Quite frankly, this has been a long time coming, but Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition has finally returned to the Switch eShop in Australia and New Zealand.
You might remember that the game was pulled from digital stores in both countries back in September, just a week or so after its launch. The game was removed as a result of online multiplayer connection issues for players in the region, with all sales being suspended "until the issue has been addressed".
Amazingly, it's taken a whopping seven months for these issues to be addressed, and those in Australia and New Zealand can now buy and play the game once again as intended.
We came away with mixed feelings on this one when we played it for review last year; it might not be a must-play Final Fantasy game, then, but we're glad fans can finally jump in and see what it's all about.

Its pretty wack that they had to completely remove it due to all the issues.
It’s a fantastic game if you like dungeon crawlers, been playing for the past two weeks. A real shame local multiplayer didn’t make the cut.
@MorganWhoop I could understand if this was an online multiplayer-only title, but that is just an optional way to play this game.
I heard a lot of the stuff from the original game got axed in the remaster, or no longer works as it used to.
What fans? This is a bad port
Now you too can experience the mediocrity that is Crystal Chronicles remastered.
If you're interested in getting this game, my recommendation is to get a GameCube copy and ignore the remastered version.
It took me playing all of 10 min of the free demo to realize how disastrous this "remaster" is.
Now if only the region lock was removed.
I never knew it was removed. SE should port FF Explorers to the Switch.
My interest died when they removed the option to travel on the caravan together with friends.
Sure you can do dungeons together but the story and your village is a solo experience and it's not fun.
@VoidofLight Well, it was a Gamecube game build around its local multiplayer capabilities, with the main gimmick being that you played it via your GBA (So you have your own menu on your handheld).
This port does not support local multiplayer...
And from what i've heard, it only tracks progress for those hosting the online session, thus killing all interest in randomly joining one. IF you could join one in the first place, because its multiplayer was also region locked...
It's a port that completely failed to capture the essence of what the original was all about.
Oh, and most of the new content (Costumes, weapons) was launch day DLC with a pretty hefty price tag.
The thing was a disaster all around.
@Einherjar Dang. It sucks that they destroyed the game like that.
So when this game was on sale a little while back I finally caved and bought it, knowing full well that I wasn't going to enjoy it but I wanted to support the game nonetheless.
What I did afterwards was look online for GBA chargers. I got exrtemely lucky and found a store in my own country that had 3 lying around for 5 bucks a piece. So I got those so that I can enjoy the game with my two boys.
I am hoping for some added luck in finding a fourth GBA/GBA SP somewhere, as I got all the cables lying around, but I am already content with being able to play 3-player games.
And honestly, the graphics look worse than the original. There is something about the eyes in the remastered models. The original have more charm. And my eyes adjust well enough to the blurry textures of the original after a short playtime, extra dungeon and skins be darned.
Now... IF they decide to finally add couch co-op like they should, I will go right ahead to the remaster as it is way easier to set up, but I am still content with being able to play the original for now.
@Aerona compared to the superiority of emulating a Gen 6 CGI-filled RPG on my laptop's integrated Intel graphics? Yeah, I'm heartbroken.😏 Got the remaster for months now and I've yet to regret it.
who cares its a awful port of a poor game
@suikoden while the original is no Suikoden, poor it was not. It was just a hassle ti set up.
