@Ralizah@FishyS I've been working with a wishlist instead of a backlog. And the strict rule of only buying at 50% off or more, in every case where that is probably going to happen, and setting certain price points for certain games as well. Often under €10 or even €5. Physical games have different 'rules'. Little Nightmares 2 for example, I just really wanted that physical collector's edition, first party Nintendo I often find cheaper physically than digitally with a bit of patience.
And even then, when looking for a new game, I check Deku Deals first for the lowest prices and see if there's anything interesting. Found many gems that way for less than €5, avoided many €20 or even 50+ disappointments. But I STILL end up with more games than I play/finish... at least now they didn't cost me an arm and a leg.
@Shambo I mostly buy good sales from my wishlist too and also use the Deku Deals website. It's rare I want a game so much I buy at full price. But inevitably some 50 percent off games I buy show up later as 85 percent off. 😝
It just goes to show that the 'Switch Tax' only applies if you absolutely have to get the game right away, regardless of price. If you wait and watch for sales on the eshop and at retail... or pick them up for $10 less at Walmart in the states (not to mention Walmarts random and odd clearances), you'll save yourself a lot of money. This is a pretty damn good sale.
@Tsusasi yeah, plenty of Switch games go on sale with discounts that are about on par with PS and Xbox. It's just the first-party games that have less frequent (and steep) sales.
I see a lot of people have been running into the same issue that I have. I try to set a rule that a digital game needs to be under $10 or 50% off, whichever applies to the specific game I wish listed. The hardest part is the patience needed. In the meantime I just played what I haven't beaten, and when the time is right, I add a game to my backlog... Hopefully it is the next thing I want to play but it doesn't always work out that way
I am watching One Piece, so I snagged Pirate Warriors 3 and World Red. I already had Warriors 4 physical so... I'll play it in a couple months when I finish the anime.
@FishyS I guess that's why the eshop hides the sale price and percentage of games you already purchased, to avoid that negative feeling preventing you from spending... Another tip would be to check the price history on DD. If it goes on sale every two months, slowly decreasing in price, just wait. It can only become a better game over time with patches, at a lower price, not worse (at least it shouldn't),and unless it's a special sale, the prices will most likely not go up again when on sale.
It's like haggling, but you just wait quietly until they beg you to buy it.
@FishyS I was guilty of this very thing. After finding tlou2 and persona strikers(switch) still wrapped in plastic, I vowed to keep my release day purchases to a minimum. Basically multiplayer game's I don't want to be left behind in, ie bf2042(maybe), elden ring(wasn't ever able to experience dark souls multiplayer, always late to the party), are day one. The singleplayer titles I'll wait for a sale.

The pain when you buy a game, don't get around to playing it and then see a sale which is 15 dollars less. 😖
@FishyS Feel you there. It's why it's best to just not buy games until you're actually read to sit down and play them.
I got Taiko no Tatsujin for $9.99 and Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 for $5.99 months ago, great games, I definitely recommend them.
If only Nintendo games had the same discounts...

Why didn’t they put dark souls on sale?

Been keeping my eye on Taiko no Tatsujin for a while! Great price for it.
@Jkr they do, only not so often.

I decided to pick up Taiko No Tatsujin and I've been having a great time with it. It's an absolute deal

DBZ World Missions? Is that a buy card game?
Tales of Vesperia, one day I'll get you... Probably this winter! 😂🤣

Also school is very boring so thanks nintedo lif3
I get the impression Dragon Ball Fighterz is perpetually on sale. I already picked it up awhile ago in any case.
Namco Museum vol.1 is also great. It has that awesome Splatterhouse Famicom game.
DBZK Is going to be on the next sale, just watch.
Katamari is very much worth picking up if you don’t have it.
I got fatal bullet and been enjoying it. Such a fun shoot out despite its flaws.
