@StormtheFrontier If someone is accused of something publicly and without proof... of course they are going to be defensive.. I think anyone would. Is he right or wrong - who knows.. but judging people based purely on accusations and these kind of responses is exactly the kind of negativity we don’t need in the world... but seem to be seeing more and more of it.
@NIN10DOXD I think he might be talking about those specific people - and who knows, maybe they are jealous? Maybe not? The point is that so many people judge by articles without really knowing anything about what really happened... and it happens over and over. I feel bad for anyone ‘accused’ without proof as it just means that as soon as someone says anything about someone, immediately that person is attacked and judged without anyone knowing if it’s true or to what extent it’s true - I’m sure anyone would be very defensive in that situation.
@Ratking Well to be honest, I was buying Sega Master System games in the early Nineties (for example) for around $50 US dollars... and new games for many systems these days are still about $50 - but $50 now is a lot less money than it was back then. So technically everything gaming is cheaper now than it ever was. Just saying (I know it wasn’t your point
So, looking at what I believe was his document of submitted evidence, he didn’t claim they weren’t MAME. The first part of the evidence seems to state that the specific score being used to accuse him was tied to the video in question from the movie where the MAME footage occured, BUT this was not actually the score submission. The video is stated to have been for ‘entertainment purposes only’. The scores he obtained for submission were all publicly viewed but the video in question was not of a submission score. According to what I understand. So, it’s saying that the MAME video, was not in dispute, only that this was never a submission for high score.
@John_Koshiro Yep, fair enough! Was just saying it as there seems to be a lot of this removal or censoring of existing archival content in recent times, purely based on things like Black Lives Matters or individual people’s actions which has made no sense. I know what you’re saying though, all good.
Oh, and no i hadn’t seen the second comment but did now.
@John_Koshiro “had their legacy tainted by revelations about the creator“
The cartoons were good or they weren’t... I’m kind of over this whole social justice ‘remove any media that is now suddenly offensive or linked to anyone who is a problem‘ thing. I can’t watch a good movie that happened to have Kevin Spacey in it because he was accused of things... absolutely crazy.
@Kalmaro Your comment confuses me. Limited run games makes games that are (not surprisingly) limited run. So when people buy from there, it’s been games that are not made in physical copies anywhere else. In this case, it seems another company was also given the contract to make the game alongside limited run. Which defeats the purpose to some extent, of buying the ‘limited run’ game.
@FargusPelagius One thing I didn’t mention is that my experience is mainly with multiplayer and with a few select characters that I play all the time.... so of course the crashes you see could happen in places I don’t normally play.
@Jawessome As a related note (and yes it’s obviously for a reason) but think how amazing it is that Mario 64 is an 8 MEGAbyte game.... I mean, I can barely get a single individual photo out of my camera for that file size that an entire multi hour game is contained in.
But anyway, his main concern would probably be that these days the game file sizes in general are sometimes quite ridiculous. It used to be the case that companies would go to great lengths to reduce file sizes to allow them to fit completely on the media they need to release on (Nintendo first party still have small file sizes but 3rd party games generally don’t for example), but it’s because now the same effort isn’t required (or taken).
Yes the graphics, fmv, audio is larger.. but they are still much larger than they ‘could’ be.
The only real reason it matters to me - is that the lack of effort in that area is a contributing factor as to why they don’t release the whole game on a cart but rather as a download (yes there are also other factors).
@FargusPelagius I have 11 since launch and played on Switch from 1 year in as well as a Switch lite without issue. Crashing could be overheating due to a problem, or could just be a bug with the game that you’re encountering of course, but personally haven’t seen a crash.
@Cyberbotv2 ...Well considering Predator (and Alien) is in Mortal Kombat X , I doubt they’ll bring them across.. but it would be great if they kept the ‘guest’ characters from the previous game... though they wouldn’t really be ‘guests’ if they did.
