The thing that confuses me most - is that this is ‘old/current’ Arnold... but he’s playing as the Terminator.. Shouldn’t he look the way he did in T1/2? Or it’s possible I haven’t seen what happens in the latest Terminator movie in which case I would assume there’s a back story... Personally T2 is one of the best movies of all time and I’m happy to stop there.
The comment about ‘if it was smaller it would be a problem’ .. all innuendo jokes aside, most standard controllers are much smaller than the Switch and are fine.. it’s about the comfort.
@Heavyarms55 I agree the wording is less than perfect from a ‘professional site’... but yes it’s an actual non-mobile car racing game which is good... if it’s good
@aznable I haven’t seen a new ‘great’ top down racer in the last... maybe.. 15 years.... but when I play the originals like Micro Machines 96 or even V3, they are still fantastic fun. They absolutely could have top down racers ‘this century’.. they just need to make them to be.... good. Mantis Burn is probably one of the better examples, compared with other current options, but it’s just not that good.
This Mantis Burn was a game that I originally looked forward to greatly - as a fan of the original Micro Machines games all the way to V3. Then it came out... and it was sorely lacking in many areas. Very overrated on this website I believe.
@retro_player_22 You’ll notice that they also mention ‘Zelda’ so i assume they are just referring to the digital version and how much space it takes up - (my assumption is based on the fact that Zelda does not require a ~14GB install that they mention, when using the cartridge).
@BlackenedHalo It’s much more than just ‘resolution’ that allows a game to run more efficiently. Assuming it runs fine, they’ve clearly done good work with the coding. It struggled on PS4 initially as well - to get it to run well on Switch would have required a lot of work.
Meanwhile with these kind of issues - a physical copy of the game would be permanently useless in the future when servers go offline as the ‘patch’ would also no longer be available.
Make the game. Test the game. Release the game. The developers these days are really starting to grind my gears. But it’s ok because.... there’s probably a patch for that.
@koekiemonster I understand that yes it’s a bit annoying that it’s more expensive on Switch - I get it - but it’s often going to cost a company more to make sure it runs at a good rate and quality on a lower powered handheld system, not to mention the cartridge cost. It’s basically a given and most people are fine with it. If $10 breaks the budget then gaming probably isn’t the hobby for you.
This extra charge seems to at least make sense - on the contrary, DLC that should have been included and then we are charged extra for, for example, is where I think that we are being ripped off.. I personally choose to pick my battles.
@sandman89 Actually they are trying to avoid passing costs on by releasing a half-complete product instead (if the implication of this article is accurate). I’d rather pay the extra and have a full, complete, tested (not tested after printing and needing day one patches) physical game.
At the price of memory these days - the extra 8GB to make it a 16GB (or even 32GB) card would be seemingly small... I just don’t think that developers / Nintendo realise how many people really want the physical medium and are voting with their wallets.... If no one else... there’s definitely one (me). I’ll buy it but when it’s old and on special / second hand. I’m fine with that... but if it was complete (no day one patches or DLC that should have been included etc.) then I would have bought it day 1.
@Damo Is this a UK/US thing? What I mean by that is that in Australia, everything yas at least a standard 1 year warranty for all products have so if you take back your Switch for something defective they have to either repair or replace (I believe replace within a certain period may be enforced also) and you can demand a refund if the defect is significant anyway.
I thought the whole purpose of this warranty is to protect consumers and have them avoid this ’worry’ when buying new products?
@RupeeClock. Also, the red straw is a fair bit taller than the original, which although minor, does give a different look. Possibly longer legs on Mugman too... They’re great renders however.
@konbinilife Interesting - probably the game on Switch then.. Anyway, just incase it helps - most modern tv’s have different performance limitations depending on which port it’s plugged into and also whether it’s set to a game mode etc. You could try swapping the PS4 / Switch hdmi port and see if it makes a difference.
@konbinilife Just wondering - is the lag related to the hdmi input of your tv? I only ask as I have no issue whatsoever with any ‘noticeable’ input lag for the Pro Controller (I don’t play Rocket League so that’s why I’m mentioning it as maybe it’s specific to this game... or maybe it’s just your TV lag via hdmi).
