Re: Minecraft Dungeons Announces Echoing Void DLC, New Free Update And Ultimate Edition

Einherjar

@Spoony_Tech I eventually gave up on it.
Between its frame pacing giving me headaches and nausea and the constant crashes, the issues far overshadowed any enjoyment from it.

I still have a slither of hope that it will be fixed one day but yeah, it's nothing i want to invest time into anymore.
Whenever a patch comes out, i see if i can finish a level. if it crashed, it's put on hold until the next patch.

And it's a shame really, i actually quite liked it.

Re: Poll: How Hyped Are You For Nintendo's E3 Direct?

Einherjar

I'm really looking forward which two Fire Emblem characters will be joining Smash!

Other than that, i go into it expecting nothing.
A few trailers that show nothing of stuff we already knew about ages ago.

Optimally:
BotW 2
SMT 5
Bayo 3
Metroid Prime 4

Wishful thinking?
Some major expansion of the Retro catalogue. (VC, NintendoOnline, that stuff) just to have a chance at GC games, mainly Gotcha Force

Re: Talking Point: Do You Replay Games?

Einherjar

Can't really use the poll since the given answers are all meh, but yes, constantly.
I replay and finish my favs regularly but also replay older stuff on a whim sometimes.
When i play newer games and they remind me of an older one, it's not rare for me to stop the playthrough of said newer game in favor of an old one instead.

Heck, i even got myself an XBOX ONE just for "RARE Replay" so i could comfortably replay some older RARE games. (It was a super cheap clearance deal, but still )

My play habits are the reason why i came to despise Pokemon games. Down the road, you will never be able to experience the games in their entirety ever again.
Event monsters, items etc. will be gone forever.
Or take Dragon Quest IX on DS. Since the server shutdown, we lost a huge chunk of content forever. Lots of fun items and over 60 quests are gone.

There are very few games i haven't picked up twice, so i do love when they are "complete" and stay that way in some way, shape or form.

Re: Project64 Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary With A 3.0 Update

Einherjar

@Azuris Yes, that's the semantic argument, but besides the point.
The argument was, that those who emulate deprive the original creator of their well earned money.
While this can be true, of course.
But more often than not, the things that get emulated aren't available for purchase anymore.

I'd love nothing more to shove money towards Nintendo and Capcom for a way to play Gotcha Force in HD.
But as it stands, ripping my own, legally bought copy and playing it via emulator while my legally bought Gamecube sits snugly on its display shelf, is the only way to go here.

People need to learn what emulation is and what it stands for even on a community level.

Re: Project64 Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary With A 3.0 Update

Einherjar

Emulate all the things!
If the industry doesn't care about preserving their work, the community should. And that goes for both, games and systems.

Also, to give another perspective:
Without (3DS) emulation, i wouldn't be able to play the system anymore because i can't see the tiny, low res screen properly anymore. Or at least not without massive eye and headaches.

So i ripped my entire collection to enjoy it on a much bigger screen in a much more comfortable position.

But regarding the "Emulation is theft" crowd:
Mind explaining to me how things can be stolen that aren't sold? That always confused me...

Re: Capcom May Have Postponed A Significant Mega Man Battle Network Announcement

Einherjar

Isn't this old news? Haven't they said something like this several months ago?

But regardless, their collections have drastically increased in quality and they should take all the time they need.
Making a shoddy BN collection is easy. But there's room for sooo many improvements:
-The most unlikely would be functioning live multiplayer.
Another option would be the Battle Chip Challenge route and generate bot codes for an asynchronous mode.
-If there's no MP, make sure that MP exclusive items are obtainable.
-Make the games link to each other or handle it via automatic unlocks (Like the eReader cards in the Z/ZX collection)
-Maybe even touch up BN4's script...

All in all, they should take whatever time they need, my money is ready

Re: DariusBurst: Another Chronicle EX+ Blasts Onto Switch Soon

Einherjar

And it's still a massive rip-off imo.
It still baffles me why they chose a standalone version of the Arcade Version when you can get Chronicle Savior, which has infinitely more content on top of featuring the Arcade Version for the same asking price.
If you also game on PC, do yourself a favor and get Chronicle Savior instead.
It's not only a better deal, on PC, it also supports a dual monitor setup for the Arcade mode, so it actually fills the screen instead of squishing it onto one (All other modes not featured in this switch release are single screen modes regardless).
Or get any other console version. Just as good, but true dual monitor support is just a sight to behold.

Re: Metroid Prime Trilogy Switch Port? Unlikely, Says Former Retro Studios Dev

Einherjar

As many already said: Not buying it.
Today's emulators are able to relatively competently translate button presses into simulated Wiimote motions and gestures.
And if a catch-all program can do it, a dev with (hopefully) source-code access can do so as well.
Yes, it would be effort, it's not a "dump it on there and be done with it" deal.
But in the hands of a somewhat competent team, i highly doubt it will be anywhere near "herculean".

