A shame governments have to FORCE companies to not sell people electronics designed to die and be rebought now. Definitely one of the big + of having an Ally is how easily you can replace the thumbsticks, hard drive, add or swap ram, switch batteries etc etc .
I recently played through all 3 Tomb raider reboots on my handheld and it was an interesting experience.
First game is peak. Second one is also really good. By the third game, you've got yellow paint on every ledge and Lara going "I need to do this to do this" every five seconds when you use her detective mode thing. Got to see a series crumble before my eyes as they catered to the modern audience. Still a good game, the ending is one of the most 'absolute cinema' moments ive had in decades of gaming, but it really devolved.
I have little faith this won't cater heavy towards the later as well unfortunately.
Does the game even have enough characters to fill out a racing roster? I only played one of the a little bit so I hate no clue, but seems like they'd have to be tossing in bosses and random enemies to get any sort of decent character selection going.
Saying it runs "good enough" on the brand new console that is supposed to go on another 5 years should be kind of worrying. I can only imagine the Unreal 6 engine games...
Its alright, im just not into wander around aimlessly types of games anymore.
And look, it was fun mapping out every zone in Zelda 1 with my dad on paper 30+ years ago. I dont want to do that for this games very overly cluttered screens. So ill be waiting for some mods to add maps. Ain't nobody got time for that.
@PixelTavern Modifiers also turn off achievements, which I know doesnt matter here, but it'll probably be why this game will eventually drop to Mostly or Very Positive on Steam.
The real gamers are laughing at how bad it is. The driving sequences can be played and completed without failure by holding....one button. Gaming in 2026 folks.
$70 for 17 hours with zero replayability ain't it.
I guess they're going fully away from any semblance of realism with this one or just more dumbing down for the general audience who might not understand you cant hold fire and expect bullets to all hit exactly where you aim..until now at least.
"every detour remain in the player’s memory".. for me, not so much...
I know I had the first one on Dreamcast but all I can remember about it is buying some little collectibles from the little gumball vending machines on the streets. Like thats it, full stop, complete blank on everything but those gacha machines.
Cool it doesnt require online when even brand new overpriced games require it to even play a single player game (007 slop).
@Whirlwound Do you pass on every game that has a demo available? Thats all this is. Then you BUY the game for $8. Man, when did simple reasoning go out of the window in favorof hate/love relationships with buzzwords?
I played through quite a bit of Witcher on my Switch and was surprised how well it ran but never finished it. Picked it up for my handheld PC a couple weeks ago and its a whole new experience in the forests and whatnot. Forgot how horrible the horse controls are though lol. If it can run on an old Switch, im sure they've got a version in the works for 2 though, such easy money for them.
Im guessing this will be $20 so I dont see myself paying twice what I did for the complete addition for some DLC though, unless you play as Yennifer and can go around witch-nuking people.
Kinda stinks this is all Switch owners ever get for free, this one shovelware company. Think I got 20 or so games from them over the years and maybe spent a total of two hours playing them.
PC got Tomb Raider Remaster 1-3 and Down in Bermuda from Epic plus a Warhammer game on Steam for free this week. Although Epics weekly free games are usually trash (so many 'free' online games that have nobody playing them still...gee thanks, what a gift lol) and also im weary of any cheaply made looking game that goes on sale for free on Steam as there have been cases of developers being hacked and having updates to their games pushed through Steam with malware and whatnot added.
Ive been playing this recently and im mixed. Its gorgeous, has its moments, and is DmC.
But man, playing as V is bad, I never feel like im actually controlling anything. The boss battles are pretty bad too. Think after I finish my Vergil run ill be done, dont see myself grinding achievements on harder difficulties.
Definitely worth it for the $5 I paid on Steam, but for a full $60+ theyll push for this? I dunno about that.
Why Did You Capitalize Every Word In The Headline?
That Was A Confusing Read.
@BrazillianCara Its the worst of the worst. Baby's first game engine. Pragmata would be struggling to hit 30fps if they used UE and not the much superior RE engine.
I like my games to look like video games, even realistic ones. Ive been playing Devil may Cry 5 and to me, thats peak graphics. Like when they talk it looks a little weird. I like that.
I think needing to use your brain to fill in gaps is something people will never get back and thats a shame. Like there's a joke or meme about how we imagined Ocarina of Time looking as good as a new AAA titles do now when it came out, and honestly, it really did, because we used our subconscious brain power to upscale it and whatnot on the fly using our imagination RAM. Now everything since Crysis came out has to be compared and nitpicked on if it looks "better".
Video games are about escapism, more now than ever. Forget that AI is replacing everyone, forget the end is nigh and go visit a different world you have more control over. But a lot of that escapsim is lost when everything needs to look as HD as the room you see when your eyes leave the screen. Plus, how creepy would The Sims be if they looked like real people?
Im just impressed they've made 12 games since I was a kid and not a single one of them caught my attention despite being a big RPG fan and loving dragons..and quests.
Just something about the character design and the kiddy presentation that keeps turning me off the franchise, even as a kid.
All I know is the system requirement jump from Integrade to Rebirth is ridiculous considering they look identical. I don't know what engine they use, but it sure isnt as refined as the RE engine, thats for sure.
At least it isnt DLSS5, where it changes the entire look of games to give it that uncanny AI glossy plastic fake look that we all just love so so so much.
@solarwolf07 Do the Ally and Steamdeck not exist to you? Thats not hundreds more (actually only 100 more) and they both can handle it fine. Thats not even mentioning being able to use stuff like Lossless Scaling that can easily double your fps in any game without any noticeable input lag.
First a boy and now a girl huh? Some certain folks wont like that, not one bit.
There's just too many 2d games around for me to ever play one that looks like its from the SNES era now, I did all that 30 years ago. Once you play something like Replaced, hard to look at basic sprites and still feel impressed.

Modern gaming, my friends, rejoice!

Dont you need actual games to sell a console? At the same price point as a handheld PC, that seems like overkill.
@timp29 We wont be playing along this time, so thats a moot point. I mean, any of us free people wont, at least.