@Grisinblue Out of curiosity... not enough for what? I find it funny we have to coat our new portable shiny devices in protection to begin with but other than clarity of the plastic/glass, what more does the protector need? I ask this having only had a glass protector once and seen no additional benefit on the device over the many many many plastic ones I’ve used over the years.
@mattesdude It’s aged for sure, but it’s still a masterpiece in its own right - spent so long with it, fantastic game... I love the first Timesplitters also, which is (as far as I know) made by the same people from Rare (and it shows massively), but it’s a fair bit cleaner because it’s on the later system (PS2)... but obviously a different theme.
@Ganon_The_Canon Doesn't really need confirming, considering that you can see them in the pictures from all angles.. they are raised just like the originals.

or any other thing that doesn't involve staring at a screen.
It's 2019, so I will choose to talk about it as a way to stop staring at a screen for an extra 30 seconds.
@BacklogBlues I would say my SNES controller still feels the same after 24 ish years.... or at least negligible differences.... but I’m also very careful with them... sticky fingers were NOT an option =P
@hakjie11 Given they would have to greatly improve the cooling and miniaturise the electronics, it’s more likely to be more expensive.... I see this often in forums ‘smaller’ should be ‘cheaper’... but in these kind of devices, it’s harder to make it smaller, not easier.
@KoekiieWoekiie I get what you’re trying to say - but the Full HD is a screen resolution on the Switch.. it’s not a texture resolution..... Screen and texture res are entirely independent.
For example, a Full HD resolution game could have a 55k texture (hypothetically).. that texture might be spread across a whole map... This wouldn’t be done, but my point is that the resolution of Full HD or 4k of screen res’ isn’t the resolution of the textures... the size of the possible textures is dependent on the hardware for sure, but just not in the way you’re thinking.
Long story short though - yes, the PS4 textures would presumably be higher than on the Switch.. however also, the cartridges come in large sizes (increasing as time goes on), if the company chooses to buy them, but the Blu-Ray is mostly fixed at a maximum size.
@Jeronan On the plus side they were nice enough to still release it on the WiiU as well I would guess they would do the same for Switch if there was a Switch 2.0.
@Blizzia If comparing bad design of a character to just an art style that you think doesn’t fit the setting, it would be two different things... so not really a valid argument. One would be unappealing regardless of where it was, the other just different to what you’d seen before.
@electrolite77 It was ‘ok’.. especially when I was hoping for a MicroMachines 96 /V3 revival... but I’ll take it given there’s nothing better haha. Hopefully this is at least as good.
EDIT : forget everything I just said - I was thinking of Mantis Burn Racing.. oops
@SmaggTheSmug All of that info is interesting - thanks for explaining. I understand what your saying, however I would hope there is a ‘version’ of PETA (or different organisation) that can do what PETA is ‘supposed’ to be doing, and protect from animal abuse / cruelty. It seems it’s not them - but I would prefer they become that or another organisation does, rather than have nothing.
@BulbasaurusRex Absolutely - however in this particular case, it was the ones doing it super fast and for efficiency (professional) that was the issue because if the animal gets cut or damaged ‘superficially’ it doesn’t matter - and it’s the speed and efficiency that could cause the damage.
@BulbasaurusRex I think the post was rediculous don’t get me wrong - but (I assume) the reason they don’t like shearing is that from my experience it can be done very fast and appeared almost violent where the sheep are distressed and could get badly gashed / cut from it.. but that’s just from what I’ve seen, so I assume that’s why.
@HadesThePyro They are doing it very wrong and clearly are out of touch - but standing up against cruelty should not die off... they just need to be framing their issues differently than what they currently do.
@BensonUii Mostly - you have to buy the cart and insert it and then download the entire game. After that you just log back in and download the first three day one patches. Those patches allow you to keep the game installed while the developers finish the game and then once that’s done you’ll have access to the full set of characters except the DLC ones that will be enabled in a month for $5. The intro movie is also removed because Sega did it first so they thought it was a good idea to follow suit and save money.
Sorry... I’ve been having nightmares about the future of gaming haha.
But in all honesty, to answer your question.. no idea sorry, but from what I’ve read these developers seem decent enough, it’s probably all there... at a guess.
@HammerKirby Firstly I am not one of those people, ‘however’ I can understand it - because it’s almost a running joke that things are being left out of the Switch versions based on ‘cost’ alone (Which is what this issue is according to Sega themselves). So by leaving out parts of the game, even if minor, it’s annoying people.