Re: Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remaster Finally Returns To Australian eShop, Seven Months After Its Removal

Einherjar

@VoidofLight Well, it was a Gamecube game build around its local multiplayer capabilities, with the main gimmick being that you played it via your GBA (So you have your own menu on your handheld).

This port does not support local multiplayer...
And from what i've heard, it only tracks progress for those hosting the online session, thus killing all interest in randomly joining one. IF you could join one in the first place, because its multiplayer was also region locked...

It's a port that completely failed to capture the essence of what the original was all about.

Oh, and most of the new content (Costumes, weapons) was launch day DLC with a pretty hefty price tag.

The thing was a disaster all around.

Re: Soapbox: Hurry Up And Release The Switch Pro Already, My Switch Is Dying

Einherjar

Launch day Switch with launch day JoyCon and Pro Controller.
Left JoyCon gave up around half a year after the release of Xenoverse 2 (Heavy use of the left stick button), ProCon gave up a month ago.
The switch itself doesn't even have a single scratch, dent or break point.
Usage in both docked and handheld, predominantly docked.

But i'm also someone who's phone doesn't have a single scratch anywhere after 10 years.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Is Secretly One Of The Best Zeldas

Einherjar

Imo, it's much like Mario Sunshine:
If you don't actually have to play it, it sure is one of the best.
Same goes for the original Wind Waker.
It's atmosphere, tone and charme are unmatched and in your memory, it's one of the best experiences you had, might as well play it again... And then the boat hits you, and the wind gimmick, and the camera side quest, and...

I appreciate the win waker sub-series for being a little different, but no, thank you.

Re: Mistwalker Boss Not Interested In Reviving Studio's Older Games

Einherjar

@Darknyht Another big factor was that the 360 both had a 1 year head start, was the far far cheaper system to get and still used tried and true DVD's, which lessened production costs.

It took the PS3 quite some time to get into gear after launch as well (hence the meme PS3 has no games).
Many companies simply released on 360 because at the time, PS3 simply had no install base.

And i wouldn't call the (early) 360 an empty place for JRPG's at all:
Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon
Infinite Undiscovery
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
The Last Remnant
Eternal Sonata
Tales of Vesperia

Many of them later ported over to the PS3. Imo a pretty nifty, solid and varied line up overall.

Re: Mistwalker Boss Not Interested In Reviving Studio's Older Games

Einherjar

@doctorhino What the heck is your problem?
Again, i was talking about the install base of the two systems.
And, like it or not, that comes with a few numbers attacked.
And said numbers sadly say that the XBOX family of consoles offer the least reach compared to all its competitors, which is sad news for a game that should be able to be played by many many more people.
If you read "console wars" into that...that's your issue my friend.

If you get a kick from misconstruing stuff to start childish internet slap fights, i'd recommend getting a Twitter account. It's that sites specialty but *please" pester someone else with it.

Re: Mistwalker Boss Not Interested In Reviving Studio's Older Games

Einherjar

@doctorhino Excuse me?
What does that have to do with anything? O.o
I'm going simply by units sold and i even have to correct it down.
The source i looked up talked about ~10mil sold SX units when it's about 3mil at the moment.

The last two XBOX gens (ONE + SX) together moved a little more than the PS4 alone (~130mil against ~115mil)

Even with backwards compatibility, you're looking at a rather small install base for a game that really deserves more than that.

If you want to construe "console war" nonsense out of looking at shipped units and comparing a systems / system families reach, please do so somewhere else and spare me this childish nonsense.
Have a good day...jeez...

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

Einherjar

Is this really a thing? Maybe it's because i quit social media for the digital brain rot that it is, but in the real world, i've yet to encounter a single issue with not finishing games...

I love the Yakuza series to bits, but lacked the time to fully embrace the series. A friend of mine gobbled the series up in one go. With the help of popculture osmosis, wikis and youtube, we're still able to enjoy it together.

I've given up on most games, i've returned on the majority of them as well. And yet, no one really cared so far.
Not me, not everyone else.

Maybe it's time to "normalize" not giving a darn about the opinions of some circles on the internet or even RL people who think nonsense like this is even remotely important...

Manage your own time, do what makes you happy and cut things out of your life that bring toxicity into it.

Re: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's Next Major DLC Pack Arrives Later This Month

Einherjar

@TyroKith Xenoverse 1 had SSJ4 Vegeta as a pre order bonus which is now forever lost since they never released him separately.

Xenoverse 2 has Goku Black as pre order bonus. The pre order pack was later released separately and the switch version had it by default (as well as Xenoverse 1's Story Mode, so you really aren't missing anything with the Switch version)
