@DK-Fan Diminishing returns. Mario Kart games are substitute goods (that is to say, they’re so similar that you’re less likely to buy one if you have a different one). They cost a lot of time and money to develop, so they’re only released when they’ll make maximum revenue (pound for pound it’s Nintendo’s biggest series). It’s no accident that every Nintendo console since the SNES has had exactly one Mario Kart, even if the console lasts a long time and sells very well. Live by port-begging, die by port-begging.

That’s only in the UK (Nintendo’s worst region). I’d like to see the analysis for other countries, and the actual methodology.

Eh. At least Nintendo still actually makes consoles. They also go for a blue ocean strategy (appealing to children, young adults, seniors, and even women).

So they decided not to give people a platform to bash their company? Seems like a no-brainer to me. It will be a quickly forgotten Twitter hashtag by a tiny vocal minority and the decision will affect neither their bottom-line nor the quality of the software they release.

@KingMike You can cross a couple off your list. They released several classic NES games as Gameboy Advance cartridges, which are playable on most DS models. Super Mario Bros. was one of these games of course, so it’s playable on Nintendo DS. Through the Gameboy Player, it can be played on GameCube as well. So that leaves us with N64, Virtual Boy, and black and white Gameboy.

@gaga64 2 doesn’t have Weird Mario or Mystery Mushroom costumes, you can’t edit levels you’ve downloaded, and the Wii U gamepad is better for editing than any mode of playing on Switch.

I don't think any of Age of Calamity is canon TBH. It is to Breath of the Wild what Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is to the novels.

Not a huge Animal Crossing guy, but considering how well it sold and the cultural impact it had in the age of COVID (you even have Members of Congress playing it), it absolutely should be Game of the Year.

I think Link is to video game characters what Clarence Thomas is to Supreme Court justices. That is to say he's clearly a smart, thoughtful guy but is the strong, silent type and usually prefers to let others do the talking. Prior to the inauguration in 2017, very few people even knew what the latter sounded like. Which is really too bad, because he has such an impressive voice.

I wouldn’t be so sure they lose to Calamity Ganon. There’s time travel and it appears the champions’ successors make appearances (the tapestry art depicts two riders per beast rather than one). The new timeline theory is likely in my view.

Word of God settles it. It makes sense anyway. There’s no reason it would be in German, and the screen clearly says “miss”. Case closed.

So they still haven't started yet. Kind of makes sense considering they were practically bankrupt before they were given the project.

@ToadBrigade Apparently the entire premise of the game is that a tiny pet guardian of Zelda's travels back in time and shows everyone pictures of the Great Calamity. So presumably, the Champions get the chance to rewrite history and beat Calamity Ganon the first time around. Thus creating yet another Zelda timeline.

@KingBowser86 Well, not all female characters are into Link. There’s that one Gerudo lady that asks him to marry her, but then says she’s just joking because he’s too scrawny and she’s worried she would accidentally break him in half from hugging him too tightly. There’s also that Sheikah that initially likes Link, but eventually gets creeped out by him because he keeps following her around at night.

Smash Run has potential, I think.

@HexagonSun You need 8 stars to unlock Mario (they can be from anywhere). You can play as Mario for the vast majority of the other 142. Not that there's really anything wrong with the other characters.

Except it's hardly "vastly superior"; Super Mario 64 DS controls great if you actually spend two minutes getting used to the controls instead of watching Youtube videos about how bad it supposedly is, and the additional content more than makes up for it.
