@PuppyToucher I agree they could just add support anyway, and maybe it does actually work, we don’t know for sure - but I do believe there could be games that would be difficult, given the joycon has extra buttons on the top / side depending on how you hold it.. but as I said, I agree they could just add support anyway rather than block it - and hopefully they will.
@PuppyToucher It’s not that complicated... these mini games require very different control options (ways to hold the controller) as well as differing ways to play per minigame... obviously using the pro controller would make it both hard to use in some of these and also hard to explain each mini-game’s control scheme (and potentially unfair) if people are using different controllers.
@Razer Out of curiosity, do you consider the PS4 controller ‘stupidly overpriced’? It might work for all games but it has 4 hours batt life if you’re lucky, vs 40 hours for the pro. The extra few dollars does get you some value.
@XenoShaun @jtmnm It would be, but they are probably trying to make it an even playing field and there would be mini-games where you hold the controller differently, which would be awkward for the pro.
@SladeWatkins Even for those with fast internet - updates should be designed as a benefit not a hinderance - but instead of allowing devs to give us ‘more’, this ability to update is so often used to just save the devs some testing/time and allow the final users to be the beta teaters even though they payed full price. They just say ‘oh we can release now and just fix all those bugs later. Poor practice if you ask me. So I’m happy whenever a game is released ‘complete’ or as good as it can get reasonably.
I for one, like to see ‘updates’ done, before the game releases.. bring back the old days ‘yall!
@AG_Awesome From what I’ve seen elsewhere, the motion controls are terrible - but I have a feeling that it’s half the point / joke - in that you are absolutely destroying these patients haha.
Seeing as you implied that DOOM is basically the only 'ONE' game from a third party, well..
Just a few off the top of my head -
Dragonball Fighter Z, Wolfenstein (latest), Fortnite, Team Sonic Racing, Fifa19, NBA2K19.. surely you can't say they are OLDER games, they obviously take time to develop / port for a lower powered system lol...oh...
and.. Octopath traveller exclusive from the SE guys themselves and Mario + Rabbids exclusive from Ubi.
there are others but those third party's just popped in to say hi to your comment/rant. Even if they release 30 more, there will still be people who want to complain and troll (so it would seem!).
Meanwhile, while you're complaining, I'm back to having fun playing a bunch of games that the Switch supposedly doesn't have.
@JayJ Yea not every game is going to appeal to everyone I get that sure - I guess what I’m saying is that I’ve been against the idea of making a game easier for those particular people who find it hard, because there are plenty of games that are easy and not all that many (in the racing genre at least) that are both difficult and extremely fun to master once you do manage to work it all out.
When wipeout and F-zero was so difficult at first it’s kind of why it was so satisfying for me to become good at them.
Nothing wrong with adding some kind of beginner / training modes though I suppose.
@JayJ Wipeout was never an easy game either - but it’s partly why it was so great... if you like the idea of it, and it’s well put together, get good at it... a good way to play.
@kopaka @Heavyarms55 Yes it’s a beta, however these days they are often one and the same (a beta and demo). i.e. advertising the game as well as performing additional testing.... and with that said, most final releases these days are unfortunately, still beta tests, as long as they deem it ready enough for the money to roll in.. *rolls eyes.
@EightBitMan You wrote alot. I hope you feel better. I like that my console is handheld and compromises are made for that to happen - but personally, I play Nintendo games with Nintendo products and have a good time.. and that’s about all there is to my thoughts about Nintendo.... You seem to be pretty worked up over a product from a company.
@Hyrule @kurtasbestos - While I DO hear what you’re saying Hyrule, If talking about the profits and perceived value of a company, these particular brokers can know enough to make an educated judgment on whether the value will continue to rise or not.. They won’t be placing 400m shorts without sufficient research and ‘understanding’ of the outputs and inputs related to the company, which in reality, makes up for a part of what goes on in the market... not everything, but enough.
Like I said, I get where you’re coming from but it’s a fair article based on a real activity and given who has made the call and the size of it, the news is interesting (for some!).
7 and 8 have problems. Not disagreeing there. To be honest I enjoyed them but they could have been better for many reasons - But I couldn’t even sit through 1 again... I cringed the whole way through the last time.
Everyone sees things differently so happy for opinion then - but for me, I wanted to like 1 again, and went in trying to be open to it - but I just couldn’t get remotely close.
