Original article [Sat 1st May, 2021 06:55 BST]: Mojang's dungeon-crawler Minecraft Dungeons will be getting a new update next week that allows players to keep grinding and levelling up across every device they own.
Yes, as of 5th May, there'll finally be cloud save support - meaning you can keep playing your same Minecraft Dungeons save on any device that has this game on it (that includes the Nintendo Switch).
This update follows on from cross-platform play, which was added to Minecraft Dungeons last November. This feature allows you to play the game with friends on PlayStation, Xbox and even Windows.

Nice. Got this game on xbox and switch, so this is great 😊
Nice, now I'm up to buy this especially because I'm Diablo style games fan!
That's cool and all but where's Minecraft 3!?
Great, bought this on switch - and did not want to start over on xbox or pc (gamepass) - now i am be able to use my switch progress there let the party start
Doesnt that mean you have to buy multiple copys of the same game?? Poor form. Cross saves should come with the option to also play the game on any devices regardless where ya buy it
"Play your save game on platforms that don't constantly crash"
@KnightsTemplar If you buy it on Xbox, Nintendo gets no part for a Switch version sale, and vice versa.
What happens, does anyone know, if you have a game save on two platforms currently. Are they both made available to both platforms? My main save is on switch but I have a save from Xbox game pass that I wouldn't really want to overwrite or cause issues with my switch save...
EDIT: It looks like from the article now that you choose which hero to upload to the cloud which makes it a lot easier to manage. Assuming after that it just syncs each time.
Well it's about bleedin' time!
@KnightsTemplar what you said only works for Free to Play games not for games you need actually to buy to play like NTDO89 explained. Right now you suggesting to make a game, that a lot people already bought, Free to Play. And that would make a lot of Chaos, because a lot people who bought it will feel robed and may try to get back their money any means necessary.
@KnightsTemplar KnightsTemplar you are right if you buy it once you should be able to download it for any system without paying again. All these companies are anti-consumer. I own it on Switch and now I have to buy it again so I can play the same game?
@HotGoomba where's minecraft 2? Also, I'm happy to see this game is still getting support bu mojang. It's very fun
@DennisNOR does it run well now?
@KnightsTemplar That idea is something I have dubbed universal game licencing which would allow you to pay a bit more and you get keys for each platform it is on.
@KnightsTemplar 'Doesn't that mean you have to buy multiple copies of the same game?? Poor form.'
@Minecraft_Master 'I own it on Switch and now I have to buy it again so I can play the same game?'
No you don't. You don't HAVE to buy two copies. You don't HAVE to play it on both consoles - You have a hybrid console anyway! Are you expecting two completely separate companies to split the profits for your convenience? That would be nice, sure - but it's kind of fantasy-land talk.
To be honest I'm not sure why they offer this feature anyway - Probably because they know there are enough people who will buy it twice anyway no matter what they do, and that if they don't they will be accused of being anti-consumer!
Good grief.
@anoyonmus its decent Playing it in handheld mode. The game itself is awesome
Is this X play, say between Xbox, PS5, PC etc?
@brunojenso It would be cool if MS and Nintendo worked out a deal where they could sell a discounted bundle that included both versions of the game for slightly cheaper than buying it twice.
Example: MS sells MCC on both for £30 each, or £50 for both, and they each get £25 cut.
Because honestly, as someone who does buy twice, the second purchase always comes when it is heavily discounted. Meaning someone got £30 and another got <£15.
@Richnj Yeah that would be good - and of all the company's I suppose it's most likely MS would work with Nintendo. I'm just not sure Nintendo would. Much as I love Nintendo they are tight-arse with deals and give-a-ways.
