Re: Nintendo Download: 26th April (North America)

Is it possible for you guys to actually tell us at least what genre a games is? Best example I can give this week is Sparkle ZERO: I don't care about whale facts. I'd like to know what kind of game it is. I can read bad game descriptions on the eShop. At least there I (usually) have a video I can watch to get an idea of what the game is.

Re: Death Road To Canada Delayed Following The Recent Attack In Toronto

GumbyX84

@ogo79 The death of 10 people is a big deal. While it sucks game won't be released when they said they would, there is a good reason behind it. Just like you think it's no big deal, there are people who would attack them for releasing it for being so insensitive. Then there are people like me who understand whatever they did and not complain about it

Re: Nintendo Has Detailed The USB Cables You Can Use To Safely Charge Your Switch

GumbyX84

Sounds like any USB-C cable (A-C or C-C) should be good if it meets the USB-C standard. I suggest reviewing this spreadsheet for a list of cable manufacturers that meet the standard:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wJwqv3rTNmORXz-XJsQaXK1dl8I91V4-eP_sfNVNzbA/htmlview#

I also recommend checking reviews of cables on Amazon by Bensen Leung. He works for Google and has tested many USB-C cables to see if they are complaint after having one of his device get fried by a bad cable

Re: Pokémon's Ash And Gary Are Getting The Nendoroid Treatment

GumbyX84

I don't get why a simple change can't be made. If the author actually read the names of the characters on the item description and/or box he would have seen the names of the characters. He assumed it they were Ash and Gary. After someone pointed it out, he defending himself and decided to be snide to the commenters who tried to correct him. Seems petty to me and the arguments used to argue against the commenters are weak at best. One of the default names you can choose in the games are "Ash" and "Gary" so that automatically makes him right? That is the best "reason" you can come up with? That you didn't even think of yourself?

Someone doesn't like that they were corrected by the commenters (some who I will admit were very rude about it), so he decided to get up on his high horse and use lame excuses to prove he is right and everyone else is wrong. Poor form. Stuff like this (the editors not taking criticism like a professional) casts a bad light on the site and writing staff.

Re: First Impressions: Our Maiden Flight In Star Fox Zero Prompts Mixed Emotions

GumbyX84

@kyuubikid213 I was thinking the same thing.

Wow... just wow. I didn't think everyone would be so negative towards Nintendo. I swear people are having "Duke Nukem Forever" syndrome: The game doesn't live up to the hype that everyone built up for it. It doesn't mean it will be a horrible game. I'm excited for the new Star Fox. The graphics look good to me and the gameplay changes look fun. They will probably allow players to change some of the controls to something more familiar (like they did in Star Fox 64) and the gyro controls can probably be disabled. So please stop all the doom and gloom. Keep your expectations in check and leave the fanboy-ism at the door.

Re: Capcom Announces Monster Hunter Stories for 3DS

GumbyX84

This looks interesting. I don't know why, but it feels like Dragon Warrior Monster (the originals) where they took a bit light-hearted tone. Loving the art style. Here's hoping we can see some gameplay footage sometime in the next few months.

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate April DLC Available Now, Featuring Sonic Palico Gear

GumbyX84

Is the March DLC still available for download like they did with Dead or Alive? I haven't picked up Monster Hunter 4 due to moneis, but will thrown down for it if it means I will miss out on all the DLC.

Edit: Found my answer on the Capcom Unity blog (http://www.capcom-unity.com/dubindoh/blog/2015/04/02/monster-hunter-4-ultimate-free-dlc-line-up-for-april). It says the March DLC pack is still up but doesn't say for how long. I'm assuming it's for good but I'm probably going to break down and grab the game this weekend just to be safe.

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th November (North America)

Super Mario Advance isn't just a port of SMB2/SMB:USA on Mario All-Star. It actually has a lot of updates from the All-Star remake including red coin hunt, added graphical effects, and other little surprises mixed in. After looking into reviews of the game and watching parts of an LP of it, I really missed out not getting SMA. SMB2 is one of my favorite games as I used to play it like crazy as a kid. I have a feeling I will be grabbing it sometime soon.

Re: More PDP GameCube-Style Wired Fight Pads Pay Homage to Donkey Kong, Link, Samus and Wario

GumbyX84

I was able to test one out at the Gamestop on the mall I work at and have to say the build quality is actually really nice. Solid construction and doesn't feel cheap. However, the left analog stick is taller than I'm used to and doesn't feel comfortable for me. Not sure what I'm going to do now as I'm not sure if the Hori pads have the same problem and I can't easily buy one and return it if I don't like it.