@John_Deacon I still love Virtua Racing - Music is great too. In car graphics view (plus multiple views), sparks from the scrapes, manual and auto gearbox... it was fantastic and obviously especially high end graphics for MegaDrive (Genesis).
@ThanosReXXX Because you mentioned optimisation issues - and I said, that it shows that games with similar graphics like rmx are possile on even a slower system like the switch - meaning it’s clear that given it runs slow on even the one x (or PS4?) that it doesn’t have to be that way, and that it clearly does have optimisation issues.
@Tibob @PixelStef @OorWullie @steve_1978 @ThanosReXXX @TheBoldman67 The Redout game itself is miles better than RMX (in my opinion) however the one thing that rmx does great is the performance on the switch - Graphically I don’t like all the motion blur and perspective changes to simulate speed boosts but the fact that it runs so well on the Switch, is fantastic. Given the performance of Redout on other platforms it doesn’t look promising, but it does show that similar graphics can be done brilliantly.
@Dom Surely the motion blur requires ‘more’ processing power to display?? this is the case in any game where this is an option on say PC - it uses more power not less.. so I don’t know if that’s been used to improve performance or more just to make it look better.
Meanwhile, is it an option that can be turned off in the menus?
@pbb76 Thanks for that - I had similar problems with NBA playgrounds where it looked very blurry to me.
Interestingly, the one thing that doesn’t get mentioned much with the Switch, is that it seems the built-in upscaling /anti-aliasing is at least really good - you do get the blur which is unavoidable if the res is low, but it’s a smooth look as opposed to giant pixels.
@Dr_Corndog - He does speak english - but meanwhile, the majority of Americans or Australians do not speak fluently in a language that is spoken outside their country or family- in this case, especially true when considering he is famous in his own country also.
Besides, he’s too busy helping create the next Mario, Zelda..... and Wave Race (I can dream) to learn fluent English.
@GKO900 Umm... I own all consoles since 1982... and enjoy Ps4/XB games also... your comment is probably not valid here.. just having an opinion does not imply what you have stated
Like I said - Sega owned Sonic and in the 90’s no one ever would have dreamed of it being on Nintendo - they were actual rivals . All I’m saying is that if the internet comments existed back then, you would have said exactly the same thing back then, but it happened.
@Anti-Matter I like a range of games - but luckily for me there are many different tastes out there because I would not like the Switch to be only kids games.
@MagnaRoader If you went back in time to the nineties or even early 2000’s and told everyone Sonic would be on Nintendo.... We would have all had the same answer.
So... Anything is possible. The future, we know not.
@Anguspuss As they are a business, of course they care about 3rd party because that attracts more people to their console, which then allows them to make more of a profit.
However, Nintendo 1st party games are obviously very strong and make the most profit though, so of course they care about those the most.

@RyanCraddock @TheBigK @Shiryu - Wow.. talk about out of context Ryan - In that interview, he was specifically referring to not being able to pull off ‘all the characters being there’ again. Not the ‘game’ not being continued.
@Hyrule It’s very simple - if they did the right thing in relation to the advertising methods that they used - we would all know about it... last year they pulled this off. They did not unanimously pull this off this year... which is the reason for the comments, articles and to be honest, my own reaction, even though I tried to be optimistic.
I do agree they showed games as you mention.... I don’t believe (just like many others) that they did this well.
In the end, they did well for Smash however.. But they did not hype up the Switch close to what they achieved last year. There’s potentially more to announce however, so my fingers are crossed.
@WiltonRoots There is plenty to play - I’m talking specifically about the way in which they handled the ‘direct’.. neither do I wet the bed. The issue was that it would have been nice to be blown away like last year. It was a highly anticipated event, and would have been smart for Nintendo to ‘capitalise’ on that excitement, which has definetely been quite hard for them to generate in recent years... but they had it, and did not utilise it as much as they could have.

If nothing else they have set a precedent... however the main issue here, is that one way or another people watch the E3 direct for a reason, and that’s to be excited, and motivated by what they see. Nintendo did this last year for sure... so it’s obviously going to be a let down when that doesn’t happen this year, especially when many people thought that last year was the start and that this year would be even better.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Urges Game Developers To Embrace Subscription-Based Services
@kepsux I know - I meant I want more physical - ie less updates and more ‘game is complete and on a cartridge’
Subscription game service is just another step towards incomplete releases and non-physical.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Urges Game Developers To Embrace Subscription-Based Services
Let me know when I can buy physical games complete on a cart, without requiring day-1 updates/fixes... via subscription. I’m good for that.
