Well, here's an interesting one for you. A new Taiwanese rating has been spotted which suggests BioShock: The Collection is planned for release on Nintendo Switch.
BioShock: The Collection released on rival platforms back in 2016 and contains the original BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite. The retrofuturistic FPS series has yet to appear on Switch, of course, so a collection of these three titles would be a great way to introduce the franchise to Nintendo's hungry audience.
The rating itself can be found on this site; all three games are listed individually for Switch, but there's also a rating for the Collection. No release dates or other juicy info has been included. Here's a screenshot of just a couple of the listings:
Everyone and their cat seems to be expecting another, broad Nintendo Direct soon (as always), but this would be something ideally suited for an announcement in such a presentation. Perhaps an official announcement is just around the corner?
We'll leave you with an official description of the collection taken from the PS4 release, just in case it does indeed make its way to Switch:
Return to the cities of Rapture and Columbia and experience the award-winning BioShock franchise like never before. BioShock: The Collection retells the epic journeys of the BioShock universe beautifully remastered in 1080p. BioShock: The Collection contains all single-player content from BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite, all single-player add-on content, the “Columbia’s Finest” pack, and Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock, featuring Ken Levine and Shawn Robertson.

Even if it is on 2 separated releases I will buy them instantly if everything is on the cartridges!
This would be pretty cool. I’m in the minority, I believe, in thinking BioShock Infinite is the best in the series. I think that game is a masterpiece. That said, the first one is also in the same category. The setting, atmosphere, OST, and of course, the characters, make the game an unforgettable experience.
@Zuljaras here's hoping, even though I just KNOW they will be digital in some way.
@Nerdfather1 I actually liked infinite a lot. I thought the story was pretty good.
I would definitely buy this.
This is one I've been waiting on from day one. Gimme that Metroid Prime Trilogy and my 2017 wishlist is just about complete...
Wow. This would be a day one if true. The first one among my favourite titles ever.
@Nerdfather1 I love BioShock 1 and 2 but I also think that Infinite is the best. The story and characters are just perfect!
Now would you kindly announce the games already!
Direct confirmed? This would be awesome if true!
@vyseofhr played it on PC, would love it on the Switch.
YEEEESSSS!! Day one buy if it's true! 🤞
While these games weren't part of a personnal wish list I want to see happenning on the Switch (#1 would be Xcom 2), this is definitely something I'd be interested in, even if I already have the games on PC. Playing them on the Switch would be pretty cool. Provided, of course, that the price would be right (which I doubt, this is the Switch after all, but let's see...)
Bioshock Infinite is awful. I never understood the acclaim.
Never played one. What are they? FPS?
As usual, I'll believe it when I hear it in official form, but needless to say, Bioshock trilogy is all the way up there with FFXIII and Dishonored series among my perennial Switch port wishes. One of my favourite franchises nowadays, and that's coming from someone very lukewarm towards FPS gameplay prior to discovering it. But then again, the combat - while remarkable for its diversity of options and solutions in itself - was never the main draw of these games for me; it was the sheer load of exploration, and discovering the plot and tons of lore through said exploration. Even with the not-too-shabby size of the locations, it's still impressive how such generally linear games (alongside their predecessors of System Shock franchise and successors like Dishonored and Prey) could deliver exploration and progress vibes compared to that of RPG genre. And of course, the stories and characters filling out this crazy multiverse are a treat in themselves, too.
This would be amazing! I never had the chance to play Infinite. I've heard the mixed reviews, but want to check it out for myself.
@Archius9 the structure is like an FPS, but is heavy story based, with a fantastic atmosphere and adventure elements. The first one is a milestone and one of the best game of x360/ps3 (IMHO), the second one is forgettable, the third one return to be a fantastic game with a new story and setting... but I personally love and will buy again only the first one on switch
Please Nintendo we need a direct. Make it happen Nintendo
In before someone says they've played all of them years ago and they're only $2 in the PS store....
Bioshocks one of the last big hitters of last gen missing, this'd be nice.
Cool if true. I wouldn’t buy them though. Played them many times in my PC already.
Bloody hell I already have them.
Oh well, it's not like i dont already have doubles of some games
..ahem
@Kaori-chan 3 is even more creepy in my opinion, because the evil lies just under the surface of paradise, and then add in all the twisted religious stuff, and there’s a constant dichotomy of calm and chaos.
Gasp, 2K doing something on switch!!!
I own this on PS4 but yeah i will double dip as all 3 are that good.
Please, yes! I've never played anything from the series, but it's one I've wanted to play for many years
@nhSnork It was the brilliant Art Deco for me. I just kept looking at all of it... and sometimes I would shoot something.
Excellent, I’d love to play these on Switch, only played the first
I wasn't a massive fan of the political side of this series (then again, it was the bad guys view I didn't like so maybe I did, but the hero had no input), but the atmosphere and setting was fun and the online if it's available was really good in number 2.
Edit: I see they specifically state single player content. Having played through 1 and 2 already on ps3, I might not bother.
Please let this be true!! PLEASE!!
