"As a result, just the concept of "Paper Mario, with stickers" is enough to get die-hard Paper Mario fans frothing at the mouth." That isn’t exactly true, to be honest (though the article is still excellent). I do not speak for all fans by far, but for me the appeal in Paper Mario was never the "paper" part of Paper Mario (the first game was, after all, really Mario Story not Paper Mario). Rather, the world was a colorful addition to the great gameplay. No colorful paper aesthetic is ever a proper substitute for the classic simple yet strategic gameplay. I do love the papercraft world, but a great world is nothing without great gameplay, as Sticker Star (and to a slightly lesser extent its successors) shows. Video games need both the game and the video, both the mechanical and the graphical.
Upgrades will no longer cost real money in Pikmin Bloom this month, and Mario Kart Tour will remove its gacha elements next month? All this almost makes up for the death of Dragalia Lost (and Doctor Mario World)...almost…
When he announced he was doing something new a few month ago, I thought it might be something about game-design! It will be wonderful to witness the wisdom of Sakurai-san.
They'll completely shut down the Wii U eShop the day before my birthday? Thanks for the birthday gift, Nintendo. At least I already have most of the Virtual Console titles I wanted...
I've said it before, I'll say it again, get Metroid Prime Trilogy while you still can...
We've waited 1,995 days for Breath of the Wild 2? That's not that many days. I mean, we've waited 3,325 for Pikmin 4...so comparatively it's not that bad...right?
There are quality free-to-play games, but they're not the most common. If I am paying for a game, I am typically confident that there will be at least some level of quality. In addition, free-to-play games are prone to disgusting gacha practices.
The second movie combined Sonic 2 and Sonic 3, and now the third movie will combine Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2? At this rate, they're gonna run out of games to adapt!
Great! So...the usual September schedule is open for a full Direct after Splatoon 3 releases...perhaps with the big reveal of the Untitled Sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Game for the Nintendo Switch Family of Systems Game™...?
Well, this leak shows a decent lineup, though it seems poor Wario Stadium may be left to rot in Mario Kart 64 forever. In addition, it seems we will have to wait quite a bit for Maple Treeway, but at least we already have Mushroom Gorge.
"Mario! And Luigi, too!" How does Bowser know Luigi's name? It would be more accurate if Bowser called him "greenie" or the like. Still, excellent spritework. A original game on GBA would have been nice, but at the same time the Advance series of remakes was a great way to introduce to the classics to a new generation.
@KindofaBigDeal Then listen to it on mute with close captions (but don't do it if you don't want to; I would never force anyone to watch a puppet against their will).
I did read the article, and my point is that we did the same thing back in 2020, when, for example, they announced Pikmin 3 Deluxe outside of a Direct. We've seen this situation before, and yet Direct's returned. This isn't the first "Direct drought"; similar things have happened in the past.
Overreacting much? Nintendo does not have an E3 Direct when E3 is cancelled, and some start to question whether their day is done? We were doing the same in the Direct Droughts of yesteryear, including back in 2020 when we went over a year without a full Direct, and yet they still returned. Direct's are not done by a long shot, though I think we won't have one until September.

Good point. The Mario multiverse is a maddening place with all its timeline splits, pocket dimensions, and reality warping.
