Re: iFixit Performs A Full Teardown Of Nintendo's "P**s-Poor" Pro Controller

@Cry_Zero You’re 100% sure because you have no idea what you’re talking about. And now you’re running with it. The fact you’re even talking about “only playing on Nintendo consoles” tells me you’re not even talking on the same level. I own everything that has ever existed from the Magnavox Oddysey to the Switch 2. I have worked for Nintendo’s competitors as an engineer…. Where in this article does it claim that Nintendo has less technology in the controller, by the way? That is in regard to the price of the controller, which isn’t mentioned by anyone but you…

Even at the most basic level, neither standard controller from Microsoft nor Sony has programmable back buttons. Neither are using NFC radios and antennae. Even iFixit misses technology upgrades in the controller that actually make it more repairable in their goal to quickly declare everything is garbage. Almost as quickly as you determine you know more than someone else so you can make stupid comments.

@Cry_Zero Nintendo has been building handhelds for nearly 50 years, their durability has been untouchable. Even their home consoles could handle being dropped from two story buildings and still function. This concept of repairability over durability is simply backwards...but to claim they are the worst tells me you have very, very little experience with their competitors.

@TenEighty You make zero sense. I’m focused on you claiming this device is overpriced without any bill of materials…and you’re already developing conspiracy theories around it. Someone’s missing a picture, that’s for sure.

FYI, making movies and theme parks means they have even more funding for anything else. But that’s not how any of this works anyway…

Re: Yakuza 0 Comparison Video May Give Switch 2 The Edge Over PS4

@TenEighty Not only did I build PC's, I went on to work for the biggest tech companies in the world with that as a launching point. You're completely confused about what made those Sempron processors cheap. They were more powerful chips that were "binned" or they were Athlon processors that were defective in some way that could be reused as a lower priced processor. You're also confusing power consumption here - they consumed less power because they weren't fully utilizing the space on the chip, generating less heat.

A mobile processor uses less power in a number of ways that make them more expensive - such as having big LITTLE cores, powerful ones for burst processes and less powerful ones to "keep the lights on" - which requires more cores. They are cast with a smaller die size using a smaller process...which is even more expensive.

You're also missing a number of other factors that make a Switch 2 more expensive than a traditional console. It needs a screen, it needs a battery, the controller design is actually more robust than Xbox or PS - even the original Switch controllers used more sensors. It also needs a dock.

Really, you're missing so much that you should probably spend less time arguing with people about it and more time understanding it.

@Jeronan I would expect a handheld to cost more than a console, it's more expensive to build from the outset. Then add the dock. At 10 euros more, not sure what there is to complain about. Nintendo's controllers have more components and features, they're going to be more expensive.

As far as game prices go, only games with added functionality beyond a 4k upgrade cost $20. Some are free with Nintendo Online, Sony charges far more for PS+ to get similar results. It definitely sucks seeing game prices go up, Nintendo won't be the only one.

Re: Hades II Will Officially Launch On Switch 2 & Switch Ahead Of Other Consoles

@hbkay It's the roguelite part of the game that makes it better than just some random hack and slash. Every run is different, you might die early on, you might completely break the game, and you will unlock something more for beating it to use next time. I know someone who plays a roguelike/roguelite until beating it once and claiming that was it, they're done. When you've beaten Hades, you're maybe 1% of the way through.

Re: Nintendo Confirms US Price For 'Switch 2 Welcome Tour'

@jesse_dylan What in the world does how the game runs have to do with any of this? I'm referring to doing exactly what Sony is doing as a company with pricing, not what a PS5 is doing to run a game... Having something run natively does not make it inherently different than having a translation layer. Your PS4 game doesn't get enhanced on a PS5, it just runs better...unless you pay for an upgrade.

@Ulysses TOTK and BOTW have new features. They might be pointless to you and me but having voice actors come in and developing an app aren't just upgrades to framerate and resolution. We will see what happens with Pokemon, even those Zelda games don't list the enhancements.

Doesn't really matter if you consider them to be anything...Sony would charge you $10 for absolutely nothing more. The whining over something that's actually free with your Nintendo Online subscription is also pushing it.

Re: Nintendo Confirms US Price For 'Switch 2 Welcome Tour'

@jesse_dylan It's doing exactly what the PS5 does with enhanced backward compatibility. You have to pay for it just the same. And games that need it but do not add new features have free downloads to recompile the shaders and run Switch games better than previous.

Re: Nintendo Alarmo Update Adds Multiple Highly-Requested Features

@SuperRetroArt It's more of a smart alarm clock than just some regular alarm clock. Considering this is something I use every single day, it's absolutely one of the least frivolous things I've purchased.

You're posting on a site devoted to reviewing and discussing digital games, and you think an alarm clock is the sign of capitalism reaching its peak? Have you considered what the average gamer spends on intangible software every year? If there will be a revolution, don't expect new video games.

@Keman Typically, new consoles are announced long before they go into production. Nintendo is having the same problems that Apple has keeping each iPhone secret once production starts. So yeah, it's the first time we've seen this happen other than the last Switch.
