I was on the fence about this one and I'm glad to hear it holds up but at $40 it's still too pricy for what you get, especially considering that the upcoming Sega Genesis collection with 20 more games is going to cost $10 less.
This does sound interesting and worth a look when the price comes down a bit. But was the developer so afraid that gamers wouldn't accept playing as a female protagonist that they had to make him really a boy, just body-swapped with a girl? It's an odd choice, otherwise, but I guess if it works....
This is a fun little arcade racer with excellent music. It's a great fit for mobile devices and I can't wait to learn more about how well it holds up on the Switch as a $20 title.
This looks fun! Kind of like Sky Rogue, which is nothing deep, but it's fun to play in short bursts, and this one looks like it will be--wait... $30???
Toki Tori is a game I've purchased on nearly every system it's been released on because I know I like it and it's usually pretty inexpensive. I will definitely give this a try. I'm not skeptical, I'm SWAPtical!
Releasing just two months after Fortnite on the Switch probably didn't help matters any, as well as the fact that the whole "Day of the Dead" aesthetic is a love-it or hate-it proposition (I love it but I wouldn't base a whole game around it).
@Joker13z I thought it was closer to $34.99 at launch, but I could easily be mistaken. And I guess $40 in 2007 dollars is pretty close to $50 in 2018 dollars, but the real point of comparison is Okami HD, a remake of a 2006 original, which released recently at $20 (instead of $50).
I have to admire Nintendo's chutzpah at re-releasing an 11-year-old DS game and charging 50% more for it now than it did when the original game was new.
$50 seems a little steep for an updated mobile game, but it does seem to offer local multiplayer via 3-4 player splitscreen which could be fun. It doesn't hurt that racers are so thin on the ground for the Switch. Whatever happened to that Burnout: Paradise port we were supposed to be getting?
I don't see much difference between paying $30 for a physical version of a free-to-play game and paying $40 for a physical version of a $10 downloadable game, to be perfectly honest. Neither is for me.
My preference would be for a subscription service with thousands (or tens of thousands of games) and then a front end populated by content from HG101 which helps me find what to play next.
To be immediately followed up with a new Labo kit that includes a TENS massager, an ice pack and a cardboard arm brace for all of the tennis elbow and torn ligaments this thing is going to cause. ("EA Sports Active", never forget).
It's great that they're finishing the story but spoiler alert: the final two episodes will be made in Flash featuring stick figures and .wav files found on the Internet.
As someone who had a C-64 instead of an NES back in the day, it still cracks me up that there's a Great Giana Sisters game on a Nintendo console (much less TWO Nintendo consoles!).
I would pay money (not a subscription, but a one time app fee) for Steam Link on my Switch: something that would allow me to stream the hundreds (thanks, Humble Bundle!) of Steam games I have on my PC, directly to my Switch. Steam/Nvidia should get on that. It wouldn't go over big with Nintendo, though, probably as it would decimate eShop sales.
"Animated Jigsaws: Japanese Women" sounds like a horribly misogynistic and possibly racist direction for the "Saw" movies to take, even by the standards of that franchise. Interesting that they went the animation route this time, though.
Hmm. Project Giant Robot eventually came out, but as a Labo title. So I guess Mario 128 is confirmed for Nintendo Labo in 2019... though you won't actually get to play it until 2020 — after you've finished folding 128 individual, separate cardboard Marios.
The bundle with all the DLC is $35 on Steam, so $40 for the Switch version seems reasonable. I approve of the pricing for this port. I have no idea if the game is worth $40, just glad to see there isn't a huge Switch mark-up on this one.
Considering that the Switch struggles to play some of these games at 30fps now I wouldn't get your hopes up at playing any of these in VR (where you essentially need two displays running at at least 60fps) unless the Switch somehow gets 4x more powerful when you put it in the face harness.
Just yelp for help! And yes, this really needs two players — particularly given the audience and the fact that the show is built entirely around teamwork — or what is the point? I hope you are able to play as the Kitten Catastrophe Crew. Mayor Humdinger is the best character on the show.
It's no F-Zero but at least now you can be a balance HERO with the Switch re-release of this nine-year-old WiiWare classic and... and... sigh. I can't even pretend to not be disappointed by this.
