Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Hey! Pikmin

FawfulDX

@Not_Soos Yeah, complaining about Hey! Pikmin is kinda my old man schtick, but I don’t actually hate it. It’s fine for what it is, as a 2D side scroller with light puzzle elements, and it does have many enjoyable elements. It’s just that it has so little of what makes Pikmin so, so special to me. It is a good game, but to me it does not feel like a Pikmin game.

Re: Miyamoto And Avi Arad Have Been Discussing The Zelda Movie For A Decade

FawfulDX

Well, there was that picture of Miyamoto and Arad together that leaked almost 10 years ago in the Sony email leaks, and that’s what first came to my mind when I heard how long they’ve been working on the film. Nintendo has been talking with Sony and Arad for a long time now.

There’s no evidence to back this up, but I assume that that everything before this announcement was negotiations and pre-pre-announcements, perhaps accelerated by the Mario movie’s success.

Re: Feature: Pikmin Bloom Devs On The Joy Of "Human Connection" And The Absence Of Bulborbs

FawfulDX

I love Bloom, that little glorified and gamified pedometer, but with each step forward it has taken in its updates, it seems it always has to take a step backwards, as well.

The interview mentioned the changes to Mushroom Battles and Special Event Decor Pikmin, both of which were changes for the worse. I love you, Pikmin Bloom, but at the end of the day a mobile game will always be just that: a mobile game.

Re: Fans Uncover And Recreate Pikmin 3's Scrapped Story Mode Area

FawfulDX

This is a really excellent recreation. I wonder if this was planned for the game or if it was just thrown together for the E3 presentation just like that area in the original game. With both this and the recent interview, we are getting much more knowledge of the development of the series, and I am always up for learning development history!

Re: Review: Pikmin 4 - Relaxed, Refined Real-Time Strategy, Ready To Crack The Mainstream

FawfulDX

This game is looking to be even meatier than Pikmin 2, and, though the difficulty seems to be next to nonexistent for the sake of newcomers, I really appreciate all of the elements that mesh so very well with the Pikmin experience. A hub and upgrades are not new ideas by any means, but they are ideas that are new to Pikmin, and they fit rather well.

The decade of waiting will have been worth it! It may not unseat Pikmin 2 as my favorite, but it going to be one fantastic time!

Re: Feature: Pikmin Tier List - Which Pikmin Type Is The Best?

FawfulDX

Why would anyone put Red Pikmin so low? That is a bit confusing, as they are the best fighters besides Purples…huh…

I wonder whether Purple Pikmin in 4 will be just as nerfed as in 3. I appreciate the balancing, but there’s simply something to be said for being able to wipe out a Burrowing Snagret in just a few seconds.

Re: Pikmin 4 Will 'Rise To The Occasion' In Brand New Trailer

FawfulDX

Let's go! It's almost a month away, and I cannot contain my excitement. Pikmin may be niche series, but it is also a special series for me! Character customization was never necessary, but it's a nice addition.

(And now I shall go wait for Arlo to make an hour-long video talking about this minute-long trailer!)

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's "Key Theme" Is Hands, Says Developers

FawfulDX

The Imprisoning War? So, Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild take place in the downfall timeline?!

Then again, this "Imprisoning War" could be a completely different one from the one detailed in A Link to the Past. Still, at this point this is the closest lead that we have to the timeline placement of these games...

Of course, in the grand scheme of things, the timeline placement matters little! Tears of the Kingdom is still going to be a masterpiece!

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2023 Pokémon Presents, Then?

FawfulDX

It was honestly…pretty bad…well, actually very bad. Disappointments on many fronts, and pretty poor pacing. (And this is coming from someone who isn’t even a Pokémon fan!) I guess we cannot have a mind blowing Nintendo Direct and a mind-blowing Pokémon Presents in the same month. It would be so mind-blowing that reality as we know it would collapse into oblivion. At least there is going to at long last be a Pokémon game I can play simply by sleeping. That’s a good thing…I think…
