Shin'en Multimedia, developer of Switch launch game FAST RMX, has announced that it's already well underway with the first update to the futuristic racer. Serving as a remix (with extra content) to FAST Racing NEO (a popular eShop title released on the Wii U), the newest iteration of the supersonic racing game will be getting new content, including a "Time Attack Mode" and "Online Friend Support".

The studio sent us the following details.
I would like to let you know that we are already working on the first update to FAST RMX. It will add:
Time Attack Mode - 90(!) time attack trials will be available
Online Friend Support - A new mode for online racing allows to race against friends
No official date has been given for the update, with the company stating the release is "coming soon".
Have you picked up FAST RMX? Are you looking forward to racing friends or tackling time trials?

I picked this up immediately. It's great. Silky smooth and a joy to play. Online seemed to work well when I tried it.
The game is already getting some excellent reviews. Really nice to see this publisher thrive on the eshop.
Can't wait to get my hands on this !
Ninty should give this developer the job of making F-ZERO with there own twist on the franchise, bring it right up to date with their way of thinking
I've been having trouble playing online. Dunno if it's only me
They made an already great Wii U game even better, and even though it's only just been out for a few days, they're already rolling out updates to add even more content.
Shin'en truly is one of the biggest small companies there is. Hats off to them.
this is the only game i have at the moment but i love it
Picked it up, along with Snipperclips.
I wasn't sure if I'd like it or if I should wait for Redout, but I'm loving it. Really beautiful, and perfect for short bursts of play (a championship is only 3 tracks which is great). To me it's as good as having a new F-Zero (you can hate me for that).
Glad to read they're expanding it !
Oh man, I just got FRN but I'll probably pick this up with Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. It looks awesome and even better than the original.
The more contents the better, this game is rocking.
Definitely buying this when I come up for air from Zelda... So June.
Funny how I was just mentioning yesterday at the local Switch Facebook group that the absence of "Time Trial" was odd and it would surely come at a later update. Looks like sooner than expected.
@NintySnesMan Just change the name on the title screen and I think they already did...
Such a great developer. I started playing this before BotW and couldn't put it down, despite also owning the Wii U version.
I also got this game (along with Zelda & Snipperclips). I'm really enjoying it so far - a real adrenaline rush! Perfect for those short burst "downtime" moments in between playing BOTW. Online is great too.... and I actually won a race against 5 people - woot!!
I'm absolutely loving this console!!!
Shin'en rocks. Love this game on WiiU, and I've never been a big racing fan outside of Kart.
Does this game let you "share the joy" with split screen or is it online multiplayer only?
Very impressed with this. Only the hero mode is strange. I thought I read it was to be like F-Zero for boost and energy management. It's actually one death and game over.
@VR32F1END Yes, local split-screen.
Does anyone know when the ns will be back In stock
Had the Wii U version and now the switch version. What a beautiful racer and a perfect solution for those who've been craving a new F zero for years! Too bad I completely suck at it lol! Meanwhile perhaps on the Switch Nintendo will eventually answer that call!
1 2 switch is better!
I definitely will be picking up the DLC, I have been having a blast playing Fast RMX reliving memories of FZERO and Wipeout! My wife and I love this game good times!
@joey302 I have been begging for an FZERO reboot forever now it needs a good mix of old school and new school Please Nintendo!
I've been debating this vs snipperclips. The kids and I have been enjoying the demo very much.
All credit to them, I enjoyed the WiiU version but was rubbish at it!
@Badwolf655321 me too and millions others bro! Nintendo just doesn't seem to care! That's y Shin'en deserves big support for this release for catering to our futuristic racing itch!! Meanwhile kiss the very ground your wife walks upon!! My wife hasn't touched a video game since Tetris on the Snes (we we're dating) lol. So that is just awesome that your wife's into it today!! 👍
Definitely buying this for my switch.
The problem I have with Shin'en, is that they weren't transparent and didn't say before launch that FAST RMX has less features than its predecessor.
They should have been transparent and told us, but could of course have added that the features of its predecessor will arrive after launch.
I have felt tricked into buying this for two days, as Shin'en told Nintendo Life in an interview that FAST RMX is an upgrade but left out that some features would be left behind.
This game has 10 separate cups, 30 tracks!
So it's the base game, plus all DLC tracks plus new tracks on top of that.
This game seems much better to me now. I mean I always liked the game but when I was playing it last night it felt like the F-Zero I always wanted. And I've always wanted to have F-Zero GX on a handheld. So I grabbed the switch out of the dock and raced a cup and it was perfect.
This game is like, as big as Mario Kart 8 was on Wii U. And looks just as good, if not better, but costs way less. It looks better than it did on Wii U. Those little tricks they were using to make it look good... they're no longer necessary.
You guys need to check this game out. This is the closest thing to F-Zero I have ever experienced, and on that handheld is a dream.
@Desy64 I have had issues playing online myself so you aren't alone. Though I should try again. I can't just be playing Zelda non stop
Got his game yesterday and it's a blast! Feels like F Zero in a way but unique.
Lovin it so far. Keep up the good work!
@Beedle
I'd go with SnipperClips unless one of the kids loves teh racing. Great launch title to play up local multiplayer. Our family has a blast with it. That said, I'd save up for this one too. That's what I'm doing.
