Update [Wed 24th Aug, 2022 10:30 BST]: Bullet Soul and Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst are getting a slight delay on Switch, MAGES. has announced on Twitter.
This pair of shmups will now be releasing a few weeks later worldwide on Switch — on 29th September as opposed to 9th September in the west (and 22nd in Japan).
Don't fret, though! MAGES. has given us a couple of new trailers to gaze over in the meantime. We're sure shmup fans can wait a few more weeks in what already is a loaded month for Switch games.

Original article [Fri 24th Jun, 2022 10:30 BST]: MAGES. has announced it will be bringing Tachyon's shoot 'em up duo Bullet Soul and Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst Coming to the Switch on 9th September worldwide, while Japan will see the game a few weeks later on 22nd September.
This flashy bullet-hell shooter rewards you for aggressive play and fast shooting. With music from Romancing SaGa's Kenji Ito and Ridge Racer's Kohata Takahashi, over-the-top pyrotechnics, and eccentric character designs from Monogatari artist Akio Watanabe, you're in for some hot-blooded shooting later this year.
The games were originally released on Xbox 360 in 2011 and 2014 in Japan respectively, before making their way over to the West via Steam in 2017. Both games will cost $19.99 each and will be available on the eShop, while in Japan you'll be able to pick up a physical double pack with both games.
Here's a summary of the what to expect from these new rereleases from the game's official website:

Played these on Steam and they're decent. Nothing to get wildly excited about in comparison to Mushihimesama etc, but good gets for Switch all the same. I'll definitely be picking up that Japanese physical edition.
Ohh something new to try! Works for me.
As I’ve said before, I’m not complaining that the library of shooters is growing 🤟🏻
@Royalblues R-Type 3.
@Royalblues One? There are a gazillion great ones on Switch:
Layer Section & Galactic Attack S-Tribute (it has a demo) R-Type Dimensions (iirc has a demo?) R-Type Final 2 (demo), Arcade Archives Gradius III, Arcade Archives Thunder Dragon 2, ACA Neo-Geo Aero Fighters 2 (not exactly spaceships tho, but souped up airplanes lol) Andro Dunos 2, Thunderforce IV, Thunderforce AC, Super Hydorah, Zero Gunner 2-, Arcade Archives Raiden… and many more.
Awesome!
I wanted to play these for a long time.
@Royalblues I hope you find something you enjoy! There are literal hundreds of shmups, tailored to very specific taste. I found a ton I enjoyed via this article, which I will post to get you started:

@Royalblues xevious?
@Royalblues One of my favorite classic shmup series is the Darius franchise. It's sidescrolling and focuses on aquatic-themed robot ships and enemies. My first time playing it was Darius Twin on the SNES, and it was what got me hooked on the genre in the first place.
The Darius IP has a WEALTH of entries across multiple consoles and Arcade, and I think there are several collections available on Switch right now. I recommend the one that features the collection of SNES/Genesis/TG16 entries, but they're all worth the money overall.
@Royalblues Raiden series? I don't personally consider them bullet hell, more in the style of fast bullet military shooters.
Crisis wing is excellent too, space ships and nice old school music
@Royalblues I personally love Black Bird.
