear. doing it live is a skill level meant for the u.n. and not the localizers at nintendo. this was jsut a side assignment so he should be fine, aside from a bit of office teasing.

@MitchVogel a transcript with a more thorough translation didn't really improve understanding all that much. the poor live translator got more grief that he deserved, assuming reggie hasn't laser-eyed him before he got his due.

we might see borderladns 3 on the switch, but if it's a wait and see, we'll likely see it a mllion years after it's been out on the other platforms first.

they consider the vita a legacy system now, and don't see a handheld in their future. the switch might make them rethink that. the vita successor might come and could be a ps3 portable with the switches docking capabilities. they could even go all out and make it a ps4 portable with switch docking capabilities.

the backwards compatibility of the switch will be held hostage by the existence of the 3ds. the need for the switch to be completely new will minimize or even squash any talk of wii u backward compatibility. they do NOT want to associate the switch with the wii u in any way shape or form for now.

having said that, i wouldn't be surprised if sales staff are instructed to redirect any old timers looking for the nes classic towards the switch, saying that it has a virtual console with even mroe classic games and you can play it on the go.

i think they jsut really want to establish this as something new first, before they open the door to the past. a lot of us want that door open on day one already, but we aren't the mass or casual market they want.

i can understand why they eschewed street pass. they really want to HAMMER that this is a home console that can go on the road, not the other way around. there was no need to choose other social media over miiverse. they could easily coexist. i guess they also want to reinforce that this isn't cutesy or kiddie.

@BAN oh we're all fanboys here. it's telling tho' that you'd describe them as not going for the most obvious and easiest win. that too might be in the past as last year, they released two mobile games. time will tell if those were serious blunders, or their way forward.

@mikegamer yeah that's something they do to themselves for some reason. every great innovation or step forward is accompanied by an intentional own goal. n64 had beastly power, but used cartridges. the gamecube finally went with discs, but intentionally made them much lower capacity, for reasons that only made sense to them. the wii had the most innovative controller in history, but with the power closer to the previous generation. the wii u shortcomings deserve it's own documentary. the switch looks like it could finally break that bad habit. time will tell.

@3MonthBeef yeah they went with sgi. i think it was more important they show continuation rather than not show weakness.

as a non sequitur, silicon graphics were almost synonymous with cgi back then. all the awesome fx from hollywood was done on sgi workstations. then sgi slowly but surely went kaput. for the gamecube, nintendo went with powerpc. it was the hot new chip as it was being adopted by apple moving from the old cisc motorola chips. the powerpc lost relevance over time as well. now nintendo is moving to the most dominant name in desktop graphics. i wonder what nvidia will be like in a few years.

@BAN no they don't cry about that. it's always the players. i just happen to be a player. it's not really just about high end third party stuff. there are games like ni no kuni that truly belong on a nintendo home console and not just the ds.

@luke88 you're not wrong. i luv them too. there's a very thin line between pride and arrogance. i jsut see them on the wrong side of that line too often. when they trip, it's often on something they themselves put in their own way and insisted wasn't there.

specs matter. the self-inflicted hobbling of nintendo hardware over the generations has to stop.

they can still do these. not like they stopped licensing. some enterprising individual can make use of the idea, but not bet so much that it requires billions to make sense.

my first 3ds was the new one, so to me it was always reliable. along with the dual screens, the feature helped distinguish the 3ds from a mobile platform.

someone should really make a kontrol freek like attachment for the new 3ds. i really hate that eraser nub.

i'm tempted to go all tinfoil hat and see sony's hand blocking this, but i think there are more shin megami tensei titles on the 3ds, then the persona titles go on sony. might just be how they do things at sega in regards to the series. wouldn't be surprised if the next smt title was exclusive to nintendo.

the joycons would make great webshooter controls.

it's only a bit more than a week until the reveal of all reveals. this may be a fake, ut it does direct attention away from super mario run's performance. a good thing, imo.

i wouldn't be surprised if the reason these games weren't brought over to the wii was the insistence that they use motion controls. a hack & slasher like dmc would be great with actual hacking & slashing.

anybody worried about tripla-a titles on switch, this is one of the nvidia techniques likely used to make it happen. it works on maxwell as it's reportedly to be used on switch. could still be x2 pascal.

@ThomasBW84 just read it. good analysis. i would also add that the pre-release downturn was likely anticipation of the reaction. the drop was jsut realizing it. pure gaming companies are such a strange beast to investors, and nintendo is the strangest beast of them all.