This game is an absolutely must for the launch of the nintendo switch. A great triple a feeling futuristic racer for a third of what a triple title actually costs. The only downside is that the game is brutally difficult. And its not because im rubbish at the game. I did a race, got all the boost orbs, didnt crash once, hit all the boost pads and i still only came third. Thats some broken AI right there. Over than that though its an absolute blast and the nearest we are going to get to having f zero on a Nintendo console again.
This game is even more awesome on Nintendo Switch. Better controls and more forgiving as well.
Really fun and smooth, played it at a friends house, definitely getting one for me
Got the Wii U version plan on getting this as well my first download though will probably be Shovel Knight Treasure Trove great to hear so many good things about Fast though .
Loving it so far! More content updates is only a good thing
I'm going to get this asap. I have been Hooked on these kind of racers since I picked up Lifespeed last week on 3DS. Can't wait to knock heads with some friends online
As soon as I have some money I'm buying it.
Is it just me or is the Fulcon Capital vehicle and its color scheme a reference to everyone's favorite Falcon Puncher?
Fast is fun, but Redout is a lot better.
@Fbigabig - Said no one ever.
I would buy immediately a Physical copy for my collection
This is a really good game. I didn't have the Wii U version, but I haven't played a game similar since F-ZERO GX on Gamecube. This will definitely hold me until Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I initially had buyer's remorse with this one. Forced my self to play in between Zelda ,
Just dance , 12 s and snippet and found my feet with it. A good blast in short bursts. Maybe I'm too old for all that speedy mcreflexfacey.
I've been playing it almost as much as Zelda. It's a beautiful game. I've been in the "give us a new F-Zero game" camp for a while, but now I don't feel like I need one.
I already own the Wii U version and the DLC...but I bought Fast RMX on the Switch anyway.
I am so proud of my choice. Even if the number of new tracks is a little bit low, the fact that all the graphical tricks from the Wii U version, now gone because they are not necessary anymore, make a hell of a difference, they make the returning tracks almost feel new.
Just compare play the Wii U version on the gamepad, and then play the equivalent track on the Switch screen (handheld mode), it is a huge step forward.
@Marshi Even though I'm still warming up to the controls, I have to agree that it has been pretty brutal(even if fun), haha. I have managed to come in 1st one time though! xD
I love this game at any rate.
Does this game have a mini map to show where all racers are on the track?
It really bothered me that the WiiU version didn't.
@getyourak: It does! And the Wii U got a mini map with an update, though I don't remember if it show where the other racers are (as RMX does!)
I beat subsonic and really am ready to continue onward. The ships control a lot better (except for my beloved Fulcon Capital, which seems to have lost all handling). The competition has definely been nerfed. You can actually crash and (1) not immediately fall to 10th and (2) ultimately win. Kudos to Shin'en for another brilliant Fast Racing game.
are there enough people playing online to make it worth the buy? Thanks!
@yuwarite In YOUR opinion. I have Redout on PC, and to me, FAST RMX is a much smoother, more pleasing to the eye, and better AI configured game. They have tightened the controls, added in HDR and Camera Flare/specle. Add extra tracks, more vehicles, and the fact it runs at rock solid 1080p 60FPS even when in 4 player split screen. Redout is much more a clone of Wipeout. Shinen did the right thing by not having weapons, the switch pads/boosters, and as a LAUNCH title, they are only going to get better.
i have legend of zelda but i haven't played it yet. fast racing rmx is the only game i've played so far on my switch. it's a luv/hate thing with rage quits and championship podiums. i haven't even played shovel knight yet on it.
i wonder what shin'en will do next? they went from sci-fi, twin stick, mario galaxy-influenced shooter; to sci-fi hovercar racing; loaded with action in both titles. sci-fi futurism is their thing, with heavy syd mead influence, it seems. can't go wrong there.
@VR32F1END Local split screen for up to four people at 1080p 60fps 😉
@NintySnesMan absolutely agree, they could of just re-skinned this one and job done. They actually had F-Zero DLC planned for the wiiu version but Nintendo pulled out on the deal. this led me to think hmmm is this because we are gonna get an F-Zero.
is this an e-shop download game only or can you buy a physical copy?
@Scamp e shop only...
@fastharryDOTcom thanks I thought so, nevermind, I prefer physical myself, but do download some e-shop stuff if it's e-shop only and i really want it.
@Scamp me as well...just waiting on someone to tell me if MP is any good or there are enough players playing on-line....Thanks, Enjoy your switch...Hit me up for some RMX racing and eventually MK8..GT: fastharry
At the end, this game came out in a physical edition for Wii U.
When they feel they have beefed it up sufficiently for Switch, maybe there will also be a physical release? There still are a lot of elitists around that won't consider a great title like this a proper and worthwhile "game" until they can get it in a box.
@AlexOlney
Thank you Alex, you are indeed a lovely person. I'm at my old address waiting for my Switch to arrive by UPS as we speak.
@aaronsullivan I got it yesterday! RMX was mostly for me. I want it. But I can't be so selfish. Have to think about the children!
@akaDv8R Redout doesn't have weapons either. And what makes Redout the better game to me is the use of the right analog stick for strafing and controlling the craft's pitch. It adds a new layer of strategy and more of a realistic feel to the racing. Additionally I prefer Redout's soundtrack and the graphics of the courses are more detailed. I look forward to getting Redout on Switch; playing it on the go with headphones is going to be awesome.
