Grasshopper Manufacture's No More Heroes III is coming to other formats, it has been revealed.
XSEED has confirmed that it is bringing the former Switch exclusive to PS5, PS4, Xbox and PC.
Previous No More Heroes titles have followed a similar path, launching first on Nintendo systems before being released on other formats.
We awarded the game 8/10, saying:
No More Heroes III has the faults of both its mainline predecessors – it’s a little more tedious than No More Heroes 2, and a little less meaningful than No More Heroes. It makes up for this, however, by being another inarguably impressive, balls-to-the-wall carnage-fest, a blood-spattered love letter to excess, and a Suda51 fan’s wet dream splashed across the Switch. The story it tells is cool. The game it plays is cool. Neither of these crucial aspects reach the heights of the series' Nintendo Wii origins, but nobody who truly gets No More Heroes could reasonably be disappointed with this third incarnation. The joke’s beginning to wear thin, but it’s all in the telling. And Suda51 can still spin a very fine yarn.

Joke's on Xbox & Playstation, this game was horrible.
I don't care about exclusivity so long as the Nintendo version is not a half-assed and/or poor imitation of the others. Remains to be seen how much better this might look on PS & XB.
It's understandable. At least it will be in much better shape than the Switch version.
I'll like to see what more powerful hardware can do with this title.
Will be interesting to observe if any of the technical shortcomings are resolved!
I like when more people have the ability to play cool looking games. I think that's neat.
@CharlieGirl same, I think the more people that get to play this, the better.
Curious to see how it will look/run on much stronger hardware
Not too surprising, as NMH gets ported a lot. Kinda tempted to get this as well. It's good that more people have access to this wonderful series.
@XBontendo TSA was definitely very mediocre, but NMH3 was great. Sorry you didn't enjoy it.
Kinda curious to know if Suda51 is involved in the decision unlike the PS3 remaster because that remaster was...kinda rough
Hang on, wasn't there a Smash Bros reference that Nintendo themselves gave their blessing for? Will that translate over to the other versions as well?
@Fizza It's not like it's trade marked by Nintendo! Otherwise Nickelodeon All Stars Brawl would not exist
@EVIL-C Had a blast with both 1 & 2. TSA was mediocre for sure, but 3 felt like Suda totally missed what made the first two fun. The jokes were contrived, the world felt bland & empty, the minigames were tedious, & the combat was repetitive at best.
To each their own, but for me NMH3 was the only game in the series which scored a "No" on a scale of "Is it fun". Even TSA scored a "Sort of". A real bummer as I've always been rather fond of NMH.
I hope I’m not the only one who got Akira vibes from the thumbnail for this article.
1 and 2 were great but this one I have mixed feelings for. Making money by doing boring side jobs is even worse to what it was before. All of this being said once you get down to the nitty gritty, you know fighting bosses it's actually pretty good.
NMH 1 and 2 beat this game by a country light year.
@XBontendo Sad, but true.
I preferred 1 and 2 as they had "more impact" on me but i still enjoyed 3 overall. I'm glad that more gamers have a chance to experience it. I don't think the PSBOX gamers will tolerate technical shortcomings though, so....
@rmswriter
It's intentionally an Akira reference. Looks way too similar not to be one.
Those open world sections were dreadful from a technical standpoint.
I've had it for awhile but not gotten around to playing it yet. Kind of been meaning to revisit the first two first, it's been a long time.
@rmswriter I literally just came to comment on that lol only when I clicked on the article I realised it wasn’t
It will at least look and run much better on those systems than on Switch, because jeez this was a shoddy job at best, even for a timed exclusive.
Doesn’t change the fact that the third game was mediocre (sadly)
I'll pick it up for Series X.
The more the merrier.
In general, it should be expected that third-party "exclusives" will almost always eventually find their way to other platforms.
@XBontendo I think NMH1 will always be the best. I enjoyed 2 a lot at the time, but it wasn't nearly as memorable as the original. I must play it again on Switch sometime. 3 definitely had weak minigames, although I think it's fair to say NMH1 had an empty overworld and repetitive combat. It's "newness" and its' over the top style and attitude negated much of the negatives it had. Can't lie that I had more fun overall with 3 than I did with TSA, lol. I'd rank them 1 > 2 > 3 > TSA.
