Update: Tue 24th May, 2022 09:10 BST: In response to our enquiry regarding a potential Switch port for DRANIUS, Playism had the following to say:
"We do not have a definitive answer yet however, a DRAINUS Switch release is currently being considered."
So that's something, at least! We'll keep our fingers crossed and hope for some more news soon.
Original Article: Mon 23rd May, 2022 19:45 BST:
Team Ladybug, known for its work on the Castlevania inspired Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, has launched a brand new side-scrolling shooter called DRANIUS, and boy, does it look tasty. It's a classic 2D shooter, but with hints of Ikaruga in the mix with the ability to absorb bullets.
The only problem is that it's not yet been confirmed for release on Switch. Boo. Still, we're optimistic given the team's past experience with the console, and we'd be remiss not to highlight the incredible looking gameplay.
Here's some info on the release from the game's Steam page:
This is a side-scrolling shooting game in which the player takes control of the "Drainus", a ship that can absorb energy bullets, to take down the countless enemy ships zipping through space. Energy absorbed can be used to enhance the ship's functions, such as adding new weapons.
We've reached out to the publisher to enquire about a potential Switch release. In the meantime, check out the trailer below to catch a glimpse of some gorgeous looking gameplay.

INB4 any louts dare to abuse the term "port begging" here. Making games more available to your fellow gamers is a good thing... as the 3DS and Wii U eShops can attest.
One dataset I would love to see is a breakdown of the time interval between games being published on Steam and then on Switch. I'll wager that genres like shoot-'em-ups have one of the shorter average waits.
Good gravy! Ummm, I would like this on my Switch. Please
@CANOEberry Considering that Nintendo never ports their stuff to anything other than an iPhone app, I think it's fair to keep the walls up.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to spell the name of the game correctly? "Drainus" is it's unfortunate title LOL

Looks amazing and I play lots of shmups but I would struggle to play that I think. I’m *****.
This game must run flawlessly with 60 fps. If Switch cannot provide this, then their shouldn’t port it.
Looks sweet. Would probably pick this up if/when it gets ported to Switch.
Looks superb. Hopefully a Switch port is incoming.
Drainus, huh.. not a name you want to say too out loud..
Looks promising, if it comes to Switch I may be interested
Looks interesting but that name is horrific.
This actually looks pretty good.
Gonna get this on both Switch and Steam.
Definitely misread this as Drainus first. Then second guessed that and saw that the article had also corrected it to Dranius, as certainly they wouldn't have actually...
Wait. They did? They actually named it Drainus? Huh.
The game looks amazing! It looks like a blast to play and the sprite work is absolutely incredible! I'll be picking this up on Steam for sure.
Team Ladybug never disappoints!
Just downloaded it on the Steamdeck (around 170mb) and it is an absolute steal for a tenner. Beautifully presented, lots of innovative bosses and gameplay elements.
I prefer it over Andro Dunos II and fingers crossed it heads to Switch although it may be a tough port as things get very busy on screen with some giant well animated bosses.
Looks rather awesome and I can’t help but love DRAINUS for a ship name.
A ship that absorbs all the projectiles, and rhymes with a certain unheroic body part - BRILLIANT! 😂
With the huge Switch install base in Japan and elsewhere I’m sure the devs would like to port it if possible, and keep the shmup torch burning.
How come this post is calling it ‘Dranius’? The blurb and title font say ‘Drainus’..
@NinChocolate Ollie must have left his glasses at home. I’m sure it’ll be updated today.
Even the guys on the shmups .system11 forum noticed the typo 😁
Looks like a fantastic game. Console release pls
I hope they make it happen, and a physical version would be welcome, too.