Or should I say "would you kindly".
So cool. Bioshock is an amazing IP. I would buy Infinite on the Switch even though I own it already on the PC.
I've actually been thinking when they'd finally do it. I mean, it's a ps3 era game, so it can't be that hard to port, the IP is very popular but kind of hard to continue I guess, and the Nintendo audience may have entirely missed it, while Switch is much larger than just the Nintendo audience, and offers new possibilities (gyro aim and portability at the very least).
Bioshock trilogy is a magic bean, and Switch is some very fertile ground.
Bioshock on the go? As somebody who platinumed the first on the PS4, please take my money! If it does happen, anyway.
The Bioshock franchise are the best FPS I've ever played (with the exception of Bioshock 2. Not a bad game, but it being more focused on combat with its mechanics didn't really sit well with me, and didn't care for the story). My only concern is how well the the games will run, and if the Switch ports are going to be last gen or the actual remasters. Again, if it does happen.
Omg, I don’t care if these are digital only, I want them
@Zeldawakening
Bioshock is from 2k/Take Two, with no involvement from EA.
This is another port I wanted but wasn't expecting. Can't wait for the Direct. Now all I need is for Fallout 3 or 4 to come to Switch and I'll be satisfied
Great news guys:-)
Hope ea will also follow with the mass effect triology (not only me2 this time)
Well i think ea will earn aloooooot of money on this port
@Realnoize if you are looking for a game similar to Xcom2 I've heard Mario + Rabbits is a pretty good strategy game
@MuhBael and of course Conker's bad fur day
Next Direct will have alot of suprises. Also get ready for one game on the card with a huge download.
I would be okay with just the third one but porting all three is even better.
For me, Bioshock Infinite is one of the best games with deep story, good character, gameplay, visual,....., and about the super confused ending make this game unforgetable for me. I love Infinite but not completed 2 DLC Burial at Sea, and never play 2 first game in the series, but if all of them come to Switch, i will buy them. Haha, think about me play Bioshock Infinite on the go, controll Booker with Elizabeth aka best supporter make me very excited
I'd be excited about this! Got through most of the first game on 360 back in the day, but wound up selling the console and haven't touched the BioShock series since, despite all the wonderful things I've heard. This would be a very welcome addition to the Switch library.
Day one buy, if it happens. I love these games. I have finished them all, but i would definitely finish them all again!
Wow! If this is confirmed then we really are getting some awesome franchise on Switch! I dabbled in this but had to fight my kids for the computer so didn’t get very far, it was always one I wanted to explore more of.
Decent games, but not worth playing again.
Dammit! I had given up on Bioshock and was able to get a good nights sleep loll
What an awesome collection to have for Switch. Maybe I'll finally beat the last battle on Infinite.
I missed out on these. Definitely buying this if it comes.
@mist Wow! It took 8 comments for someone to make a ‘would you kindly’ reference. Then I carried on reading and found you are the ONLY person to make a reference. You get kudos nerd points from me good Sir!
Now, Nintendo... would you kindly announce a date for the Direct?
Please let this be real. Please.
And I just replayed this on PS4 thinking it would never see the light of day on switch. Ugh
Wow! That would be an amazing and important addition to the Switch library!! I loved all 3 games!!!
If this turns out to be true, I'll be the happiest man alive. Mostly all of my favourite games of all time have now graced the mighty Switch. Now I'll just have to hope for Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Serious Sam and Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. But that's almost impossible.
And yes, goddamit, Bioshock Infinite is the best in the series!!
Absolutely love the Bioshock games, fantastic news that they're coming to Switch.
While I didn't get a new console betwwen Gamecube, PS2 and New 3ds XL, I knew I was missing out on BioShock. This can be purchased by reflex alone, no other thinking is required to perform this action.
I finished these games on ps3 and ps4. Day one for me. Gonna play them again. Love these games.
Good games but I've done 1 and 3 and part of 2. Would dip in again. 3 was good but I was ready to finish it by the time I did. Bo wish to play any of them again.
Yes please! I’ll be all over this!
Yes please. I need an excuse to go back and play all of these
Yes please! I'm not normally into FPS games, but these deviate enough from the typical formula that'd I'd definitely give them a try. If these never made the jump to the Switch, I was going to get the collection on another platform (When I ever pick up a Sony machine).
I don't I would buy them a second time but the first is one of my favorite games. 2 was a meh. I thought 3 didn't have the magic the first one did. I think it was the difference in environment.
Sounds like I’m buying these games for the third time...
@VoodooTrumpet I definitely think 1, especially, and even 2, are better games.
I think Levigne crumbled under the pressure that Bioshock 1 put him and Infinite under. Hence the reason why the game has all these ideas but not real coherent enough to be played out. And why after that game, he downsized his studio and why we've not seen anything from him since.
But yeah, I'd buy the full collection in an instant on Switch.
Fantastic news. Honestly I keep wondering where all the PS3 and X360 ports are considering the system is easily powerful enough to run them.