@EVIL-C agreed about the empty world, but 1 kept it small, while the sheer size of 3 made it all the more apparent. The lack of dumpster diving didn't help.
I'm sure you're right about the combat, but I guess I would have hoped for more evolution after such a long wait.
Can we get the first two games ported to modern consoles, please, Suda? I would like to have them all on one platform.
@XBontendo NMH1 is one of my favourite games of all time, but literally everything you listed as a criticism of 3 is prevalent in 1/2, save for open world complaints about 2 which aren't applicable. Empty open world? Check. Forced or over the top humour more for effect than actual laughs? Check? Repetitive combat? Check. Tedious mini games? Hey, if you find mowing lawns and collecting scorpions to be either engrossing or substantive then you do you.
The entire series is style over substance, and that's absolutely okay because the game is both social commentary and satire. The games are more than the sum of their parts. If you don't like 3 I'm not trying to change your mind or **** on your taste, it's moreso that your criticisms of 3 aren't consistent against the rest of the series. Cheers.
@XBontendo
Was it really that bad?
@XBontendo I agree completely. The combat was more polished but at some point, it just became joyless. The original will always be a high watermark for me so anything beyond that is icing. I had fun with TSA but it's not nearly as good as the original.
@MsJubilee The first two are on Switch. The physical releases were handled by Limited Run and it's also on the eShop.
As much as I loved the first 2, I still haven’t picked this up. Full price just seems too much and I haven’t seen it on sale enough yet. From everyone’s opinions, I’m not missing much.
I’m okay with this. I’m not a fan of the series at all. Hopefully it does well on those platforms and even better than switch.
This is actually a good example why Nintendo doesn't immediately go for buying up exclusivity very often. Over time those contracts expire and ports become crazy. Fundamentally not worth the investment.
It's likely why Nintendo collaborates with their IP involved in those transactions. Prevents them from practicing this. Can't port Hyrule Warriors to the PS.
IMO was the weakest NMH out of the 3. The combat was decent with the glove but no different beam sabers and no multi character use killed potential. NMH 2 > NMH > NMH3
The performance improvements will help [FYI the combat was already stable on Switch this mainly just makes overworld fast travel more tolerable], but that doesn’t help improve the overall game.
If it comes to gamepass I’d try it but these games I play more just to see how crazy the story gets and never was that thrilled by the gameplay. I did enjoy 1 a good bit tho. I’d really like to play killer 7 again.
Great game, glad it's finally coming to PC.
@Chocobo_Shepherd It would only improve the 'open world' that ran at 30 fps (and below) but most if not all the fights were at a fairly steady 60 fps. And taking it from a dynamic 1080p to maybe 4K, but the art style would scale fairly easily.
Doubt they'll put any amount of work to do any other optimizations or improvements for other platforms.
3 is actually my favourite NMH, so i'm glad more people get to play it.
However, Killer7 is still Grasshopper's best game by far, i hope they'll port it to modern consoles at one point. I'd also like to play Killer Is Dead on modern consoles.
@XBontendo
"The jokes were contrived, the world felt bland & empty, the minigames were tedious, & the combat was repetitive at best."
I'm sorry, but as far as i'm concerned, this is true for pretty much the entire series.
I recently finished NMH1 and it was an absolute chore, started 2 and never really got into it.
Suda simply doesn't make good games. Interesting ones for sure, but everything so far was absolutely sub par in terms of being an actually enjoyable game.
@EmirParkreiner Killer7 is one of my favourite games ever. Amazing experience.
Removed - unconstructive
@rmswriter I mean, it’s one of the most blatantly obvious Akira homages I have ever seen.
I absolutely adored this game. Hopefully it hits GamePass at some point, would be nice to play it again with better performance.
Weird to see it coming to Xbox though. Are they porting the others to it? Feel like the appeal for this game is seriously limited if the other games aren’t accessible to you, I wouldn’t recommend this as anyone’s first NMH game at all.
i'm not sure what nmh i'd consider my favorite (each one has its own share of flaws) but i'd never call this horrible, it was roughly on par with 2 and 1
TSA is also very underrated frankly
Good for fans of other platforms.
I still want to get around to getting all games on Switch.
Shouldn’t this be on pure xbox and push square? This doesn’t impact Nintendo users at all.