It’s a ‘principal of the thing’ type reason... if we let them get away with it, they just keep doing it and it escalates (think of day one patches / unfinished games because they can get away with dlc later).. and the only way people can vote, is with their wallets.
Interestly, although I was highly looking forward to this game for years now, it served one purpose after playing for several hours.... to remind me of how good Wipeout is and go back to playing both the PS1 (Wip3out) and PS4 HD/2048 remake. RMX gameplay /controls (and terrible zooming/fov when boosting) put me off after a while too. But at least RMX looks fantastic.
The controls in Redout make the game feel like you’re at the mercy of the track design rather than your skill level (lack of true airbrakes - strange limited strafe mechanic instead - it’s like they tried to be different to Wipeout by making a similar but far far inferior mechanic). The performance is reasonably smooth but varies in visual quality as the race progresses ‘wildly’! Sometimes very hard to see as the track blurs into low res or grittiness. I assume it’s using variable resolution as sometimes it’s just so hard to see what’s going on - less of an issue when docked.
@IHateTombs Yep - it’s still a Sonic game put out to market by Sega, but yes it’s not made by that group. That said I think the quality of the Sumo Sonic racing games including this one are good to the point where it’s not ‘great’ but still well made and fun... which is basically a decent expectation for a game in a genre that is very specifically associated with a particular competitor (Mario Kart).
Anyway, I totally agree that Sonic games have been sub-par for a long time now...with the racing games maybe reaching ‘par’
@BenAV Not ashamed to say that back in the day I could play through RE almost by muscle memory, knowing the location of every key and trinket... a fantastic experience. But that was on the Playstation.. when Gamecube had the re-release I didn’t get much of a chance to play. I think they moved the location of things so will be good to relearn everything. My advice to newcomers is to play it with an open mind to the original controls and you’ll get used to them... and then, it’s truly epic.
@westman98 Well, I still have both my original PS2 and the smaller remake that work fine.. Most of my friends had one.. I don’t recall any repurchases or reports of them on a mass scale.. sounds like BS to me.
@hadrian Well.. have you heard of the Sega Nomad... it’s an entire Sega Mega Drive in a hand held and also plugged in to the tv...and it was before all that.
@duffmmann That isn’t the preferred model but the point is that many companies do exactly that kind of bad thing... I’m glad they chose to buck the trend and at least offer the game complete on day one.
@Stocksy I’m not sure if I miss understood your comment - but I agree they shouldn’t rule out future content - but the biggest take-away for me on this is that the game is ‘complete’ without having to buy extra stuff that was probably already done before release anyway, for some extra cash... they may not be saying it in the right way but they should absolutely be applauded for not trying to ‘cash grab through DLC.
@nintendolie Well with Redout, although communication was handled terribly and the game is far from perfect, at LEAST they spent the time and effort to get the game playing ‘reasonably’ well before release... I won’t be giving a company money for a game that seems sub - par at best or released without care for quality.
@shaneoh Umm.. I totally understand that the icon might be similar... for the same game (That’s actually still a better icon anyway) but the interface is not the same, nor is the way in which people use the device, which is the point.. but more importantly.. I kinda don’t care anymore haha
@shaneoh Each to there own... however all I’m going to say... is that no, the icons they are referring to are not really like PC icons for decades, but PC doesn’t really have the same interface so it’s kind of a pointless comparison.. Anyway, enjoy.

Re: Feature: The Ever-Changing World Of Nintendo Switch Menu Icons
@RazorThin The Sonic Mania one is definitely fine.
Re: Feature: The Ever-Changing World Of Nintendo Switch Menu Icons
@shaneoh Umm.. I totally understand that the icon might be similar... for the same game (That’s actually still a better icon anyway) but the interface is not the same, nor is the way in which people use the device, which is the point.. but more importantly.. I kinda don’t care anymore haha
Re: Feature: The Ever-Changing World Of Nintendo Switch Menu Icons
@shaneoh Each to there own... however all I’m going to say... is that no, the icons they are referring to are not really like PC icons for decades, but PC doesn’t really have the same interface so it’s kind of a pointless comparison.. Anyway, enjoy.