In particular Mass Effect trilogy, Dead Space, GTA IV and V, Red Dead Redemption, Half Life 2, Portal, Dishonored, Deus Ex: HR should be brought over.
I think it won't be a complete collection but sold separately. They are around 25gb on pc a piece.
OMG I wants it so bad, please don't be playing with my emotions 🙏
Don't play with my heart man.
For god's sake lets hope all 3 games are included on one cartridge without a download required.
Would be awesome. BioShock 1&2 were pretty great, wouldn't mind double dipping here.
Never played them but i have heard generally good things about them so if this is coming to the switch i will probably grab the collection
One of the 3 games I listed in the 'Nintendo ports we'd love to see' article! Already played it on my ps4 but I'll gladly fork out more money to play it portable. Please please say it's true!
I would purchase this instantly. Such a good series!
Wow, we have Metro Exodus, Bioshock Collection and Red Dead Redemption 2. Now all we need is Fallout 3 or 4 and Dead Space Collection and I'll be a happy man
@Mikey_205 Oh man i am having such a great experience with the Dishonored games!! Finished the first one currently playing Death of the Outsider and then Dishonored 2 is next!! Great gaming! Glad I discovered this franchise! 😊
Just need some confirmation
I like water so bio 1 and 2 are probably the most atmospheric games I have ever played, it’s such a great setting. The 3rd I loved equally. I found the shooting much better and it offered another unique setting x x x bio shock 2 doesn’t get that much love but I think it Beats 1 As a game but not by much! X x memorable games in a sea of brown grey shooters from that era x
@WiltonRoots Noooo, they are free! I'm sure they have been on game for gold at least once so there!!!
(for anybody that has not seen me post for a bit. I'm being overwhelmingly sarcastic.)
@MrMetroid No way. Would love it, but no way. Largest card is 32gb at the moment. BioShock 1 and 2 are 25gb each on pc. Maybe with the introduction of the 64gb card i keep hearing about? Let's hope so. Already finished all three 2 times, but would triple dip day one.
I would triple dip for this (I have "Infinite" on PS3 and Steam).
I hope it gets a full physical release, I would hate to have it a big download.
@FoxMcCloud I am sure they will do a lot of work compressing and optimizing the files for the Switch which will likely reduce the file sizes considerably. With the PC and PS4/X1 versions they have to store higher resolution textures than they will be using on the Switch and so on. That said I still have a hard time believing they will be able to squeeze all of this on a single physical game card.
FINALLY! Now bring on Mass Effect trilogy you idiots
@daebiya
Mass Effect is from EA not Take Two.
@Zuljaras : The PC versions are collectively 70GB. They can surely squeeze all three games to a 64GB cartridge on Switch.
Surely charging a premium for such a physical release that allows the flexibility of both TV/portable play with no further storage requirements (as that would add to the overall cost to the consumer regardless) is a great value proposition, no?
I'd be totally down for this. I've only played through Infinite, but when Bioshock 1 was new, I remember watching my friend lost in on the final boss, then picking up the controller and beating it myself somehow, despite having never played the game before. XD
Probably couldn't repeat the feat now.
@Heavyarms55 : I had a similar experience back in 1996 or so where my friend was over and I was stuck on the boss at the end of Commander Keen 3.
Anyone remember that ill-fated iOS port of Bioshock that was kinda ok-ish? At that time I imagined how much fun a game of that calibre would be in the palms of our hands...
And if these rumours turn out to be true, this is going to be awesome and finally give us Bioshock in the palm of our hands!
I hope there is a physical copy too.
I think it is super sweet that all these games are being released again. I completely missed the entire era in terms of gaming, was busy with other stuff, and to be able to enjoy the best those times had to offer now... Super sweet.
Day one if true & physical.
I won't be buying these digitally.
@Nerdfather1 I agree, Infinite was easily my favorite of the three.
Very cool.
But IMO I can't play a, Shock, game with a controller these day. It has to be Mouse and Keyboard for me! I'm eagerly awaiting the System Shock 1 remake and System Shock 3!
http://systemshock.com/
https://otherside-e.com/wp/games/system-shock-3/
P.S. System Shock 2 is the best, Shock, game! ;P
@MuhBael
Yeah, I know. I already have it with all its DLC and it's almost 100% completed. It's quite a good game, indeed along the same lines as Xcom.
But still, I would double-dip and buy it a second time if Xcom 2 would hit the Switch. Even at full price. It's one of those rare games I don't mind paying that much for.
I would only buy physical on the Nintendo, otherwise I'll stick with it on Xbox 360 and PS3, this will more than likely be digital only, the games arent properly compressed when ported, the company is too cheap to pay for a proper switch physical port.
So unless they compress the game files like they are supposed too this time like they did on PS3 and Xbox 360, you get the picture..
@Antraxx777 like when this something would charge at you several minutes after you dismissed it as a dead body?😆
I would buy it in an instant: Bio 1 is the first game I ever finished start to finish, in all my years of gaming. and I am not really into shooters.
Day 1 purchase for me. One of my all-time favorite series.
Would be awesome, but no way are they putting all 3 games on the card!
