Bandai Namco's Pokémon-themed one-on-one brawler Pokkén Tournament is getting ever closer to its Japanese release, and the company has now released an image of what the final cabinet will look like.
The image shows that a control guide has been placed above the screen - which will prove handy when you forget which button to press, we'd assume - and you can also see the unique controller that has been developed for the game. It is hard-wired into the cabinet.
Pokkén Tournament is a Japanese exclusive at present, and we've yet to hear if it will be making its way to Nintendo consoles in the future.

At least it looks better then the Wiiu controller!
Looks snazzy.
I'll take one!
I'll be expecting one of these at my doorstep for my Club Nintendo elite status reward. Get to shipping it, Reggie.
looks pretty fun. i will have to check it out for sure if/when it comes to NA. plus i'm dying to play that new star wars game(battle pod i think?).
They way that they're setup could mirror TV/Gamepad use for 2 players in a Wii U version no?
Putting a gamepad on the arcade cabinet was a great idea. For casual players, the familiar control scheme will make the arcade game less intimidating. For serious gamers, there's no need to transition to a different control setup when the game inevitably hits consoles.
Aw sweet mama, those are beautiful!!!
??? there is no better way to play a fighting game like tekken or ssf than with an arcade stick and 6 buttons, so why change the best way to play it. Looks good but you know...
@Sugar_Crunch_BD Not everyone can play with an arcade stick. I have a lot of problems with such a device; it is clunky and slow, but that's only my experiences. If people can use sticks, more power to them, but as far as for me, I welcome this pretty much.
sticks are for arcade games, not gamepads. this is ridiculous. people has been using sticks since the damn 70s and suddenly IT'S HARD?
Gamers are just getting worse everyday.
@Dr_Corndog "Casual" gamers, as you insult them, have been using arcade sticks for more than 40 years. Stop drinking the game industry's kool-aid.
That is a sexy cabinet. I might have to copy those dimensions for my next build....
@minotaurgamer With Arcades on the decline the number of people that use arcade sticks on the regular is shrinking. I'd say it is a fair assumption that many gamers under 20 either have not played with an arcade stick or have done so rarely. That would make them least likely to default to a stick. That being said I'm designing a hit box for this when it hits the wiiu.
japan gets all the cool game idea stuff
@Ryu_Niiyama whos that in your profile picture? reminds me of one of the perfume girls
No stick? Still looks cool though.
@midnafanboy Will you guys just stop ranting of how bad the Wii U controller is? Its got buttons and its not even "gimmicky" unlike the Wii. If you don't want to use the gamepad, then use the pro controller. What's the big deal?
@Sugar_Crunch_BD
You're completely right. I understand that arcades have been on the decline for 20 years, and gamers these days are wimps about gamepads vs arcade sticks, but fighting games were meant for arcade sticks. It's like eating a hot dog without mustard and ketchup; it's practically a sin.
@Artwark
My only real complaint with the Wii U controller (the gamepad and the pro controller) is that the ZL and ZR buttons are digital rather than analog triggers. Other than that, they're fantastic (and essentially copies of the competitors' basic controllers).
There's a Namco centrer near me, might check this out.
@Yoshis95 Your hunch was correct. It is Kashiyuka from Perfume. Been a Daifan for about 9 years now. Went to see them in New York last year. I was looking for a Nocchi gif but this one was too funny to pass up.
@Ryu_Niiyama lol yeah a good profile picture makes someone a someone instead of just another random user to me since it stands out. lol I used to listen to perfume to help keep me from raging when playing planetside 2. XD
This is what arcade cabinets look like now? Dang, that is slick.