Re: Video: Evolution And Biking Shown In Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

GumbyX84

@DarkKirby They are different bikes like they were in the original games according to Bulbapedia ,which backs it up with official artwork for the game. The footage at the end of the video is of the Mach Bike going up the mud slope. The article incorrectly states it was the Aero Bike, which cannot go up slopes due to being slower than the Mach Bike.

Re: The Club Nintendo Reward Details Are In For August

GumbyX84

And I lost my chance at Paper Mario. Yay for forgetfulness. Star Fox 64 is the only thing that looks good on this month and I already own the original and 3DS remake, I'd set.

PS There are physical rewards, but only five: two sets of greeting cards ( Mario & Luigi and Nintendogs), Epic Yarn patches, and two Animal Crossing items (a poster and a reversible carrying 3DS pouch). The others have been removed outright or are out of stock.

Re: Hardware Review: Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio & Super Retro Advance Adapter

GumbyX84

While I love my RetroDue (it's what got me back into retro gaming), I'm going to hold off on this until the RetroN5. I didn't know it ran on Android OS. This means we shouldn't have the same compatibility issues as we do with repo consoles. Looking at you Battletoads.

I do have one question I hope gets answered in the Super Retro Advance Adapter review: Will it only play GBA games or will GBC games work as well? To my knowledge we don't have a way to play GBC games on a TV yet.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Is Getting The Live-Action Movie Treatment

GumbyX84

@Zobocop Was just about to post that. Suprised no one else noticed it. Maybe we're reading too into it or it was a mis-quote. If you look at Go-Nintnedo's article, you see an ellipsis after "We don’t have the rights to Mega Man, obviously, but we are working with him on a live action adaptation of it"

"The developers aim to hit their $95,000 target before March 11th, but should they continue to receive donations after the target has been met, there’s a chance the game could come to Wii U and 3DS."

Yes. A release of your totally "original" game on Nintendo p
latforms.... Any guess how long it will be until they get a cease and desist?

Re: Review: Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! (Wii U)

GumbyX84

I just played the PS3 version of the game (Gamefly sent me that instead of the Wii U version) and while I agree that it can get a bit boring at times, I still don't think it's as bad as reviewers are making it out to be. Gauntlet and Champions of Norrath got great reviews back in day and are still considered great games today. They play exactly like this. I don't understand how those can be so great and this so bad.

All that withstanding, game should be $40 at a max.

Re: Review: Power Rangers Megaforce (3DS)

GumbyX84

@CountWavula First off, leave the rose colored glasses at the door. While I love MMPR and Power Rangers in general, I cannot say that MMPR is the "best series EVER". Much like any season in any series, it had its faults. Megaforce definetly has its problems, but some of them can be looked past just like those in the original series.

Sorry for getting off topic, but it annoys me when fanboys start whining. I didn't expect this game to be that great, thought I didn't expect it to be that bad. I have it in my Gamefly Queue so I'll come to my own conclusion once I give it a try. While it might be bad, I don't think it can be as bad as Power Rangers Super Legends. Oh dear GOD the megazord battles >.<

PS Jason not best Red Ranger. Tommy is. Followed by Andros.

Re: Pokémon Bank Pricing Emerges For Europe

GumbyX84

I know people are sating that $5 is nothing and people who complain shouldn't be, but you guys need to keep something in mind. Having cloud storage for your pokemon is fine, but transferring Pokemon from the previous gen to the current should be free. IMO Nintendo's reason for not having a local transfer app is bull.

" Why can't I Link Trade Pokémon between Pokémon X or Pokémon Y and past Pokémon titles?

Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, and Pokémon White 2 were developed to be compatible with the Nintendo DSi system, while Pokémon X and Pokémon Y were developed exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Due to differences in the functionality and specifications of the two families, including their communications systems, it is not possible to carry out communications directly between software designed for the two different families."

If this is true, then how is it possible to transfer Pokemon from Dream Radar, a 3DS game, to the Gen 5 games, which are DS games? With an SD card being included with every 3DS to date, there is no need for two systems as Pokemon can saved to the SD card before being transfered to X/Y. If they are concerned with cheating or duplication, limit how many Pokemon can be transferred at once so the internal memory of the 3DS can be used.

Re: The Pokémon Company Lays Down The Law On Cheaters

GumbyX84

@SonataAndante THIS. I have only hacked for EVs, moves, and levels. I breed for IVs and shinies (if so desired) and all my movesets are legal. I do this so I can enjoy the game in friendly tournament play and in-game without a lot of grinding, which isn't fun and feels like a waste of time to me. While I understand many people have faced cheaters that have ruined the online game for them, some of us do things within the rules. I cheat "legally". Take that as you will. 9 out of 10 I won't be able to do this in Gen 6, but thankfully Nintendo and Game Freak have decided to make EVs a lot easier to track and gain so I probably won't have to worry about it.
