@AstraeaV Adding cores to this is now as simple as running a single script that grabs every core available and puts them on your SD card. Boot the system, run those cores, and you're done. Technically, there isn't any modding or jailbreaking needed as these cores run under an FPGA development application built into the system.
@Ryu_Niiyama Analogue's first console is an NES. This will not accept NES cartridges and I can't imagine adding that as an NES cartridge is bigger than the entire handheld.
@sword_9mm It's not emulation, and no FPGA cores have been created yet that can go beyond the Neo Geo, no matter what the RAM size. You can certainly find a device that can emulate a PS2 on the go, but you will have all of the limitations that come with emulation when it comes to input latency and truly accurate reproduction of the games.
Honestly, FPGA doesn't need to ever go beyond where it is now. 3D games age poorly as it is, so those early 3D generation games are better off being remastered for modern systems.
@Hck They're still as accurate with the ROMs, provided the games don't require addon chips. The very same people who designed these consoles are the ones who open them up to play downloaded ROMs, this was always their intention but they can't outright say it.
@Moistnado Sony has barely had a service like that for 3 months. I pay for all the services on all the platforms, the Switch is a pittance by comparison to what I spend on the other two.
@Vyacheslav333 Not sure what the laughing is about, Switch will be the only version with online multiplayer. Backwards compatibility with a disc based system that uses a vastly different architecture than the Switch is nearly impossible...this is the first time in a very long time that a Nintendo system hasn't been backwards compatible, especially for handhelds.
@ChakraStomps Yeah, throwing in DLSS will be a massive game changer for everything on Switch, even old games. XSX and PS5 can both do it but I'm wondering what the hold up is.
@Anti-Matter I believe Nintendo will be a lot more cautious about using new names AND using the same name. The Wii U taught them that you need to better define that something is a new generation. However, giving it a totally new name will confuse buyers into thinking it's a completely new type of platform. It's not always useful to expect anything will ever repeat itself just because it already has.
@BloodNinja Skyrim was running at 720p on your PS3, 900p on the Switch. And the Switch version has a more stable framerate. In terms of raw performance, the Switch is about 1.5x as powerful as a PS3 and has a lot more RAM.
@NintendoKnight The Switch 2 will practically be exactly what you're describing. Just with more than a simple spec boost - also a design change. Much like a PS5 or XSX, the next generation will simply be a better version of the same thing.
@Deady Here's the problem, it's not an adaptation and it was never meant to be. It's another branching story coming off the first two games - but since so many people don't seem to have actually watched or understood that because the callbacks were few and far between, it flew right past them.
@UltimateOtaku91 Activision didn't even own Blizzard until they bought Vivendi. Vivendi didn't own Blizzard until they bought their publisher before that. These things snowball.
Sony threw its money around in other ways to get every third party on their systems in the 90's. That went a long way for them.
@Axelay71 You just described how Sony even entered the gaming industry. They threw money around and paid off third parties, going so far as buying sports cars and houses for certain developers to make it happen. Every single AAA game Sony creates is by someone they bought...live by the sword, die by the sword
@FragRed Putting in an offer over $70 billion? Very few companies could pull that off and the ones that could do not have the experience to run a gaming division. As far as a monopoly, I doubt that would fly. Even if MS was the only western publisher in all of gaming and ran it like slave owners, it would probably still be better for the gaming studios involved than Activision.
@SalvorHardin I'm using a 3DS case created by this same company for my pocket - it's a perfect fit. Otherwise, the Pocket is everything it was promised, the ultimate portable retro system and puts literally everything on the market to shame.

Re: You Can Now Play NES Games On The Analogue Pocket
@Duffman92 These aren't emulators, to be clear. The Pocket included the extra FPGA core so that things like this could be done.
But yeah, who cares what someone else is using it for? It's nobody's business.

@Moistnado Expensive subscription? It's the cheapest subscription on any platform.
Re: Rare On GoldenEye 007's Return: "We Just Kept Talking Until We Made It Happen"
Seems to me that, after this long, it made no difference that you were talking at all.

Re: Netflix Cancels Resident Evil Series After First Season
@Severian It's a clone of Wesker, one of many. Another Umbrella experiment.
Re: Netflix Cancels Resident Evil Series After First Season
@earthinheritor They had fast zombies because it was a different mutation, I believe.
Re: Netflix Cancels Resident Evil Series After First Season
@WhiteTrashGuy Exactly, the movies were horrible in comparison to this. Not that this was great, but people just don't seem to grasp what it was.

@Croz My 3DS XL case from Waterfield perfectly fits the Analogue Pocket so I'd imagine it would work.

Re: The Inside Of WaterField's $49 Analogue Pocket Pouch Is "As Soft As A Puppy’s Ear"
@Chunkboi79 I have no idea how someone would replace these screens. They're a higher DPI than any smartphone ever made and a shape that nobody uses.

Re: Analogue Pocket Is Getting Its Own OS - Allowing Users To Explore, Discover And Preserve Video Game History
@Specter_of-the_OLED Nowhere has anyone said this was related to a delay. In fact, it's been said repeatedly that the delay is due to manufacturing.
