Update: Taito and ININ Games have announced that both the physical and digital editions of DariusBurst Another Chronicle EX+ have been delayed on Switch and PS4 across Europe and North America. The game will now launch on 27th July, rather than 11th June as originally planned.
Original Article (Wed 12th May, 2021 22:00 BST): For shoot 'em up fans the Nintendo Switch is a goldmine - fun entries in the genre, old and new, are all over the eShop and in some cases there are physical editions. DariusBurst: Another Chronicle EX+ will be joining the ranks in the West on 11th June, with publisher ININ Games also teaming up with Taito to release a physical retail version.
As you can see in the trailer above, this'll retain the dual-display feel of the original arcade, or 'ultra-broad', as they're calling it. The arcade came out in 2010, which itself was a follow-up to a PSP original in 2009. The original team - Pyramid Inc. - is behind this version, which is a nice touch.
If you're having a sense of déjà vu, it may be because we shared a rather detailed review of this one back in March following its release in Japan. We share lots of info on what's new, and tellingly what's not, in that assessment.
So, is this one for the Switch wishlist?

WHOOP! Can't wait
Just so possible customers are informed, Strictly Limited Games are selling Darius Cozmis Revalation, a package which includes DARIUSBURST Another Chronicle EX+, in addition to G-DARIUS HD.
They still have some amount of stock left.

The retail release doesn't include G-DARIUS HD, but is also only £30 compared to the £52 for the SLG release.
Dual-display? Oh I get it, that's why they're showing it with an extra wide aspect ratio.
Sheesh, and I thought it was finally another shooter that wasn't going to be just a vertical slit of gameplay on my TV. Instead, it's a horizontal slit 😅
If i remember it wright Darius was more fun to me that R-Type.
But I would really like a Gradius/Parodius Collection
I have the SLG version pre-ordered already but I'm just happy to see STG's on store shelves.
Honestly really glad to see this isn't only getting a limited physical release. It's already so expensive to get a physical copy of Dariusburst on any console, so having a cheap and accessable version is very nice to see
Hopefully they make a lot of retail cartridges so I can pick it up at a more competitive price in the future. While I think these games are fun, they are usually way too expensive a value proposition for me, as I am not an enthusiast collector.
@DockEllisD Sagaia GB is not a port/remix of Darius II like the western versions of Sagaia. It's more like a remix of Darius I. It's also one of the only official Darius games without branching paths.
Still waiting for a sale on the Darius Arcade Collection.
Bought this from Japan eShop quite sometimes already. Really love the series. I have it on Steam and PSV as well.
A good collection indeed, may import it at some point this year.
And it's still a massive rip-off imo.
It still baffles me why they chose a standalone version of the Arcade Version when you can get Chronicle Savior, which has infinitely more content on top of featuring the Arcade Version for the same asking price.
If you also game on PC, do yourself a favor and get Chronicle Savior instead.
It's not only a better deal, on PC, it also supports a dual monitor setup for the Arcade mode, so it actually fills the screen instead of squishing it onto one (All other modes not featured in this switch release are single screen modes regardless).
Or get any other console version. Just as good, but true dual monitor support is just a sight to behold.
I already bought G-Darius from the Japanese Eshop. I'll get this when it comes west. The aspect ratio doesn't bother me, I've had a lot of fun with Darius 2/ Sagaia but I wish they added some border art. It seems to be a very bare bones port, especially compared to G-Darius. There is hope for updates though as G-Darius is receiving a Version 2 as a free update later this year.
@PJOReilly 😭
Remember playing Darius Twin on the SNES a long time ago.
Good times. Glad the Darius series still lives on!
They should have a Sale on the existing collections to make up for it 😜
Anyone know why they delayed it?
@Slowdive
G-Darius HD is sitting right there on the Japanese eshop next to Dariusburst.
@Prizm
Just wait until you see the original Darius on screen. 😈
So my question about the delays on these digital releases...They’re shooters. How is there a delay? How does one need a localisation team? Just put multiple languages into options menu when you program the thing and off it goes, no?