I enjoyed NH3, it felt like a mix of both 1&2, but the increased graphical prowess meant it had some shocking consequences with frame rate and the open world bareness. Hoping a more powerful console will make it shine.
I've played and own all of them, and oddly enough 2 is my favourite followed Very closely by 1 and then TSA 3rd. NMH3 is my least favourite but by no means a bad game I just prefer slaughtering people and not weird machine like aliens. In terms of this port, I predict it will look and run a lot nicer but taking away the motion controls will definitely hurt the experience.
This comes fron the fact that the game sold well enough on Switch in order to justify the ports. Most likely will run better, but no motion controllers and no portability makes them the worst versions of the game.
@MEGAMAN_D I did love the second game but the last boss really soured the last few moments. Horribly designed boss with one hit KOs if you happened to end up in the wrong spot at the wrong time, I really hoped they’d fix it for the Switch port but nope. Never finished it on Wii or Switch because of that crap 😫
@XBontendo
Yeah those points are both fair. I didn't mind the map navigation screen from NMH2 at all, since I figured don't bother dumping time and resources into some sparse overworld that can't compete, nor is it trying to with other titles, such as GTA for example.
I hope NMH isn't truly over, as I'd love to see new future ideas from Suda's garden of madness someday.
@Ryu_Niiyama Well, there's that breed of Nintendo fan that really, REALLY wants games to stay exclusive on Switch. How will they know to have a meltdown in the comments if Nintendo Life doesn't tell them?
(Before anyone yells at me, yes, I know Playstation and Xbox has the same kind of fans).
it seens all exclusive on Switch will release on PS4/PS5, so Monster Hunter Rise e Bayonetta 3 next on PS4/PS5?
Lol some of the comments...
At first almost everyone was like "Great game!"
Suddenly after the announcement "no longer exclussive"
Fanbabys "We hate this game" 😂
Man so funny.
Really enjoyed this game (still do)
So yeah for everyone wo want it for PS or Xbox, enjoy this great game.
@Giancarlothomaz Don't expect games that Nintendo owns the publishing rights to, such as Bayonetta 3 and Astral Chain, to release on any other platform, besides Nintendo.
Also, it's more likely these games will eventually all release on PC, but not necessarily on PS4/5. For example, former Switch exclusives, such as Daemon X Machina, Octopath Traveler, Monster Hunter Rise/ Stories 2, Bravely Default 2 are all on PC, but not PS4/5.
@MEGAMAN_D
One of the very few games I'd say is better with motion controls. Definitely think it'll take away from the game a bit, not having those.
@yuwarite i see, Nintendo is wasting a huge oportunity in not letting this games release in every console possible, console exclusity is a concept so outdated.
@TheFox lol, fair enough. Unless Nintendo makes it I don’t care. More games for everyone.
@TheFox
The funniest thing about comments like these is that when I see him, you really don't see the examples that are being mentioned. I could be wrong, but I don't think I've seen even one example of what you're talking about yet lol. It's almost as if it's being quite blown out of proportion and not nearly as prevalent as some would like to seem or be.
You think they will get an enhanced port, maybe get rid of that open world and shred some of the fat off the game. The core gameplay is good fun but getting to it is a drag. Maybe one day I'll finish this game but I needed a break
NintenDOOMED!!
@gameboy1975 To be fair, I'm not sure I remember people getting salty over No More Heroes, but I have seen people get heated over the idea of Bayonetta and Astral Chain going multiplatform.
@rmswriter
No you are not, i was klicking on the article only because of that picture.
It's totally understandable, the game was mediocre junk to begin with, it should have been multiplatform at the start.
Games like that need as much coverage as possible to recoup dev costs, releasing on one platform is just counterintuitive when your product is just so lacklustre to begin with.
I didn't even know it was? I thought it was multiplat.
@MsJubilee they already have been
@rmswriter
Not so much vibes as a very direct homage/copy.
@SuperPotato316 and personally, I play on both modes, and I also like the motion controllers, hence my commentary.
Meh, typical Suda trash, awful, overrated art direction matched with equally inept execution.
@TheAceOfGurren the developers lack skill.
Loved the game, great that more people get to play it.
LET'S GO! SMT V NEXT PLSSS!