@elpardo1984 They have an entire game mode (Krypt) dedicated to things to unlock... for free. If that’s what you meant by ‘except lootbox nonsense’... Given the Krypt is an enormous part of the game... it’s a bit of a strange comment to say ‘nothing to unlock’ lol.
@premko1 Personally I think it’s a big stretch to say Mantis Butn Racing is a ‘superior’ anything, as it’s average at best, contrary to the nintendolife review.... but it is definitely an alternative.. Otherwise, gotcha racing.
@mesome713 I don’t know why I’m bothering tbh, but..... why... is it not worth the price when it’s a fully featured kart game with heaps of content.. and they’ve been continuously adding free content since it came out. Please.. do tell why it should be free.. sheesh.
@SilentS Given that these days many many devs release games basically half finished with a reliance on patching... the pre-load could be a pre-load of virtually nothing.. so would not really be a fair way of determining this cut-off. The cut-off should be simple.. When you own the game (after release / full download) you can’t cancel.
@Abes3 It’s definetely not ‘broken’, but it’s also no where near as good as it should be. Other than the fact it was due out around the release of the Switch and the devs gave almost no communication on its status... when it finally has been released, the performance is fine but graphically it varies from very good to very bad at times during a race, and it seems to change at random.
Not to mention that in general, the controls are no where near as good as Wipeout, which is essentially what you would assume it was trying to emulate. Fast RMX is not great, but has ‘some great parts’ such as the graphics, but RMX is still way better than this in my opinion.
I was greatly looking forward to it for literally years and tried to get info from the devs but Purely based on their response (or lack of) I will not be picking up the physical - they already have my money for the very average digital version.
@sanderev Haven’t read who you were originally replying to, but just based on what you wrote in your comment I’ll say this. Given no changes, frame rate and res changes will allow games to run... but in many cases optimisation makes huge differences and it’s just whether the studio want to bother spending the time and money.. On PC, the optimisation phase is relatively minor because it doesn’t need to be catering to low power systems and as a result are not ‘as’ optimised as they could be had the developer wanted to get it to run on say... the Switch. Many devs do nothing in the port stage it would seem, but there are also those who do make big changes during the porting.
@SpacedDuck Depends if the game relies on the graphics.. if it could still be the same game with reduced fidelity, then that’s a quick fix to make it run better, but generally speaking several studios have been doing a lot of work for the Switch to make their games run well, where-as when they came out on Ps4 or PC, they could rely on brute force and not have to be as pedantic with optimisation... and that sometimes showed.
As something that comes to mind, Witcher ran super stuttery / bad frame rate when I got it on PS4 originally. Runs fine on my Switch regardless of the graphics reduction. Just one example that contradicts that thought of yours. There are probably others that are around. Alien Isolation being decent on Ps4 but great on Switch (mainly due to anti-aliasing), but still. It’s about how much effort / money they want to put in to optimisation.
@Kalmaro If that’s the case, seems strange to have bothered not only coming to this article to read it, but then commenting on it as well.. just to say you don’t care about it. Weird.
Asking me to defend some implied ‘dubious actions’ of a public figure, sounds very political. If you don’t think so, that’s fine - but one way or another it’s far off track from what I was saying. There’s a difference between thinking everything a person does is perfect, and simply wanting to keep an eye on what his companies or he is doing to affect our tech / auto / space progress due to his actions in those specific areas.
@NIN10DOXD Why on earth would I need to defend what another person does.. your comment sounds very political. I like progress. His companies are making great progress, and I think that’s a good thing to keep an eye on.
@somebread Actually if you read my comment I didn’t once say I idolised a CEO, I simply gave reasoning behind why people follow him. In addition, if someone was to follow him for the reasons I mentioned, the fact that those reasons are the intention, in itself shows that it’s not ‘blindly’ doing anything, but rather with motives which would seem perfectly acceptable.
