@smashboy2000 The Switch screen is 720p, but with PSVR you will be getting the docked 1080p picture. Plus the PSVR has a better quality screen and better optics.
It's cool that they were able to get something that looks a lot like Virtua Racing to run on the GBA, but it's not even close to the 32X version. Compare the draw distance and frame rate, and that's just a start.
I'm supposing it will come with all puzzles that had to be "downloaded" for the DS. NIntendo DS Wi-Fi Connection was shut down by the time I bought Last Specter...
When it was new, Zelda II was Zelda. The series might have continued as a side-scrolling platformer, or not. Only in retrospect does it seem out of place.
I may get this one, especially considering it has only two buttons. Makers of the four-button layout usually cant them to 45 degrees, which I feel is too much.
Everyone knows Apple users will spend anything for the hardware, but they're cheap doodoo heads when it comes to buying software. Super Mario Run should sell much more on Android.
If A/B are mapped to B/Y, I can't play that way. I know many players somehow use one thumb for both buttons, but I always used two fingers for A and B.
I have coins expiring at the end of the month, so I'll probably use them for the 3DS theme. I wish the coins could be traded for the full price of a game, and not just discounts.
The slots on the back could be intakes for the vents on the top. Analog triggers would be good; you can't have proper ports of some Gamecube games without 'em.
Dual screen made sense only on the DS and 3DS. With Switch, Nintendo is stating unequivocally that you will have the same experience on-the-go as at home: one screen. I would not be surprised if that meant there would be no touchscreen, as most people don't have touchscreen HDTV's.
I think younger players used to the micro-buttons on modern handhelds would be surprised by the large buttons on an NES controller, not even set at an angle!
Herzog Zwei on 3DS please. It would be great to have two player with a full screen and no peeking. And 3D depth to the landscapes and mech flight would be awesome!
Putting this on Xbox costs Microsoft nothing. They may pull it at Nintendo's request, no harm done. And Nintendo would file today if they could find cause, such as unapproved use of their IP. Even the inevitable YouTube "Look, I'm playing SMB on XBox" would probably not be enough, depending on monitization.
In the past, I looked to Club Nintendo as a place to get physical stuff available no where else. Now, except for the Miitomo stuff and Zelda Picross, everything is always available to anyone in the eShop.
I'm feeling cheap today. Axiom Verge and Picross 3D 2 seem overpriced, and wouldn't Skyward Sword be cheaper on disc? (Just checked Amazon, never mind). Still, if Picross 3D 2 goes retail, I'll get it from the bargain bin.
@PlanetaryNebulae You're right, it looks more like a nebula than a galaxy. If it had an animated, spinning galaxy on it, that might be something. I prefer recognizable IP on my Nintendo consoles, like Mario or Kirby. New 3DS Mario edition with interchangeable covers!
It was just a re-skinned Metroid II. They could have used Metroid as inspiration to create something original, something that might have seen clearance for the e-shop, but instead just copied an already existing game. Projects have been shut down for much less infringement than this.
NES pixels were just a bit too wide to be called square. When they are made square, the game screen is not quite as wide as 4:3, leading to all the narrow gameplay videos. The 3DS can play SNES (and theoretically NES) games in "pixel perfect" mode because it has the same vertical resolution, not including overscan. Fitting those pixels evenly on a 1080p screen is a bit more problematic.
Are you supposed to walk, and does the app use the phone's accelerometers to tell if you're walking? It would know if you are cheating by using a car or bicycle, no matter what speed.
Boulder Dash had the miner apparently walking through the maze, with boulders rolling down when the dirt/treasure below was cleared. There are additional elements here, but the base game play is exactly the same, down to the rocks rolling to the side when there's no support.
How is this a Wii U game? A costume change? The video must be for the 3DS version, because you can't scale up DSi res to 1080p, no matter how much you love pixel art.
The games are aesthetically broken with 3D. You can imagine that a flat blue background in 2D is actually the far horizon, but in 3D, it's a poster-board background that's all too close.
This was an extremely generic review. Was it even played on a 3DS? The NES had a vertical resolution of 240 pixels, same as the 3DS. Granted, some of that was lost in the overscan on the old TV's, so trimming it at the top and bottom is regularly done to hide the rough bits that were never intended to be seen in the first place. Still, that doesn't account for the large top and bottom borders in the screenshots, and the HD border art. Cut out the screenshots that don't come from the 3DS, and tell us how it plays. Can I use A to jump, and B to fire? Can I play it on the bottom screen instead of the top?
@StarDust4Ever OK, I always took the "Digital Out" as a misnomer. Googled that. Glad I bought the cable from the Nintendo Online Store when they where available.

If you were faced with millions in lost sales between now and then, wouldn't you lie?

Re: Nintendo Forgot That You Can't Complete StarTropics Without The Original NES Manual
It's one of the worst-kept secrets in NES history. I think the Wii VC version sent the letter to the Wii messages.
Re: Treat Yourself To A Bargain Or Two With The Nintendo New Year's Sale In North America
Nothing for Wii U, then?
Re: Reggie: Nintendo Would "Love" Red Dead Redemption 2 On Switch
Nice save, Reggie. RDR2 could never run on the switch as it is. Maybe a top-down view GTA1 style?
Re: Random: Now You Can Finally Experience What It's Like To Be Eaten Alive By Kirby
I don't know. My head's pretty big...
Re: Random: Super Mario Party Shows That Nintendo Still Can't Decide Birdo's Gender
From the first time I played SMB2, I thought Birdo was a girl. Granted, they're coming from the wrong end, but dudes don't lay eggs.

Re: Hardware Review: Does The Retro-Bit NES Power Stick Give You The Advantage?
So, absolutely no "advantage" over the standard control pad? Nintendo's stick was a necessity for some games because of the adjustable turbo.

Re: Gallery: The North American SNES Classic Mini Is Boxy, But Good
I was impressed by the game mag pics of the Super Famicom just before it was released, disappointed by the box we eventually got in the US.
Re: Video: Celebrate Kirby's 25th Anniversary With This Special Trailer
The original Kirby was one of the reasons I bought a Game Boy in 1992, but the NES Kirby's Adventure was probably my favorite.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch + LED Mini Projector: A Match Made In Gaming Heaven?
@AlbertXi Not even full widescreen, which would be 854x480. All Switch games will be letterboxed, assuming a 1:1 pixel ratio.
Re: Feature: Ten Classic Games Which Would Be Great To Play On The NES Mini
They should immediately release an updated console with more games and let the scalpers suck on their first gen losses.

That's all well and good until the next stability update.
