After what feels like a literal eternity, the time has finally come. Untitled Goose Game has now been given a confirmed Switch release date of 20th September. Get in.
We've been waiting to hear more about this one ever since it was first announced back in August last year; with a charming dose of humour and an adorable honky protagonist, the game seems to have captured the hearts of players everywhere. Luckily, a new gameplay trailer has waddled onto the scene (see above) to share the good news.
So, let's give you some facts. The game will be launching on Switch, as well as PC and Mac via the Epic Game Store, on that 20th September release date. It'll be playable in English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Simplified Chinese, and Korean, and will be available from the eShop in the Americas, Europe/Australia, and Japan.
Pricing will be set at $19.99 (EU pricing still to be confirmed), although a limited-time discount will be available at launch taking it to $14.99.
The 20th of September is turning out to be a mightly busy day, with this, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, LEGO Jurassic World, Ni no Kuni, and the Nintendo Switch Lite all arriving at the same time. Good luck, folks.
Give us a 'HONK!' in the comments if you'll be picking this one up next month.

Welp, that’s 15 dollars I’ll be spending the second I can pre-load
I’m glad they kept the name.
Of course this little jerk was gonna show up in September. What other month would he show up?
I'm not sure this game is meant to be a joke or not, but it looks fun. But September 20th?! What the HONK were they thinking?!
Wooh yeah! Can't wait for this!!! I want to be able to put the HONK button on autofire, though! HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK...
So is it still being called untitled goose game or is that a placeholder still.
I might grab it at launch for the sale but dunno when I'll get around to playing it. Probably not right away because there's too many games coming out.
I'll wait for a review and (probably) a price drop. It looks cute, and the game really appeals to my inner troublemaker, but I can't imagine there's a ton of content here.
OF COURSE IT'S IN SEPTEMBER
September 20 is going to be a bonanza
I'll wait for the inevitable physical release, but this is one I'm looking forward to.
Hell yes! GOTY! Goose of the year!
September is getting unmanageable...! It's cool and all, but at the same time I can't help thinking Nintendo took their eye off the ball and should have got some of this stuff landing in that horrendous first half of 2019.
Yeah, there is definitely an overwhelming amount of games. I say bring it on because I've been looking forward to this. Heck, I might even want it more than LoZ.
It seems like the goat version but yet this is a duck..
September 20: The day our wallets band together and rise up in protest.
Also September 20: The day that protest is swiftly crushed when we rip them open and take all their money.
Links Awakening pre-order cancelled
"... honky protagonist..."
That's! ...uh... Featherist! Yeah, that's the word! Down with the Featherists! (GEDDIT?!)
@KingBowser86 - You're done. Feel shame.
HONK! if September 20th (or 20th September) will make you smile while your wallet cries in a corner!
Between this, Switch Lite, Link's Awakening, and Ni No Kuni, it should be a good day.
This is the greatest game trailer in years.
September 20th is really becoming a HONKing day, isn't it? We seriously need a name for all the good stuffs coming out that day.
DEFINITELY GETTING IT.
ALL THE HONKS
I knew this had to be coming soon because a wild goose followed me home from the park last week and hung out in my front yard for a while. I think he wanted my son’s hat.
At first I wondered, why is everyone so excited over a game where you just control a normal goose in a normal world?
Now I realize, why isn't everyone excited over a game where you control a normal goose in a normal world?
Honky bless.
@commentlife The eleven likes on your comment make it harsher.
@Paraka I'll be here 'til Thursday! Try the salad bar! Lol
Does anyone ever read the children book "The Day the Goose got Loose" it is really funny. This game makes me think of that book.
@LaytonPuzzle27 I never heard of it tell me more..
I’m getting it but bummed it comes out same day as Zelda. I highly doubt I will have finished daemon x machina by then but omai I’ll be busy with games for a while!!!
I genuinely can't decide whether to get this or Zelda first.
Can't wait to take a gander at this one when it comes out.
Honk Zelda. I'm honking getting this instead.
Is that British dollars or American dollars?
Well definitely be my game of the year for the Switch.
@ShinyUmbreon The story is about a goose that loose on the farm causing mischief everywhere almost like this game. If you want to get the book look up the illustrator Steven Kellogg.
this game gives me and the lab boys the giggles.
lets hope all this hype does not turn out to be a wild GOOSE chase. Im really excited
The expectations for this game are huge from everyone. Hope it doesn’t disappoint.
Game Of The Year without a doubt.
I'm down with that.
Dang that's a loaded day! This and Links Awakening are all I care about though. Can't wait to see Arlo's reaction to this. Lol
Noooooooooooooo not September.
I mean whatever, maybe that just means it'll be on sale by the time I get around to playing it in February or so. Still, this month is so crowded.
I think I may need to get this. I think I may need to wait for a review first though.
Who needs a Switch Lite when you can just download this game 10 times...?
Yay! I don't need any more games at the moment but this one looks like it'll be a hoot, er HONK, to play with my young kids. The base concept looks charming enough, but hopefully it has enough depth to stretch the mischief out and justify that price tag.
GOTY. I loved the demo.
Now this is hipster gaming!
This looks like the sort of game that Super Rare Games will eventually issue a physical release for, so I'll hold out for that.
@Likethepear : The Brits don't do dollars...?
But is this like Donut City? Good, but very short?
Did you notice the little piano riff at the beginning sounds exactly like the honk of a goose? Brilliant.
September is going to be one of those months gaming historians will write about in the future.
September is looking good for Switch games. Link’s Awakening, Castle Crashers Remastered, and now this game.
@Totaldude911 I didn't notice that, but as a piano player I listened again. That is great, good ear noticing that!
If the game play is half as good as the visuals, this is going to be great!
@tseliot It does resemble donut city, I actually just played that game this summer and loved it. While I thought the game play was innovative and the dialog funny, I kinda liked it being short. I think if donut city was longer, it would have worn thin.
I have high hopes for this game!
Whoa, did anyone watch the Push Me Pull You trailer? House House apparently also developed that multiplayer game for PS4 and it looks like a disturbing mashup of Genital Jousting and that human centipede horror movie I would never watch. But they somehow made it look PG rated, or appropriate for 10 year olds or whatever..
On topic, I'm excited for this Goose game! I'll probably play it and Zelda on Sept 20th.
Hopefully there is an option to use the Japanese voice acting. The English goose sounds a little flat and unemotional.
HONK! Been waiting for this since forever.
Honk! This and Zelda same day? Sorry bank manager - my massive overdraft is going nowhere.
Epic Store on PC? Well, not gonna buy that one. But on Switch for that price, probably. Guess there wont be a physical version. Probably doesnt make much sense to the dev.
I’m really excited for this. I just love the idea of being a goose and your only objective is to terrorize the town.
why are people so exited for this? i don't see the hype or appeal
Looks like my kinda game
