“ Unlike Disney's live-action movies, though, the Zelda remakes are fantastic”
Hey, the new Tim Burton Dumbo is pretty good. Largely because they actually tried to do something new with it (picking up after the first movie left off) rather than just a straight rehash (as Nintendo and Disney tend to do).
@Stubborn_Monkey It’s a good game, to be sure, but none of them have even sold 3 million copies. It’s more internet-popular than actually one of Nintendo’s core series. It has good potential though, especially with the Switch’s success, which is why Nintendo is right to appeal to the broadest audience possible.
Good discussion. Yes, Metroid is one of those series that is more Internet-popular than it is in reality (see also: Star Fox, F-Zero). Case in point, Mario Odyssey has sold better than all Metroid games combined. But it does have potential with the Switch, and Dread or Prime 4 (which will probably be cancelled again if Dread doesn’t sell decently) could finally achieve E ticket or near E ticket status like Luigi’s Mansion did. Worth watching for sure.
@SaveDinos What “insurrectionist party”? I’ve been reliably informed that overthrowing the US government would be impossible unless you have nukes and F16 jets. A couple of unarmed clowns rioting at the capitol for a couple hours (and causing far less carnage than the “fiery but mostly peaceful” protests endorsed by the current vp) does not an insurrectionist party make.
“ But, more than anything else, I can ask: which website did you visit the most in the early 2000s? If the answer is anything other than Neopets, EBaum's World, Homestar Runner, YTMND, Something Awful, MySpace, Albino Black Sheep, A Softer World, or Newgrounds”
Deleting games that you've paid for is a thing? That's ridiculous. I buy physical whenever possible, so it's a moot point, and there are things called SD cards. Weird article.
@Andy_Witmyer You seem rather upset about something. Obviously Nintendo’s game drought at the worst possible time hasn’t been kind to everyone’s mental well-being.
Vapourware, just like the so-called Retro Studios mystery project (which never existed at all, as in fact the company was just about bankrupt and ready to shut down at the time).
@ItsAMeWario Did we watch the same trailer? There’s some sort of new cyclops robot thing (not of Sheikah design) at about 0:35 followed by some sort of Talus-based Bokoblin fortress.
Solid 7/10 for me. Their best direct in a while. Zelda is too far away but at least we got something. Also looks like they’re not making a completely pointless new console, nor is there a rehash-filled 35th anniversary Zelda. Warioware looks good, as does the new Metroid.
The pandemic and resulting mental health crisis are all the more reason for Nintendo to get out its big games in 2020 and 2021. Seems they’ve let everyone down right when we need them the most, thus they literally have blood on their hands.
So Link’s an amputee/cyborg now? The game looks pretty prototype-y for now, though we’re still a while away. Also looks like the 35th anniversary direct leak was Fake News.
"We've written before about how modern difficulty settings and optional aids are nothing but a positive, and yer man Chris Scullion penned a soapbox last year saying there's no shame in pros playing on Easy."
Well, this is obviously not true. If it really was nothing to be ashamed of, you wouldn't have had to write an op-ed about it. If you're explaining, you're losing.
Yeah, I agree with the Santa Claus theory of the Zelda timeline. That is to say that in Hyrule canon Zelda may be very loosely based on a real historical figure (like St. Nicholas), but it’s more of a legend that the hero will rise again during every period of national strife (just as Santa Claus will come to deliver gifts every Christmas) with the legend developing and getting more details over time through fables and carols.
@KayFiOS People only “love to hate” Skyward Sword when they’re taking a break from portbegging for it. And the Breath of the Wild DLC didn’t come with a collectible figurine. Either way, meaningful DLC locked behind rebuying the game for 80$ is far worse than anything they’ve done with amiibo.
Breath of the Wild has QoL features (most notably, a fast travel option), so it's not exactly new. I'm not voting as I already have a perfectly good copy of Skyward Sword so have no need to double dip, so the decision doesn't affect me.

Re: Platinum Really Wants To Show You Bayonetta 3, But It Can't
Lol. It’s clearly vapourware.
Re: Talking Point: If Nintendo Switch Online Adds Game Boy, Why Not Throw In GBA, Too?
Don't think the basic Switch quite has the horsepower. It will need to be exclusive to the Switch Pro.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Will Expand Its Switch Online Service With Game Boy And Game Boy Color Titles
No, Game Boy Games will be exclusive to the Switch Pro.
Re: Random: In Case You Didn't Know, There Are Now 900 Pokémon
But there are only 150 true Pokémon.
Re: Feature: 20 Super NES Classics Nintendo Should Bring To Switch Online
Surprised they don't have Earthbound or Super Mario RPG on there.
Re: Community: What Was Your First Ever Nintendo Game?
Wario Land II for the Game Boy Color. Great game.
Re: Poll: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD's Biggest Question - How Do You Pronounce Fi?
It ought to rhyme with Navi, I would think.
Re: Feature: Fire Emblem And 8 Other Nintendo Franchises That Need A TV Series
None of them do, because the Hollywood degenerates would ruin anything they touch.
Re: Random: This Pokémon Baby Clothing Line Is Enough To Make Anyone Broody
Broody? There’s a headline lol.

Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@HamatoYoshi They consistently get lots of comments, so they're good for ad revenue. Evergreen just like articles about NSO.
Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime Trilogy For Switch Ready To Go, According To Industry Insider
They'd have released it in 2020 (Nintendo's worst year to date) if it was real. They didn't release it in 2020, thus we can conclude it isn't real.

@marandahir well put.
Re: New Metroid Dread Report Outlines 7 Points That Define The 2D Saga
@Dezzy Very few people actually have played a Metroid game, so Nintendo’s approach is a wise one.
Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Is More Collaborative And Open Than Ever, Which Benefits Us All
Nope, the less Nintendo has to do with those degenerates in Hollywood the better. If anyone can ruin Nintendo's IPs it's them.

That’s quite the line lol.

Not on NSO (I think), but surely the giant enemy crab from E3 2006 deserves at least an honourable mention.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60
They’re 80$ up here (not 60), and as long as it’s not a rehash (as many of Nintendo’s first-party lineup is) it’s a fair price.
Re: Metroid Games You Need To Play Before Metroid Dread
At first I read it as “Metroid games to play before you’re dead”. I suppose it’s just as well.

Shameful. Ravio deserves better than that.