@SonOfVon There’s a difference here.. He doesn’t actually want to be rich... he already is one of the richest men alive... he has a vision of what ‘he’ thinks the future looks like and he wants to make it. Incase you doubt that you’ll note that he put a substantial amount of his own fortune into Tesla when it was running out of money as a company. Can’t ask for more than that. Branson had / has some of that vision.. but he’s a true (good) business man in the end.. Elon musk is almost the anti-businessman... and not the best speaker either... but he wants the world to move in a certain direction and believes he has the answer. When someone has that kind of passion... AND the means to make it happen, people want to know what he can achieve. It’s a good thing to follow.
@jco83 It definetely is for low res games, for sure... Donkey Kong Country 2 for example, still looks fantastic on CRT, but on 4K all I see are PIXELS.
@Outspoken The ease of production of this kind of video, means that ‘documenting’ has many times been instead, ‘fictional creation’ with little to no way of a viewer to discern the difference.
@electrolite77 Yep, for me, if there is going to be dlc for a game that is unfinished, the only acceptable dlc should be multiplayer because you need online connectivity for that anyway, so it doesn’t hinder a physical cartridge release. If company’s need to hold back on various items to be able to release a game, I’m happy for multiplayer to be it.
@hoopderscotch Normally I am the first person to complain about having a game released ‘incomplete’ because it renders the physical release ‘permanently’ half finished... but in THIS case, if multiplayer is added as a dlc I’m not worried because the internet will be required for online multiplayer anyway, so it’s not a problem for the physical release.
@BlueOcean Actually a decent 4K upscaling TV keeps the picture looking quite nice (so yes depends on the TV) but yes your point about looking fine for portable is valid.
@retro_player_22 You mention ‘already cover every need’... well... no..... many people like the Gamecube controller... so there’s a need right there that’s not covered Personally, I really enjoy the feel of the GC controller, not much else like it.
@SlyPlayr09 If only Spyro was actually on the cartridge without a massive day 1 download (for all!! of the 3 games) I would personally have bought it...but the game itself seems great.
@sixrings There are absolutely games that should have scored lower than they do... but it may also just be different tastes. Have you performed a week long unbiased review of this game as a comparison?
It’s not that I don’t like this at all.. it’s just that of all racing games that I would have liked to see... the one ported previously to mobile, is the one I least wanted. Dirt Rally, F1, or virtually any other Codemasters racing game.
Let’s go.... but I guess I should be thankful for what we get.
EDIT : After seeing this in action on the Switch - I’m happy to be surprised. I’m sold... I mean, it’s still not Dirt Rally, but it looks fantastic anyway.
@TheUltimateFaker As mentioned above - the controller does not appear to change angles.. only the connection rail to allow it to sit flush with the controller when it’s detached and angle to a straight position to conmect to the Switch.. the article (as often I feel with Nintendolife) has miss-interpreted the information.
@Liam_Doolan It doesn’t look like it allows for user adjustment of the angle at all - it just looks like the upper part of the connection rail can align with the angle of the controller when detached and then move straight for connecting to the Switch... The angle of the controller itself does not appear to be able to change - only the connection rail.
@TromaDogg I have a 500GB card and not worried about the space - what bothers me is that if I’m buying physical I expect the whole game to be on the cart. Ridiculous trend... but I’ve said this many times before unfortunately.
@carlos82 I would assume that the review score would just depend on whether the reviewer felt that the lack of multi in ‘this’ game, hindered their personal experience.. I never understand calling for consistency when you have different people reviewing.... GENERAL consistency is nice and it exists in the sense that similar things don’t get rated 2 by one person and 10 by another, or that good graphics, gameplay or otherwise is recognised reasonably, but direct consistency cannot exist as gaming is largely about an ‘experience’ and that can differ depending on who is playing.
@Dellybelly It’s not ‘well known’ that Nintendo games get ‘plus 1’... it’s definitely ‘said by a lot of people’ (incorrectly)... which is a completely different thing.
