As we've seen over recent weeks with themed discounts and promotions, Nintendo's been celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Kirby. Nintendo of Europe, for its part, has now published a rather nice trailer celebrating the landmark.
It works through 25 years of Kirby games, ending with a few snippets of the Kirby Switch title due in 2018 (first seen in the E3 trailer).
It's interesting to see the timeline of games, particularly as it demonstrates how keen Nintendo has been to keep the IP active in the past couple of generations. It seems that Kirby isn't going anywhere.
Which of these Kirby games is your favourite?

Sweet can't wait for the new game. Looks like the best one in a while.
Congrats Kirby, I'm 31 and I still enjoy playing Kirby games. That will never change. My favorites are Super Star, Advance, and the 3DS games. Looking forward to the Switch game.
Epic Yarn was a good one too.
It didn't mention the holiday 2017 multiplayer Kirby game.
If the Switch game is as good as Planet Robobot, we're in for a treat!
Nice.
Ugh, I just want know what the new 3DS game is going to be. How is it they haven't announced it yet?
There is someone who is really Excited about Kirby games, especially Kirby 2018. Just take a look this video :

It's a pity the 25th anniversary discounts are so pitiful?
Ghost Trap? I thought that was Avalanche?
@Anti-Matter I saw that awhile back and she is quite the character.
Oh boy! I'm hyped for Kirby 2018!!! I really hope it releases as early as January or February!!!
The original Kirby was one of the reasons I bought a Game Boy in 1992, but the NES Kirby's Adventure was probably my favorite.
@LiberatedAnimal which is impressive because robobot was reviewed great and I loved triple deluxe and return to dream land.
Kirby is solid gaming.
1. What about the new 3DS game?
2. Is Europe allowed to join the celebrations this time?
@raygboyd333 That's the European title I think.
Long live Kirby! It's by far my favorite gaming franchise amd platforming series. I think the 2d games are better than recent 2d Mario games (#shots ). Here's to another 25 years. My favorites are Nightmare in Dreamland, Super Star Ultra, Crystal Shards and Planet Robobot/Triple Deluxe
@Anti-Matter That was literally my reaction too haha
I'd forgotten just how beautifully smooth the animation in Epic Yarn was! Kinda makes me wish Yoshi hadn't taken the aesthetic.
My favs:
2D: Kirby Super Star Ultra.
3D: Kirby 64
Spin-off: Kirby Air Ride
Fav boss:
this video has been in the switch news area for a couple of days now. i like that we're getting stuff before everyone else there
Looking forward to Kirby 2018. My favorite Kirby game and a favorite of the SNES in general is Kirby Superstar. Love the gameplay, graphics, music, stories, and fun co-op nights with my friends.
@shonenjump86 Key, wanted to ask you the name of your avatar. I know it is from an anime in the 90's but can't remember its name!
@maceng Space Adventure Cobra. A manga series that actually started in the late 70's in Shonen Jump. The anime came around the early 80's.
@shonenjump86 Yes, thanks!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE agreed. Robo game is worth it. Should be $20
@maceng No prob at all.
I wonder if Nintendo would ever bother to make another Kirby Anniversary Collection. It would be perfect for the Switch, since it's a hybrid console and playing the Gameboy games would feel much more genuine.
That's so cute! I'm finally getting into Kirby games after not having played one of the main entries since 1995, and there's so much to enjoy.
Kirby's Adventure and Kirby's Pinball Land were two of the first games I ever played. I still like Adventure the best out of all of them, with Super Star being a close second. I also enjoyed Kirby 64 at the time, although it hasn't aged too well. I also LOVED Canvas Curse. Rainbow Curse was very disappointing in comparison.
Hopefully Kirby Switch will offer a decent amount of content. That's my main gripe about most of the games in the series.
Kirby 64 all the way.
Had a quick spin on Triple Deluxe tonight by chance. It's just the epitome of what I look for in platform games - fun, colorful, loads of transformations, classic backing music. Very much looking forward to an HD entry.
Not related, but capcom has more games planned for Switch. Okami HD may be headed for PS4... just throwing it out there!
Happy birthday little fella (if you are indeed a fella). NES Kirby all the way. Just started "playing" it with my daughter two weeks ago on her third birthday. She loves it for 10 minute play sessions. Thinks he's super cute. Sanei Kirby plushie incoming this Christmas.
I'm not the biggest Kirby guy but my favourites are two spinoffs, i really enjoyed being DeDeDe Drum dash and Rainbow Curse/Paintbrush. My nephews are big fans though and the Wii game being 4 player has made it probably my most played since we can all play.
They missed the Satellaview Kirby games. Kirby will have starred in 34 games including them by the end of this year. This doesn't count SSMB, which he's clearly front and center in. Correct me if i'm wrong but it seems to me it's Nintendo's third most prolific franchise after Mario and Pokemon. Even Zelda and it's spinoffs are only at 29 games (including Tingle, Satellaview but not CDi since they aren't Nintendo games). Even if you include the Game and Watch and crazy obscure Barcode Battler Zelda game it's still short of Kirby at 32. Crazy.
Another wasted anniversary by Nintendo. Some kind of Kirby news/VC games posted to Switch would've been nice.....oh wait...the Switch VC service still isn't ready!! 😡😡 Are there even any North American discounts going on?? 🤔
@Undead_terror wait they remade that fight in Robobot huh?
@Kevlar44 - Thanks for counting up the game totals, that's interesting. Didn't realize Kirby was that prolific. I count him as their second most important franchise, but consider Mario and Zelda 1a and 1b. I realize that's cheating a bit. Never been a Pokémon player and attribute that IP to Game Freak, but I understand how popular it is world wide. To me, Nintendo is the portly plumber, the hero not named Zelda and the pink puffball.
Canvas Curse is my favorite, but I like a lot of them a lot. My son and I just finished Kirby's Return to Dreamland on the Wii U.
I'm guessing you can play the new Kirby game for Switch with only one Joy-Con, that means if you have two Joy-Con two people can play.
I think Kirby switch might be my first Kirby purchase
Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot are my favorites so I'm hoping the Switch release follows those. I love the standard Kirby but with a unique little gimmick approach.
A lot of the spin-off games would make good casual smartphone games now.
I wish they would make a real 3D platform game with Kirby... But now that I think of it, it would probably play a bit like Mario Odyssey.
Love this trailer <3
The kirby game for switch looks beautiful
Why are there 4 Kirby games that have had their titles changed in Europe?
Happy 25, Kirby! ^_^
